You've got me thinking that the super heavy ramp door on mine could be replaced with a bump-out shell on the back- but top hinge the assembly so a car can still be loaded using portable ramps that could store under the chassis. Kinda like the tip-up nose on the C-5 cargo plane, but on the back of a trailer. Nice work. I have all the ideas and inspiration, just not the physical drive to get out there and get mine going.
That would be a pretty neat idea!…. I’ve seen a few trailers at the junkyard that have a front or back that’s fibreglass with the wood frame in between. Maybe you can pull one of those off and fibreglass it to size? To make it out of metal even aluminum I think would be pretty heavy, you might have to end up sliding your axle back. I hear you on the motivation…. I’m staring at mine and debating about pulling it all apart to double insulate it for this winter. 😅
Thanks…. It’s been something I’ve wanted to do for quite a while. I’m excited to see how it turns out. I’m going to be happy not to not have to set up my bed extension each night! 😅
The design is definitely growing on me, I really wish I could have got the same grey aluminum panels to match the original. Maybe I’ll just raptor line the whole thing like my truck. Thanks
Very cool! I watched the entire original build very closely. Thanks for all the updates and for sharing it with us. I was wondering how it would evolve after a solid year of use. Can't wait to see it happen.
I was looking at picking up another trailer and building it out, but I just couldn’t find one that was the set up how I wanted. So I figured why not build one at a quarter of the cost. 😄 Thanks for following along!
A church brother has a cargo trailer. What he did,he painted the trailer with White Seal. During the summer it's not as hot inside and during the winter it keeps the warmest inside. He painted my house too and it has helped a lot. Years ago my ex partner,he put boat insulation. Only one time have the PVC pipe busted.
Did your parents hide the tools when you were a lad growing up? I can picture them arriving home from work and finding a complete new entrance leading into an entirely renovated house? Another amazing task Zac! You sure have talent.
LOL! They did hid the tools but more because I’d take things apart and they never seemed to go back together the same way. I remember tearing apart a tree house dad made us to make it “better” that was a horrible flop. Also probably every clock in the house I had taken apart and put back together…. Some even worked after! 😂
Glad it helps a bit. I just bought mine from Amazon I used 11 tubes. You could use a lot less but I glued everything. 😄 Here’s the Amazon link for what I bought. It’s an affiliate link. A lot of RV places will also stock it. amzn.to/3VnG6Q7
Wow! Ambitious project. I wonder, how rigid will it be. Especially in offroad. Also, I remember from previous videos, you were planning to upgrade the wheels. Is it still planned?
Right now the hardest part is fighting our weather…. Freezing temperatures and snow, then rain the next day. Such a pain for working outside! I think it should be quite ridged I used 1/8th wall tubing in all structural areas, welding in a decent amount of bracing and then thin wall in all non structural. I think my biggest worry is making it to heavy. Yes I have new tires and rims in the garage I built the opening to accommodate them.
A 7x12 is actually over 8.5’ wide because the tires are on the outside of the box. Also you lose your departure angle. But it’s definitely an easier option.
@@waysoutback I've seen people buy the wider cargo trailers and narrow the axles. If someone is starting from scratch, that's certainly a viable way to go.

I am sitting here shaking my head back and forth in amazement. I love it!!
Right on thanks! I’m pretty happy with how it turned out.
Matches your ranger now. Looks great ! I’d love to be able to sleep sideways in mine too great idea !
Thanks I think it’s going to work out pretty good… a curse of being tall. Can’t wait to have the wood stove going out by a frozen lake somewhere!
@@waysoutback still

Heater ? Ya wood stove looks great for sure look forward to videos on this
Yes love my little diesel heater. It will be nice to have a back up heat just in case.
GREAT Video's! This one was a BIG WOW!
Glad you enjoyed it. Hope you got a chance to see the finished project! We are very happy with it!
Well that is friggin awesome looking. I want to do a project like this so bad.
Well let’s see how this turns out first. 😅😄
Skeptical at first but wow did you impress! I can't wait to see part 2.
Thanks…. It’s been something I’ve wanted to do for quite a while. I’m excited to see how it turns out.

Very impressive. I like it. Kinda looks like the flair on a 1 ton pickup bed. You did a great job!!!

@@waysoutback You can have a body shop paint match the new panels to the old. I personally like the contrast.
@@larrycarlston4044 very true I’ll look into that. I kind of like the rugged raptor paint though. We will see.
Thanks 👍
Another great video! Living vicariously through you. I’ll have to make some sort of video once I get mine further along.
😄 glad to have you along. I’d love to see a video once your done yours. So many great ideas out there!
Good Job ! Keep up the good work.
Thanks! I’m really enjoying the project
A very ambitious modification, hope it works out for you.
Thanks, me too! 😅

Thanks I’ll keep that in mind. Never heard of that stuff before. I’ll look it up. 👍

Definitely been called that before! 😂
By 7×12 and put change out the axle
