  • This video is a comparison between what I find to be similar 4 foot rgb tube lights the nanlite pavotube II 30x and the amaran PT4C. They are both 4ft tubes, both rgb, both internal battery and both t12 size. I own both so I could really make my own decision on which way to go when buying more 4 ft rgb tube lights for my productions. The pavotube II 30x and the amaran pt4c are both great in their own rights but both the rgb tubes lights have some pros and cons. Watch the video on the nanlite pavotube II 30x and the amaran pt4c rgb tube lights, and leave any questions and comments below, I will try to answer all questions!

    It is the only video that showed the brightness difference. I was almost ready to buy Amaran, but half the power is too little. I guess i will go for Nanlite this time.

      Yes it's really brighter than Aputure, but you can see at 5600k shot that nanlite has a tint shift on the skin tones and Aputure hasn't. So you can't use it like a key light, or you need to fix it on post

    • @filmowaniezprofitem
      @filmowaniezprofitem 3 місяці тому

      @@AbsoluteAnatoliiNanlite has green/magenta controls so i can just fix it on set. Also, i don't realy use tubes as key light. It is quite unpractical for that.

    This seems to be a trend with Aputure VS Nanlite gear, at least from what I've seen. Nanlite always seems to have more outputs than their direct Aputure counter parts, while Aputure's selling point is the eco system or other smaller holes that Nanlite doesn't fill.
    I'd be happy with either of those lights, thanks for the review!

    • @animusvisual
      @animusvisual  11 місяців тому +1

      Agreed! Thinking about it that applies to almost every light i can think of in direct comparison. I own just about one of each aputure light and a good bit of equivalent nanlite fixtures. Ive been impressed with the progess in the nanlite app and the fact it works with the nanlux lights too. End of day they both perform well and comes down to what operators find most important in a product.

    Thanks for sharing your experience. Off topic: in your edit, are you using the auto-ducking feature? You might want to check the sensitivity or treshold of it. The music pops up every now and then when it shouldn't I guess :) Cheers!

      I probably won't do any sort of in depth review, but I just got the Lume Cube XL, and I have a friend's Nanlites for comparison. Just in a quick side-by-side, I can tell the Lume Cube is slightly brighter (it's close, but my light meter says so as well), the colors are rich, and the profile has slimmer "end caps" than the Nanlites do. Pretty similar in all other areas- metal housing, various thread points, runs for 288min on half power, 96min on full power.

      @@BeauRosarioso the lume cube is better

    • @jtophotography
      @jtophotography 4 місяці тому

      As I understand, the Lume Cube XL can only show one color at a time and should be compared to Nanlite PavoTube II 30C instead of 30X.

    I just got my Amaran tubes and I think that in real shooting scenarios, they will be bright enough. At iso 400, 60fps, T3 one tube could be a key light. Output is important, but this functions more as a fill and accent/effect light. Plus the app makes usage extreme efficient

    • @animusvisual
      @animusvisual  Рік тому

      I don't disagree, I love aputure stuff and the app control is great, but the facts are the facts. The pavos are still brighter, you can always dim down but can push past a certain point. There's been times when we need a rim or hair in a room with a daylight window and the extra punch just comes in handy. The nanlink app is still capable just a bit clunkier to use. The build quality is also quite different. When you consider the price being so similar, its kind of hard to justify. All that said, its all preference I'm just showing the differences objectively and why id prefer one over the other.

      @@animusvisual If output is what you’re after, PT4c not the light for you. Speed is the more important and with every other light i have being from aputure makes Sidus link the best choice. The brightness difference in CCT is big, but in RGB it is much closer which is how I’d use it

      @@JitDawgBruhDang fair enough, It's definitely based on use case. I still like my amaran and have them packed in my van. Can never have enough battery operated tubes imo

    I purchased a pavotube, it was defective with the front diffusion cover sliding back and forth. The second was defective with the LED's flickering on max brightness. The third was defective as it wouldn't turn on unless plugged in. 3 defective units makes me not want another, but half the power is also a tough break. Have you had any practice with Titans? Obviously way more expensive. Thanks!

    • @animusvisual
      @animusvisual  8 місяців тому

      Hey man thats really rough luck. I got a 4 ft set and a 2 ft set and neither had issues. I dont blame ya. I have used titans on a good few productions, theyre solid and lighter than the pavotuves but i had issues with wireless control and keeping settings if discconected which wad annoying, but they are industry standard so these are minor complaints. For the price though i chose to deal with the pavos inconveniences

    Thanks for your very intensive review :-) I´m planing a set with many tubes. so my question is if the APP has been approved to have a correct sync in pixel mode. Wuld be great if anybody who reads this coud give an answer (today is 24-02-06)

    The colors on the Amaran look a lot better and true, but I'm not sure if I'm seeing it that way because the intensities are different.

    • @animusvisual
      @animusvisual  10 місяців тому

      I think exposure probably affects the perception. The darker colors look more saturated. I think dropping nanlite shots exposure in post could yield a similar result.
