    Good to see you finally were able to build your Dream Garage! I'm 90% done with my detached workshop 33 years after buying a suitable property in town. Kids are grown and I just retired. You have such a beautiful home site! Enjoy your new build!

    It's so neat to look back at the complete build! I got my bathroom underground plumbing finished up today but everything is so wet I need to compact on so more areas to finish up before I can work on installing the foam floor. I'm going to rent a small lift next week to install some soffit lights and other flood lights, so much to do! Take care and don't work too hard out that way!

    Nice building and nice job. The one thing I don't agree with is if I put this kind of money into this garage, it would definitely have a floor above that ceiling with a staircase up to it. That's just too much storage space to lose. Nice job tho.

      Fair enough!

    • @mevestiller
      @mevestiller 4 місяці тому +2

      I do feel like that would have substantially increased the cost though the way he was able to just do the Aluminium ceiling he would have had to buy and install sheathing plus whatever to finish the inside of the ceiling. So if he didn’t expressly need the extra space maybe it would t have been worth the extra cost? Preface: I have no idea what I’m talking about so there’s that…

    • @curtzeek8818
      @curtzeek8818 4 місяці тому +2

      @@mevestiller I understand all that and took that into consideration. I just would have done it that way, and if I couldn't at the time, I would have made it where I could do it later by laying the floor and adding the staircase myself.

    You mentioned you were going to do this video,,,, now I get to settle in and watch it!! 😊😊 yayy!!
    Edit: part way through remembering the highs and lows, good surprises and frustrations, but being that you were acting as the general contractor you did extremely well, especially during COVID!! There were really no excessive delays, even for now! I remember times I was so very excited for you!! Yes I’m still jealous,, I was calculating and with double height storage, I could get about 24- 30 vehicles in there depending on on how tight I wanted to stack them. 24 for sure though!! 😂😂😂. YA BUM!!! 😊
    Finished!! That was quick!! Heh heh. Such a nice recap! You definitely did it right! There are a few more projects you have on the go and overlapping some, so it’s understandable the insulation etc is further down the road. Your weather is generally such that you can use the shop every day of the year save a few. I was seeing those shiny concrete floors and thinking how nice they would be for cleaning, but then how many times I would be falling on my but in the winter!! Frozen boot soles and polished concrete don’t mix well!!! 😂😂. I have taken my fair share of tumbles. We did the tire shop with highly polished shop floors and had to get them scarified then smoothed because they were wayyyy too slippery during seasonal tire changeover seasons. Everyone waited unto it snowed then brought their frozen vehicles in to get the tires done and it was all melted snow and crud and the guys were slipping!! I closed the shop and the floors were done in 2 days! I just couldn’t let any of the guys get hurt! I was helping them so it was gonna be ME that got hurt, but still, not the way to do things. My office?? Yep shiny as yours likely. Heated as well, so you can walk around in your socks if you like! The rest is a smooth finish but not polished,,, if you can imagine that. I’m sure you can.
    Isn’t it an amazingly steep learning curve?? Even with all the great planning and organizing you had done in advance??? We did some of our buildings that way and did most of the work ourselves!! Just couldn’t afford a contractor and had hired hands that had a mix of skills enabling us to get it done! Once I could afford to contract the work out I was their nightmare client!! 😂😂😂. I had high expectations because we could get “ABC” done in a certain amount of time and I expected the professionals to do the same!! Of course they didn’t work 12th hour days! 😂😂. We came to an understanding and they over delivered because they wanted the bit of a bonus for doing so. Most of the contractors split that amongst the guys paycheques. Pretty decent I thought!
    Well ya did it!! By next summer everything will be grown in such that the building will look like it always has been there! The acreage is looking fantastic as usual!! Nice stuff!!!
    I’m looking forward to completion of some projects and to some of the NEW projects too!! Whatever you do, it’s “Shots Life”!! 😊

    • @shotslife
      @shotslife  5 місяців тому +1

      24 cars! That would be tight! Yeah I love the floors! Yeah I wanted to do heated but $$$ lol, Happy New Year!

    • @shitloveaduck
      @shitloveaduck 5 місяців тому

      @@shotslife - Happy New Years!! I have an unseated 40 x 60 that has 24 in it, but that wasn’t too tight a fit. There’s 4 wide and 3 rows deep. Then east h space has a 4 post lift. There’s no space for a working lift or 2 post, but that’s what it was built for, just storage. It can be insulated & heated, but not for now. It has projects, some friends cars and stuff. Only 11 of those are mine. All running, some are pretty nice but not the really nice cars. I cut wayy back this year and sold off most of the vehicles I had. Now I have a 69 K20 Chevy long box with some extremely solid bumpers & rock rails. It’s my city truck!! Haha. Someone wants to drive stupid around me and crash?? I’m gonna walk away unscathed in ole Burt!! Haha. Then I have a 1970 lowered short box 2wd C10, even sold the Vette!! Replaced it with a 1982 Collectors Edition Vette. The grey with the funky grey leather interior. This one has 9800 miles on it so not quite the driver style car my other Vette was. That’s it!! My wife has a Subaru Crosstrek Limited & a Ford Maverick Lariat FX4. I must admit I drive that Maverick a lot!! It could fit in the back of the V10 Dodge you have!! Haha, not really. My shop at home is empty except for the Vette & C10. It makes me want to buy more cars,,,, I did very well financially this year with the sales of the other cars and have all that $$ earmarked for more vehicles, but I might take some risk on some higher dollar vehicles, but I’m not sure my skills are up to par there. I do want a McLaren pretty bad. I drove my buddy’s 720S and that like nothing I have ever owned!!! That’s about $280,000 and up in Canadian dollars!! The $ is there, that was about my net profit on all the vehicles I sold, but that’s a lot (for me) on one car when I could get 3 nice classic Chevelles for that money,,, maybe 4!! Hahaha. I’m still a cheap ole farmer!!! They are gorgeous cars and that’s into the Supercar category,,,,. My priorities have changed as I can’t play as hard as I used to!! All the cars I’m doing nothing with right now are classics, to me at least, but nothing exceptional. Even sold my 67, basically hand built Mustang Fastback!! That was a very profitable car. When you can do it yourself, you benefit!!
      Catch ya later!! Even my nicest shop pales to yours!! Especially on the exterior and office! My office is only 10 x 12!! Haha. Mini office compared to yours!! Haha. Yours has proven to be large enough for a wood shop!!! Nice stuff good sir!!

    Gravel is ungodly high! I don't understand why there's much needed under a floor anyway..overkill is the word of the day in America, everybody is rich..THERE is no longer a need to save money on a build .If it doesn't cost double, people think you are "cutting corners.'' For instance ,the laminated poles sitting on bracketed concrete posts,are over triple the price of the old way.... laminating them on- site yourself.
