This song was truly meant to be a choir song! And it always takes me back to 8th grade ,and the deep old southern hyms meets the classic Caribbean folk songs... LOVE it!!!!!will NEVER forget it!!!!!!!!😀✝🕊.
WOW. Some of my earliest memories are of singing this song in Sunday school in Jamaica. Honestly, it's HILARIOUS hearing it from this group because of the cultural differences, though they definitely did a GREAT job. I didn't even know that other people knew about this song.
This song means a lot to me. I was in the hospital for a month when I was 10 and a local choir came in to sing for me and the other kids. This is the only song I can remember that they sang. Afterwards, two of the singers in green came up and said hello to me because I was also in a green shirt. I was miserable, so I was really quiet, but it meant a lot to me. THANK YOU FOR SINGING THIS SONG, MYSTERY SINGING GROUP; YOU REALLY HELPED A SAD KID LIKE ME!!!!
Awesome & magnificent. Love this song use to sing it when I was a little child. This song always cheers me up. Superb performance. God bless u all in all u do! Hope to hear u guys down here in Australia some day. =] Remain blessed.
I sang this in eighth grade choir ,and about my step mother Diane..we'd sing shut de do keep out de diane,it landed us in trouble but, hell ,it was damn funny and more over.. TRUE.
I had the EXACT same experience. After years of searching, I finally found it, lol. I am 37, I remember it as a kid while attending Kirkwood summer camp in Stroudsburg, PA.
this was ok my hs choir did this back in 09 and i sung the ending solo it was awsome!!!!! the soloist needed to put more on it he was singing it like it was a love song and not a warning!!!!
wow, haha, this is great i love it! i love the guy's part! and the soloist is AMAZING! i remember this song from a hs singing this to us in elementary school a kazillion years ago
HOLY COW. THERE'S ERIC AND LOGAN AND JEANNA AND MRS CROCKETT AND A WHOLE BUNCH OF OTHERS I REMEMBER FROM SPRINGVILLE HIGH!!! OH SPRINGVILLE HIGH!!! SUCH WONDEROUS TIMES THEY WERE!!!!!
We are doing this song for our midwinter concert this year. Good job! Good diction, it seemed at bit rushed at one part but maybe that is just me messing up the song in my head because I just started learning it today. But yeah, awesome job!
I remember the first time I heard this song ... from Randy Stonehill ...many years ago ... I thought it was cute ....but looking back ....boy ...I wish we all could have listened more .... RESIST THE DEVIL AND HE WILL FLEE FROM YOU ...
Keep shuting the door on the devil he won't bring us down with him we will go with God that was a perfect song remember shut de door on the devil be good by presleyrobinson
Well done and sincere. Very sweet. I think they overemphasized the slang on 'do' a bit is my only critique. Doing a different accent than your own is so hard in a group like that.
my chorus class is supposed to learn this song and we are middle school kids, 6 to 8th grade. im sure we wont be anywhere near as good as the people in this vid but whatever, we only have 2 guys.
@Raven3424 Oh, so many of us know how you feel... I'm a low alto, can sing tenor, but whatever... There are 5 altos that sing, the rest sing the soprano. The sopranos sing soprano, the tenors don't sing, and our basses are out of key except for one. Its horrible.
Holy crap they nailed this song. Bravo! My daughter and I are jamming to the beautiful groove you've created. Thank you
I love this song. Our Choir sang it this year. My teacher was so proud.

It was written by a white dude from California.
@@Ten13Grl I know but it has that southern/Caribbean vibe! Is what I said it reminded me of! Read. Comment carefully !😀

+qpmz234 I was talking about the choir I saw in the hospital, but thanks for trying to help! I think it was an RIT a capella group...
What school was it? I was in this choir... I think? It might be a different choir. I know there is another school in Texas with the same name as mine.
I sang this in school choir about 10 years ago. It was really great to hear this again preformed by an aspiring choir

Shut that door...lock it!
I know it is not intentional but for some reason I could picture this song fitting perfectly as intro music for a creepy/scary movie
I love it!
@romeofroyalty and this is a jamiacan type of song more of "lite da candell evry tings all rite"
haha lmao sounds jamaican x
A bit off but very nice!!! :D

@coolperson1145 hehe we are singing the same song for choir and only a couple of guys and myself are actually the only ones singing properly
What is the highest note the sopranos hit in this song?
this song sounds SO good live
the girl 3rd in from the left on the bottom row looked like she had no idea what the words were
And, yes, it's supposed to be upbeat and celebratory like they sang it.
Spanish Fork High is a public school
I'm lighting the candle, who's pouring the gasoline?
perfect perfect
I go to a public school and we sang it.
@OfficialCrystalBand Spanish Fork High School in Utah. 2008
Very good but a little but fast for the feeling and story of the song. Otherwise they all have good rhythm and none of them really stick out.
@HotLady69 public school choirs can do any song tey want were doing it
Only if I could the basses more :O
@HotLady69 that might have been us.....
I knew this was going to go left
Not bad!
my school choir is doing this
So many bad decisions lead to this
Tbh could have been a lot better but still best recording I can find
Wow, how did they make this song sound so white?
shut de door
