I have since played with it and it works as you described it. I think something was just off that day. I hope it wasn’t me. Anyway, you’re right.
You are right. I tried it later and it worked perfectly as you described. However, believe it or not, it was not working while the camera was rolling. I was scrolling as fast as I could. Not sure what went wrong. Works great now. Thanks.
Great video. Love your reviewing mechanism $$, fun and logical. MT Pro even has CRMX! Most users won't need this, but it's a wild function. Paired with a proper wireless DMX setup (like RatPak + Luminair), MT Pro can be controlled by a proper lighting board and it can passthough it's DMX signal to wired lights down-chain via it's USB-C ->5 Pin DMX dongle (Sold separately) I can use MTPro as a dongle to make a lamp like Arri Skypanel 'wirelessly' controllable.
Just got a $50 Mettle 1 foot tube light from Amazon and prefer it to the MT pro... It's brighter, more effects and easier menu .... MT Pro is only worth it for the grid and sidus.
With the Amaran and the threaded holes on either end, could you daisy chain them together with a threaded piece? In a way, stack them if you needed to?
I still don’t know which one to get honestly, the MT Pro has more value in terms of brightness, accessories it comes with and pixels for custom FX but the amaran still has its things, like being able to rotate the magnets, that’s huge for me, the price.
For what it’s worth, I’m watching this in September 2024 and the Amaran PT1c is heavily discounted (selling for $69) which makes it a bargain for anyone looking for a budget friendly option for LED tube lights. Still if you’re looking for added quality and accessories, the Aputure MT Pro might be the way to go.
No. The Amaran light also has a built in battery, but it can be replaced if it goes bad. But I don’t think it’s meant to be swapped out over and over. I’ll ask when I met Aputure at NAB.
At the 5:00 min mark when you was trying to be funny and making it seem like the aperture takes for ever to scroll, if you would have read the manual you would have seen that if you scroll fast it will then skip by 10s instead of by 1s so you have the option of being more precise scrolling normal or skip by 10s and go up or down faster by scrolling faster..🤦🏻 😂

Can you use these lights while they charge by USB? Thinking of a live streaming setup, where you'd need the light to last longer than 1-2h.
I’m pretty sure they can, but I’ll check. But even if not, they last a lot longer if not at 100% power.
