It used to be my dream to grow up and work as an animator for Disney, but their business practices these days have killed that drive for me. I don’t want to create soulless cash grabs

It’s really sad that these days, a beautifully animated movie often has a cavalcade of overworked animators behind it, as well as the looming dread of employees being laid off by the industry once they finish their hard work. Thank you for sharing this 2024 animation recap, Dazz.
I think it already did. The Amazing Digital Circus had alot of attention. Even Too Loud, Ollie and Scoops, Spooky Month and Monkey Wrench started to get talked about more. BFDI, Pencilmation, Bugbo and Homestar Runner, while not up there yet, have finally got noticable by most cartoon fans and reaction channels.
Indie animation won't magically fix western animation but it's a beacon of hope going forward, nothing will ever beat the Disney renaissance and Timmverse era of classic animation though, that'll always be the golden age of western animation.
You need to dig through UA-cam to find the good stuff, there's animation film festival channels and all kinds of hidden gems. I'm particularly in love with early Russian and eastern European animation, it's very beautiful
@@themoviecritic1092 no doubt but let’s not forget woke Hollywood… they’ve been trying to push politics in movies… Maybe there is hope, but I think indie animation may see its rise. I haven’t been to a movie in 5 years. I feel I’ve missed nothing
Mainstream animation is definitely on a low point and AI is just awful but the fact that Indie productions big and small are doing well gives me hope. Whether its the likes of Helluva Boss just having wrapped up its 2nd season, the Amazing Digital circus continuing as a globally popular powerhouse, new series like Lackadaisy, The Gaslight district, and recently unveiled Knights of Guinevere from the team behind the Owl house, and many more!
4:06 During this statement I got an ad about an Ai song creating app and I think that proves your statement even beyond corporate knowledge. Animation is struggling and it is scary. I hope someone somewhere will save it from corporate greed and “bad” robots
Block by Block is my most anticipated animated show of 2025. The fact it looks better than the “official” Minecraft movie despite being made by a 16 year old UA-camr is crazy.
That's not crazy, or really any way surprising for me. Of course a 16 year old would know how to portray Minecraft better than some executives in their 50s or 60s.
I honestly feel *almost* pity for all those big companies (Disney mainly) relying on reboots and live-actions, but indie animation has made me think it’s not all bad. 😊 Eventually, I think more people will go that route than with the current animation companies. 😅
I’m planning LOADS of Animated Shows, the 1 I’m on right now is based off of the Chinese🇨🇳 Zodiac🐀🐂🐅🐇🐉🐍🐎🐐🐒🐓🐕🐖, with the Elements of Gosei Sentai Dairanger!.
Actually, half of the movies at the 2024 box office top 10 were animated • #1 | Inside Out 2 • #3 | Moana 2 • #4 | Despicable Me 4 • #7 | Mufasa: The Lion King • #9 | Kung Fu Panda 4
Sadly, I have found myself having little to no desire to watch any animated projects, not even Hazbin, Invincible, or Glitch. After Graduating and seeing what the Entertainment Industry has become, I've started to feel that my life has been a lie for all these years. And throughout 2025, I will be contemplating on whether or not to delete my account.
No. There is no accepting this. Disney isn't God, just because they own a lot doesn't make their will our command. There are many angles to approach animation, and many popular, small studios do it.
Plus, animation shouldn’t have any politically driven storylines, no matter what side they’re on. And it shouldn’t be relegated to photo realism directed to kids. I care about animation and entertainment in general.
It’s a shame to see animation focus more on sequels & live action remakes over originals plus the way studios treat & pay their animators is horrible & that needs to change! Plus protect them all against AI!
We need beyond the spider verse to be in June 2026 next to the super Mario movie 2 to make 2026 2023 all over again and delay Spider-Man 4 with Tom holland in December 2026 next to Shrek 5 and ice age 6 which Shrek 5 recently got delayed
How are Dogman and Bad Guys 2 examples of corporate greed? More importantly, why are people so concerned about Dreamworks no longer doing in-house studio animation? If Bad Guys 2 and Dog Man are anything (two post Wild Robot movies) the animation quality is still going strong, especially with Dog Man. Is there a fear that post in-house movies will decline in animation quality over time?
I feel like the rise of CGI is to blame, CGI has brought good movies but a lot of bad ones, like The Minions. It cheapens the animation process when certain movies would have looked great if done in 2d. CGI makes people produce movies like a factory when it comes to full animation; there is no heart, it's generic, and it does not inspire like 2d did (at least in my case). Maybe only one time was Meet the Robinsons, but that is for inventing not drawing. Ya, they can make CGI look or act 2d, but it's not the same. We need 2d back, and it's even if it is expensive. People over in Japan, for example, still do it because they are not lazy. We Americans should learn a lesson and not use CGI all the time because we're creatively bankrupt, cheap, and lazy. CGI mostly helps in movies like Pirates of the Care, but even that is getting worse when seeing modern CGI in Marvel movies (at least from what I heard)
Disney is very lucky right now on my part because as unessesary as it was, Moana 2 I actually thought was a good movie! But we'll see... Any of those 2026 sequels could turn out pretty bad (exept for Mario Movie 2 because let's be real here.) Sigh...
The thing about the Mainstream Animation was.. They are all doing the same and the stories was just someone's therapy session therefore I don't care. Plus they do love remaking the already established IPs from the past. There is no more Creativity with these current Writers and Directors.
Worst movie in 2025: Snow White - even tho she is not white this time around to most people. Best movie in 2025: The Bad Guys 2, maybe, Dog-Man, FNAF 2, or Zootopia? (Not sure about the last one, but Inside 2 was pretty good so,)
Just because Disney wants something to die...
It doesn't mean it has to.
the biggest bullshit is that the animators who are working on the highest grossing movies do not receive a proper salary
It used to be my dream to grow up and work as an animator for Disney, but their business practices these days have killed that drive for me. I don’t want to create soulless cash grabs

I guess, but man do all of these sound incredibly corporate and unneeded. Except Mario 2. That one we all wanted to see happen.
The first 4 of these sound like brain cancer. Mario 2 sounds like it could be tolerable.
all of them are franchises, THE CREATIVITY HERE IS LOW
and the fact that Ice Age 5 is in making despite BlueSky Studio is dead, yeah, rude
