Yes it is. My HP DC7800 is already upgrade to Windows 10 Professional. The previous version were the original Windows Vista and then it's Windows 7 Ultimate but has unsupported updates. And it using the DVD-ROM disk or USB bootable driver.
I did this upgrade last night from Windows 7 and so far so good. I was a little apprehensive but I have to say this worked very nicely. I did back all my important data but nothing was lost in the transition. My programs are also still working correctly. Glad it was so smooth to do.
I just completed the upgrade from 8.1 to 10 and it was super easy. I didn't encounter any of the snags they listed. Thanks for the grrrrrrrrrreat tutorial! You saved me $139!!!
This video is just too cool - very clear and extremely helpful in navigating thru something I've been dreading either doing myself or forking over the $139 for a Windows 10 purchase and $100 to a computer shop to do it for me. Your "Control panel --> System Security --> System" tip showed an already activated Windows 7 version so no activation key was even necessary. An update was necessary to run incompatible software like next year's TurboTax, system updates, and others. Total time < 2 hrs from start to a new, free, Windows 10 system. (I can't imagine who the one out of twenty thumbs down disgruntles are, but put me in the 19 our of 20 who say "Good job, great video and very grateful!"
This worked just as described! I watched the video twice before I started the upgrade from Windows 7 to 10. The second time, I took notes and was careful to make sure that my system met the minimum requirements to run Windows 10. I never did see the link "posted below", but had no trouble finding it otherwise. I hadn't restarted my PC in a while and there were some Windows 7 updates that needed to finish installing, which took some time. Also, I had updated my MS-Office 2003, to Office 365. That too went through an update process. However, once all that was done, the actual upgrade to Windows 10 went flawless. It never asked me for keycode or license number, although I had a valid and activated license for Windows 7. So, my advice is study-up on this video and make sure you follow the directions, have a valid and activated version of Windows 7 or newer to begin with, and, that your hardware meets the minimums. I do feel like the system has slowed down just a little, so my next project is to speed up Windows 10! If any of you have a good link to show how to do this, please share.

JSYK, the Windows 10 upgrade from Windows 7 link still worked like a charm on February 11 2021, all good. Thanks so much for your help and entertainment.
Succesfully updated from Windows 7 to 10 a few days ago (April 2021) on an ten-years old PC. Works flawlessly. If you use pre-activated Windows the installer won't ask you for your program key (at least for the OEM version of Windows). Great video, btw. Really helpfull, informative... and fun!
This is Sept 2020---long past when I thought I could upgrade for free, but thanks to your video and link provided, mine did! It didn't even ask for my product key (which I have and is legal). It took nearly four hours to download including updates, but it went right in and did not mess with ANY of my previous stuff. I am so thrilled. Thank you so very much for your helpful video and friendly/comical presentation. I have subscribed to your channel. Thanks again.
@@jaypawar1628 Hello Jay! So I followed all the instructions from the video and upgraded my computer. The only thing I had to do with my files and pictures was make sure that they were in the correct folders I wanted them to be in. After everything loaded, which took about 2 hours, I went straight to my folder tab and found everything still there. Even the docs I didn’t place in folders were fine. Good luck!
If anyone keeps getting the “Installation failed” message try these two steps: Step 1. Uninstall Mcafee -Control Panel>Programs and Features, right click Mcafee, click uninstall and proceed through steps to restart and complete. Step 2. Control Panel>System>Advanced System Settings>System Protection, Select Local C Drive, Click configure, select disable system protection, click apply then ok. After doing these two steps and following the video, Windows 10 finally upgraded smoothly and kept my personal files!
For me Im having a hardtime running the MediaCreationTool2004. I dont have anti-virus installed and I already disable my windows firewall and still no good. May I ask for your help please.
I’m shit with technology and nothing like this ever works for me without some complication but .....woohoo,this worked without a hitch in October 2020 and I never even needed a product key. Thanks man, it was your lighthearted demeanour and simplistic way of explaining that convinced me to go for it

Yesterday I was trying to install didn’t asked me for the product key but didn’t installed either, I followed every step as on the video and after an hour or two said it couldn’t install. I am trying again right now to see if I can finally installed.
Temporary folder is a folder where files are temporarily stored when being installed, created, modified, etc. They're supposed to be deleted thereafter. In your case they obviously were Not. For whatever reason.
If he watches his own video, he answers his own question. "The download for the upgrade is gigs of data" "There was gigs of data in this temp directory..." :)
I love Windows 7. Nothing will stop me from upgrading to a more "modern" OS. Windows 10 is very buggy and some programs can stop working for no reason.
I'm with you. But I'm starting to get too many programs that won't work with 7 anymore. I think I've gotta move to an OS I don't want because of programs I DO want.
@@justshon3284 The product key can be found inside the lapto,p under the battery! However didn't need to enter it ,so the system must have picked it up somewhere along the way during the upgrade.

RainDeerX yup, faster than before but shutting down took longer. Regarding the ram, I can’t tell because I did not know how much was left prior to upgrade.
I tried this and this is still working (as of 6th october, 2021). Few things you should keep a check on:- Disable your antivirus, if any. i was stuck on a page for 30 mins while installing and when i disabled my avast antivirus, it continued in 5 mins. It took me 3.75 GB of internet to download, make sure you have 4 GB uninterrupted internet. also leave 50-60 GB in your C drive. Although I backed up my data but no data was lost in the installation. Not a single file. After installing, use your laptop for about half an hour, this is bcoz it applies some updates after you turn it on. Hope these work well🙂.
@@yaziri7 well i don't remember exactly. It said nothing related to antivirus. It was part of the installation where the loading stuck for a long time. Then it finished easily after disabling the antivirus.
I did everything and it said it finished downloading windows 10 after the blue screen, but it just booted me back to my windows 7 desktop with no error message or anything, and it was the exact same. Wow! Very impressed! I followed all the instructions in your above video which I found simple to follow (I am not computer minded at all!) and downloaded Windows 10 for free on 20.03.2021. I also didn't need a key product code. Thank you so much. I didn't try and download Windows 10 when it first came out because of all the hype about the bugs it supposedly had but came to realise I couldn't keep running my oldish pc (which I love and don't want to replace!) on Windows 7 anymore. Delighted to have found your video. And if I can do it, anyone can! Thanks again!
Thank you very much for the info. I updated my Window 8.1 with ease August 5, 2020. The process default and have checks next to keep all your files and data. I fell asleep during the update but when I woke up the Windows 10 screen was ready. After I logged on, the pc updated and I kept it moving. Everything works as it all did before the update. I'm a DJ and was skidish about updating without losing files. Everything worked out just fine. Thanks again, you've earned my sub lol

It's the end of May 2020 and I have been meaning to upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10 for months but didn't, who else can I blame? Well I saw your video and thought "Bollocks, let's take a chance!" Your step-by-step guide was spot on. My Windows 7 was activated and I made a note of the Product ID, though it was never asked for. I can only assume it was checked automatically. The process was made effortless by following your video. Thank you so much. New Subscriber.

Another alternate option is you have to purchase a bootable USB or DVD-ROM with Windows 10 Professional to upgrade your PC or Laptop to keep or reformat the local disk drive. My PC using the old second hand SFF CPU (HP DC7800) but it really works in just less than two hours to install.
IT REALLY WORKS !!! Microsoft one at $139 for me to update to Windows 10 so I decided to watch this video to do the update for my 2016 Dell Desktop touchscreen computer like I just can’t believe it. Thank You
Thank you for the directions for upgrading! I didn't take advantage of the free upgrade to Windows 10 when it popped up on my netbook a year or two ago. But the upgrade still works! I plugged my Lenovo x100e into a wall outlet and used an Ethernet cable to connect to the wireless router. Took about two hours start to finish. But no problems encountered in the installation.
I am so glad this was provided. Windows 7 was acting up. My clock was not updating. Also files starting to not save automatically. Had to rename them. If don't got lost forever.

I am actually so thankful for this video. I've had my pc on windows 7 for almost ten years and kept failing to upgrade it until I found this legendary video
Followed these instructions on a 12 year old laptop that was previously upgraded to Win7. Took along time for a complete install and I'm guessing it was due to only having 2gigs of ram. Now I 'm going to donate this to someone who needs a laptop and recommend that they upgrade the ram to 6gigs. Thanks for your help with this.
It still works like a charm!! My friend gave me his old outdated gaming computer... It was running win 7 ultimate and didn't start. The 12GB ram was loose and he was running the system from an old HDD even tho he had additional 1TB SSD and 1TB HDD installed. I fixed the issues and now I have an great computer. Even the additional graphic-card that never worked well has now started to work. I think that I just made an bargain here
Worked perfectly!!! Thanks. Had to do some cleaning of the System Reserved Partition but the Microsoft directions were accurate, and then a walk in the park, not even did it require the windows 7 key. After the SRP cleanup some 3 hours between downloads and reboots.
Thanks so much for the video. I can confirm that the FREE update still works as of today (17 Oct 2021). I was updating from a full retail (not OEM) copy of Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit (activated) and it ran with no problems at all in well under two hours. I made sure I had 40GB of free space on my boot drive before starting. As my GTX 1660 Super graphics card supports DirectX 12, but Windows 7 doesn't, it was nice to suddenly be able to play newer games with DX12 rather than having to use the Vulkan API.
Worked like a charm; 03/2021. Was not prompted for a product key. Guess mine was already registered. But found it on the bottom of the pc, just in case. Thanks for your help!

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!! The link is still working as of 10/20/20!! This worked without a hitch! I’m a published author (like the name says, ha) and purchased a newer version of Office (the old version expired). It would not install on Windows 7, so I was desperate to get Windows 10 for free. The ONLY snag that I ran into was that after it asked if I wanted to delete the old version of Office (ironically), the Windows install stalled and I had to reboot and start from scratch, which didn’t take as long, as the install was pretty much complete. Not being able to find a flash drive, I emailed all of my manuscripts and book cover images to myself (pretty proud of that idea) - just in case. You guys are LIFESAVERS!! Succesfully updated from Windows 7 to 10 a few days ago (April 2021) on an ten-years old PC. Works flawlessly. If you use pre-activated Windows the installer won't ask you for your program key (at least for the OEM version of Windows).

Hi, did you have to backup any of your files before your moved from Windows 7 to windows 10? Or did you just hop right into it and you were fine?
@@amandastellwag6855 same question...
Good luck!
My slow internet made my downlaod rake 7 hours lol
If anyone keeps getting the “Installation failed” message try these two steps:
Step 1.
I tried that ...still no luck ☹️

Yesterday I was trying to install didn’t asked me for the product key but didn’t installed either, I followed every step as on the video and after an hour or two said it couldn’t install. Windows activation links that key to the motherboard. If he were to lift if from the MB you could use that code before he associates it to another MB.

Thanks for sharing such a great way to upgrade. May u have a peaceful life.
I’ve been stuck on ‘checking for updates’ screen for 5 hours
I tried this and this is still working (as of 6th october, 2021). Few things you should keep a check on:-
Disable your antivirus, if any. i was stuck on a page for 30 mins while installing and when i disabled my avast antivirus, it continued in 5 mins.
What did the page tell you ?

Thanks so much for the video. I can confirm that the FREE update still works as of today (17 Oct 2021). I was updating from a full retail (not OEM) copy of Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit (activated) and it ran with no problems at all in well under two hours.
