’Twas brillig, and the slithy toves Did gyre and gimble in the wabe: All mimsy were the borogoves, And the mome raths outgrabe. “Beware the Jabberwock, my son! The jaws that bite, the claws that catch! Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun The frumious Bandersnatch!” He took his vorpal sword in hand; Long time the manxome foe he sought- So rested he by the Tumtum tree And stood awhile in thought. And, as in uffish thought he stood, The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame, Came whiffling through the tulgey wood, And burbled as it came! One, two! One, two! And through and through The vorpal blade went snicker-snack! He left it dead, and with its head He went galumphing back. “And hast thou slain the Jabberwock? Come to my arms, my beamish boy! O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!” He chortled in his joy. ’Twas brillig, and the slithy toves Did gyre and gimble in the wabe: All mimsy were the borogoves, And the mome raths outgrabe.
This i a great choir! I think the dynamics were great! This type of song needs the quick and "jabbing" sounds sometimes. (no pun intended) Great Job!!!
That girl is one of the best singers that I know and have the honor of knowing! She has perfect pitch as well. I am glad to know that I am not the only one "reacting" to the text we are singing!
I remember when my chorus sang this song. We were nowhere near as good as these guys, but we did alright considering we were in 7th grade. Thanks for putting this up for us to watch.
We're doing this piece now in our chorale, and the program notes for the piece literally say that it should be performed with the utmost seriousness x) it's all very tongue in cheek.
I LOVE this song, and you guys are so good! I'm a little upset that there's no choreography though... My choir did it once, and we had all these different choreography movements with it. It was so much fun! But you guys are sooooooooooo good!
I remember doing this and making the regions honor choir (this was the audition piece) I tried out for all parts and made all parts! Wow it’s been years.
@thoras101 I am that person. I (And few others) am payed to go to every concert and, just as the music begins, let out a loud, unnecessary cough. It's a wonderful way to make a living, and has its roots in ancient Greece! Unfortunately, it is becoming a dying art. I'm glad you appreciate our hard work.
We're doing this for All-County this year, and Dr. Allred is our conductor. My friends and I all thought he looked an awful lot like Mitt Romney xD Fun song to sing!
@Crystalhearts10 It was supposed to be in the original 1951 cartoon, but was taken out because the movie was too long. The Cheshire cat does recite some of the poem, though. And in the new version of the movie, Johnny Depp's character recites a part of it while he and Alice are in the woods... in that sexy Scottish accent.
@amineax I am the girl @1:17. That was THE point to my doing that. It wasn't embarassing. After this performance, we ALL did the 'thinking' part. I was one of the choir clowns. Dr. Allred knew that and I ad libbed with his permission. He always told us to feel this piece and singing accordingly and I did. P.S. I am the "Chortler" too. That, also was ad libbed and became a part of our performances. Thank you for pointing me out for fame. LOL. Have fun and enjoy!
What if there was a Pokémon called Jabberwock I once had a dream where there was a Pokémon called Jabberwock that is really Haxorus and the Jabberwock seems like it would be dragon type and pseudo legendary even though haxorus isn't really pseudo legendary
Pokémon doesn't do mashups even if it had no copyright like this poem but there should be a Pokémon mashup pack in Minecraft console edition on Nintendo consoles only because Pokémon is partly made by Nintendo and all Pokémon games for a console are for Nintendo consoles
I know that this is a choral piece with several parts, and requires careful and sensitive preparation. But I find it hilarious that every so often you can see two hands with maracas in the back of the choir come up unexpectedly
@utahcollins For a 'bad' performance, you guys sang very well. It's a unique song, and your voices carried the mood of Jabberwocky quite nicely. I can relate to a section 'chickening out', too. The first glee club I ever joined was horrible at our Christmas concert with only four people swaying as instructed to one of the songs. I look at it now and cringe, as I was one of the swayers (and didn't care if anyone else did it), so I understand where you're coming from. ;)
@MystressXOXO as I mentioned to amineax, I was the choir clown and since this was our first performance of it, I ad libbed. Dr. Allred liked what I did and that started the rest of the choir ad libbing to this song. Not at all embarrassed nor was anyone else that I know of to date.
I learned this song in choir junior yr..and here i am a senior and for English what do we have to read and memorize...i never thought id learn anything in chior
My most favorite choir song I ever got to perform, no question!
Me too!!! It always gives an exciting feeling hehe
Me too!! Nevada All State choir did this song with Dr. Allred my sophomore year! So much fun!
me too!!!!
same
Same! URI chorus. Plus the fun toy instruments! 😂 And tue screams!
I love how at the beginning of every song there's always that one person that coughs..
For my choir concerts it’s always an infant child having a tantrum
Real
We need more choir songs that involve epic battles
And the slaying of the jabberwock is the most epic battle of them all
I remember signing this in choir my senior year of high school. Watching this makes me miss high school. ):
I am a senior in high school and am singing this. 0.0
I'm a high school freshman and I'm singing it right now.
Junior! Singing it!
I did this song at my high school too
Love their diction. And intonation. And presentation.
’Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.
“Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!”
He took his vorpal sword in hand;
Long time the manxome foe he sought-
So rested he by the Tumtum tree
And stood awhile in thought.
And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!
One, two! One, two! And through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.
“And hast thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!”
He chortled in his joy.
’Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.
davehshs Ya.
My school sang this lol. We had a lot of fun with it.
We sang this last year at ISSMA during my Sophomore year. We won gold and I am so proud to be in one of the top choirs in the state.
My choir is doing this at ISSMA too 😊
I get to sing this too. God I hope we do good because I can't read sheet music at all.

Ashlyn Elizabeth This is "amaze". ????
I'm in choir and we're doing this for the spring concert, the theme for it is poems, so that's why we're doing this for that reason.
Fall concert, and the theme is folk songs
i remember singing this in my high school choir. What a fun fun fun piece! :)
We had more fun with this piece in high school than they appear to be having..Threw snickers at the audience at one point. :) Good memories...
This song is awesome! Lewis, you rock for creating the poem, and Simon Pottle, you rock for this awesome choral arrangement of it!
The Scream in this is so freaky i got chills and had to look behind me to make sure no one was behind me lol
The Best performance I have heard!! Our choir did this in 1987 and it gets better every time I hear it!
This i a great choir! I think the dynamics were great! This type of song needs the quick and "jabbing" sounds sometimes. (no pun intended) Great Job!!!
2:02 Scared the crap out of me!
Correction 2:01
Same dude
That girl is one of the best singers that I know and have the honor of knowing! She has perfect pitch as well. I am glad to know that I am not the only one "reacting" to the text we are singing!
We're learning this in our choir for our spring performance
Excellent! I love the tenor sound especially at the end. Just very enjoyable!
Easily one of my favorite pieces of all time. I would love to perform this!
We sung this song in a singing program I was recently in. I love this song!
I sang this song two years ago in my choir and it is still my favorite song i have sang high in school!
I remember when my chorus sang this song. We were nowhere near as good as these guys, but we did alright considering we were in 7th grade. Thanks for putting this up for us to watch.
2:02 RIP Headphone users
This performance is stellar!! I performed this with a choir and I wish we would have had this video to watch beforehand!
We're doing this piece now in our chorale, and the program notes for the piece literally say that it should be performed with the utmost seriousness x) it's all very tongue in cheek.
This choir is FANTASTIC!!!!
Allred really knows how to conduct a choir.
One of the best I've seen.
We might be doing this in choir for our spring concert. Its so cool
We won every competition with this one. So much fun.
We won every one of our competitions with this song. Awesome guys.
My high school choir did this song last year for CMEA. We did it differently, but it was one of our more energetic pieces.
I LOVE this song, and you guys are so good! I'm a little upset that there's no choreography though... My choir did it once, and we had all these different choreography movements with it. It was so much fun! But you guys are sooooooooooo good!
AMAZING performance!! wow... My high school choir did this song... it was fun!! GREAT JOB!!!
I remember doing this and making the regions honor choir (this was the audition piece) I tried out for all parts and made all parts! Wow it’s been years.
we did this when i was in the indiana all state choir a few years ago, my favorite piece we did!
Listened to this in choir class. This is amazing.

Totally does the song justice. You guys are awesome! Great musicality!
We're doing this song for my high school choir and im so excited!
We did that with the Furman Singers. I gotta say, this was a lot of fun to do and just as much to listen to another group do it well.
This song is so beautiful and so weird at the same time
I agree - the best performance on youtube. I sang this with the Mira Costa Chamber Chorale back in '99 or '00ish. So much fun.
we sang this song at the university of iowa honor chior very fun piece
I love this song! Our choir is doing it and it's so much fun and nice :D
One of the better performances of this piece. Excellent!
Very inventive. Love it.
Currently doing this for choir, i love this

Watching in 2019
Video 15 years ago...
Watching in 2024
Haha we have to sing this in my choir now. We don’t sound that bad but we can’t seem to get the decrescendo and crescendo right
We're doing this for All-County this year, and Dr. Allred is our conductor. My friends and I all thought he looked an awful lot like Mitt Romney xD
Fun song to sing!
that scream scared me omg.
This is amazing

Sounds wonderful!
Loved this piece!
Thank you for posting this! I'm playing the bass drum and this really helps. And you guys are the best I've seen on here. :D
BEAUTIFUL sound!!!
Dr. Allred, wow! You were the director of District 5 Honors Choir in Pennsylvania, and I see your taste in music hasn't changed a bit ;)
that was great! im doing some studying for when my choir sings this song. its not going to be nearly as good but its still super fun to sing!
This song is soo fun!
@amineax I am the girl @1:17. That was THE point to my doing that. It wasn't embarassing. After this performance, we ALL did the 'thinking' part. I was one of the choir clowns. What if there was a Pokémon called Jabberwock I once had a dream where there was a Pokémon called Jabberwock that is really Haxorus and the Jabberwock seems like it would be dragon type and pseudo legendary even though haxorus isn't really pseudo legendary

MEMORIES! :0
I know that this is a choral piece with several parts, and requires careful and sensitive preparation. But I find it hilarious that every so often you can see two hands with maracas in the back of the choir come up unexpectedly
Wow great tune m8
Well, that was fun!

@freshfernstudios I was part of that too, it was amazing
Brilliant.

my school did this different version though it sound different the way we did it
I learned this song in choir junior yr..and here i am a senior and for English what do we have to read and memorize...i never thought id learn anything in chior
Wonderful
That's my man Dave Martin back there on the maracas!
@kiryudragon That was something they added in. It was like adding an instrument. It has to do with the context of the song.
Who else sang along with this? (Alto here)
1st tenor
soprano 2 :))
2nd soprano here. Sang this with my community choir a few years ago and I'm eager to do it again!
Soprano 2! Singing it tonight
learning! alto 1
2:01 caught me off guard. I was wearing headphones
I love this. We did this version for All-City Choir 30 odd years ago. Crimenie, was it that long ago? lol
