Seroma After Surgery: Effective Treatment Tips

- After surgeries, some may notice swelling or a lump right under the skin, that site right near the incision site. They are common after breast cancer lumpectomy surgery, lipo or cosmetic surgery, or any other surgeries. What is this? Well, it may a seroma. What is a seroma, what do you need to do about it and how do we get rid of them? In this video, I share why seromas form and the various ways they are treated.

That surgery scar picture is frightening!!! My abdominal scar is lovely and pinkish purple and the stitches were internal self dissolving. I think I just have uneven fat near the scar 🙏

Can this lump occur after an injury? I fell 4 years ago on my hip and there’s been a painful lump ever since. And somewhat numb.
Had one after my surgery, felt kind of like a hard boiled egg - the shell, under the skins surface. I did show the surgeon several weeks after surgery & they agreed to keep an eye on it. I made an appointment about a week later for the surgeon to recheck it. The day before the 2nd appointment, I had an Ozone treatment, with in 24 hours the seroma started to fall into itself & regress, within a few days it was gone & has not come back.

I did my operation one year back. I suffered lot this seroma. Every time the doctor take it in sringe. Now it is hard in the hole position. Is it common?

Good question! A seroma is a pocket of fluid. Scar tissue is like connective tissue and fibers in the area. I hope that makes sense 🙂
How can you tell the difference from through the skin. I have one draining from 1 corner of my incision, I am not sure if the rest of the length of my abdominal incision is scar tissue formed
My seroma occurred after radiation treatment is this normal?
most probably the radiation paralysed the lymphatic vessels thereby inhibiting their drainage function, hence your seroma
