@@dixiefire1337 yeah cuz the f2004 could run on special practice/quali tires, designed specifically for that car AND go on optimized fuel load for flying laps. New cars have all these restrictions like weight and fuel requirements, as well as only 3 kinds of tires, so im not surprised a lighter f2004 could go toe to toe at monza with a new car.
More people notice the noise than 1 second lap quicker times , so to engage fans in terest you give them V10 noise as otherwise it's taking away from them what they can see , maybe that's why DRS was used too to replace it lol

I watched them at Imola. During warm up I thought at some point it was thundering, then i realized it was the sound of downshifting of the cars coming from my back. I was at rivazza curve. After braking they started erogating all the power. I couldnt believe they could produce such an astounding sound, even if I was expecting a sort of. I will Never forget that day.
Too expensive tho like 1 million pound an engine blowout every race and 50 million a season to race a team . Paid by sponsor s but take there big investment away and the lesser teams can't compete sadly it ends . Likes 1990s super tourer btcc using £250k on a weekend worth of tyres !
@@timhuggins1993 It may be expensive. But back then tobacco companies can cover all that amount of costs. F1 was financially healthy those days, and then when the ban on tobacco came. No other sponsor can cover what the tobacco era did.

The issue wasn’t who was going to fit the bill, it truly was the spending. I read an article that for every 20 cylinder head castings, BMW would make, only 2 of them were viable due to the high strung standards of those engines and a design that wasn’t big on durability (aka a lot of casting thin sections.

Thanks for the memories. I was lucky enough to have tested and demo'd the 2008 renault F1 r28 for the team during 2009 and had 2 glorious sunny days at the old Silverstone before they ruined the place.
No turbo dude, the whole point of these engines sounding this good and being this loud it's because they are naturally aspirated, so they rev high as hell and there's nothing in the exhaust that muffles the sound
Its a shame that people seem to think F1 needs to evolve with the motor industry, like why should it. If F1 can evolve the logistics to lower the carbon footprint of transport between races then why shouldn't we be able to reintroduce v10's or v8's. The way people inside the sport keep going on about F1 leading the way for the automotive industry makes me think we might see F1 become an electric formula

My first GP was Indy 2004. After a 14 hour drive to get to the track and no sleep, trust Me, I was smiling like I hit powerball when I heard those mighty engines!!! Man, what a treat to the ears! I never used earplugs the entire weekend and was sitting under the canopy on the front straight :).
I used to be an instructor at Silverstone on rally driving so had the pleasure of seeing and hearing F1 cars regularly I used to spend my whole lunch hour watching the cars at every corner , fantastic memories I’ll never forget 🏁
The real sound of Formula 1 racing, remember going to the 1st race of the season down under 05.. with 2 friends,it was their 1st time attending a race, I'll never forget the look on both their faces when the cars screamed round the track..the kind of noise and buzz you never get from television. Wasn't it driven by Sebastian Vettel? I mean he owns the car and also drove it at Goodwood about the same time? Also, I might be wrong, but I don't think it would have been at full rpm because of fear of it breaking and the insurance on it.
