The first time I tried this recipe I slid a spatula under the chicken and it was so tender the whole bird caved in, the wings and legs fell off on their own. It was the most tender and juicy chicken I've ever made and I make tender chicken. Thank you so much for the recipe and much love.💖
Just started roasting my chicken this way a couple of years ago and absolutely LOVE IT! I do put it under the broiler after I take it out just to crisp the skin! But the most tender and juiciest chicken ever!! My wings and drumsticks used to always DRY out on me in the oven - but not with this method!! I do turkey breast this way now too! Thanks for sharing!! 😊
I just cooked a turkey breast in my Crockpot. It smelled like thanksgiving. I went to the store for rolls and they don't sell them this time of year. I bought the sourdough bread and wow so yummy. I will try your list of seasonings next week on a chicken.
This has been my preferred way to roast chicken for years. I don’t like the chicken sitting in its own juices as it cooks because it gets mushy. I set the chicken on a rack that keeps it an inch off the bottom. Lots of nice juices for gravy etc. i sometimes put onions, celery and parsley inside for more flavor.
I use a small glass (oven safe) pie plate that’s upside down. I did the foil balls just to test it. Now I just invert the plate and put the chicken on top.
We have a Hen for New Years 2023. I can hardly wait. That bird will have to cook much longer. I can hardly wait to put a piece of Hen in my rice! God Bless to All.
I never thought about doing it this way, but makes so much sense. Thanks so much for always putting out your videos. I bet your house always smells amazing :)
I want to try this recipe but I'm worried that since the seasoning is on the skin that the meat won't have all the flavor like the skin will have. My husband only eats crispy chicken skin so I'm afraid the seasoning will be a waste. What was your experience with the flavor of the meat?
@@cynthiakeller5954I know I’m late but I’d suggest cutting the chest down the middle and seasoning the inside as well. If you want crispy skin maybe put it in the broiler after
I do the same! I also add some veges that are past their prime like onion, carrots, celery and any herbs. The broth is so flavorful from the seasoning that I drink it like tea with a squeeze of lemon after removing the fat after it sits overnight.
I like this suggestion of adding water to make bone broth overnight. I love to add sage and a bay leaf to my veggies as the whole chicken cooks in the crockpot.
Cooking it this way is a great way to save the fat and use it for cooking later. Using the chicken fat to fry potato pancakes or sliced potatoes is amazing.
This perfect for me! I need the chicken for a pot pie recipe and this is an easy way to get juicy meat. I use the drippings and carcass to make some stock.
I do a similar cook, when im done i add melted butter or your Fav cooking oil and then Broil it 10-15 min more and got the a crispy top thanks for th \e Vid like the ingredients you used.
Just tried this. Added some extra spices. Family was supposed to take it out and do the rest while I was at work. Came home with it set to warm after hours and it was dry af, burnt and flavourless. So much for a chicken gravy from the drippings. Will try again and do it on my own. I guess I’ll be enjoying this on my own next time…
This has been my favorite way to cook whole chickens this year. I love the way the flavor turns out and the meat is so juicy. Not having the crispy skin doesn’t bother us as we don’t eat chicken skin usually. If we want crispy skin we have other recipes for that. Also I love to do this and shred the whole chicken and freeze to meal prep for lazy days! I usually add veg on the bottom if it’s for dinner but now I want to try this seasoning blend you made up for it, sounds yummy! Thanks for sharing we love your videos and recipes in our home! ❤

Hi A!!! Oh... I really like this recipe. I like using my Crock Pots. I have never made a whole chicken in the CP before. I will be doing this real soon. The chicken look so...delish... Great video!!!...
You could also do this on a pellet cooker outside. With approx 30 seconds of research I found the crock pot temps are 200 on low and 300 on high. I wouldn't do chicken at 200 as there'll be WAY too much smoke, but 300 will give a nice smokey element. Just another option.
I love to cook chicken like this when HEB has them in the ad. I usually get a couple of them cook them take the meat off the bone and put it in freezer bags and stick in the freezer for pasta dishes and casseroles. You can usually get 2-3 meals out of one chicken.
I have a crock pot too small so i stopped using it. Thx for showing what size i need to get. This looks delicious. The broth is saveable n freezable for future gravies or meals (chicken soup, etc). Can throw veggies in to make it a full meal too. Edit: try spreading your seasoning underneath the skin too. Makes a world of difference.
This is a great way to cook a chicken,it would also be great for chicken soup.. thank you so much for sharing your recipe 😋 hv a great day family 💕🥰😘❤️🧡💙
I made this for dinner tonight. The family loved it. To quote my husband “even the white meat is moist.” There is enough chicken left over chicken Alfredo tomorrow night.
Looks wonderful and so tender, falling apart. I have never attempted to make a whole chicken before. But I do believe the Crock-Pot would be the best avenue.
The rotisserie chickens at the supermarket never have crispy skin. I'm cool with not eating the skin. I will definitely try this. I will brine the bird first tho.
If you want it to be crispy you have to add a tsp of baking soda into the seasoning mix. It'll give it a nice crispy crust and just make sure to keep basting it.
I take it a few steps further. I will take the drippings, remove some of the fat/oil and make homemade gravy. Then i take all the bones, throw them right back in the crockpot with onion, carrots, celery tops and seasoning to make chicken bone broth. From one chicken you get shredded chicken, homemade gravy, and delicious chicken stock. So many recipes can be made. ❤
@@happygenerously6008 Crockpots are not large enough to do a whole turkey. Parts are your best bet if you want to do a slow cooker turkey. Just make sure to brown them in oil in a frying pan first.
I have done chinken like this but I made tin foil ball so than bottom like the top I even done cut up chinken on tin foil balls just make them it work and easy
Thank you soooo much for this. It looks so good. Now i know what i am making for dinner tomorrow night, and HEB has whole chickens on sale this week so its a win-win. After reading the coments with some great ideas i'm gonna buy more than 1 and cook and debone and freeze. I do have a question tho, if i put potatoes, carrots and celery under the chicken would too much fat for them to sit in? Again thanks for another great idea. I have made sevral of your meals and they always come out great
If you dont want all that juice on the bottom, getting chicken soggy, make balls of foil and sit the chicken on,comes out tender &juicy on ,comes out tender &juicy
I use butter or oil to add to it then slather it with the seasoning and onions and lemons shoved under skin
Yup I'll be doing this one tomorrow. As a caregiver for my wife, I love low maintenance crockpot meal preps. Beats the hell out of frozen food...

Your recipes make life so simple and ECONOMICAL a lot of the recipes I've been trying I make at home instead of eating out and that saves me money 💰

Setting the chicken on a layer of onions & celery is also an option, in case anyone doesn't have a rack that'll fit their crockpot.
@@silvernblack21 Also placing it on top of foil balls or rolls or whatever shape. The point is for the chicken not to touch it's own liquid
I use a small glass (oven safe) pie plate that’s upside down. I did the foil balls just to test it. Now I just invert the plate and put the chicken on top.
Good to know. Health reasons have to stay away from a lot of fats
The juices still rise regardless of when I use a rack or set the chicken on a bed of vegetables

Me neither. It's an excellent idea for the times you don't want to heat up the kitchen.

My kids gave me an enormous oval crockpot several years ago and I can fit two chickens inside. Now to look for a sale! Thanks for sharing!
Great instructions! Exactly what I was looking for, and you have the same crock pot as me!
I do this, demeat the chicken, then put bones back in the crockpot and fill with water and make bone broth overnight.
