    Jungle Crew - Elektric Dance (Hitman's House Mix) had crossover appeal with the new wavers in Dallas and of course overseas. Maybe because the vocoder rap instead of real RnB rap vocals? Chicago was very black centric but that was a great time where many different styles were mixed.

    LEGEND
    STILL One of my top house DJ/Producers, I use to always go over Mike Hitman Wilson or Dave Merritt house in the late 80's early 90's with Neal Howard

      Great watch. I worked with Mike for years. It was always in a club environment. I learned more about him in your interview than I knew before. He's a man of few words and speaks through his music. Great job.

    Glad you interviewed Hitman. Very underrated and has some fascinating stories that filled in some holes for me. I did a remix of Another Sleepless Night recently, and the new live baseline I did, I did have Let No Man Put Us Under in my head when I came up with it :). It’s on my channel. Thanks to both of you.

    Solid episode always fascinated with the history of house and spoke with Benji Espinoza when I would get record's from him before he passed, we would talk for a few hour's on house music history and i knew who Hitman was and listened to his track's ❤️ and the story's was priceless thank you Maurice for this podcast.

    Great interview Mo! It should have been longer and would like to see the questions that didn't make the cut. In my opinion, JMJ and Bad Boy Bill would have been a great battle in that time period. JMJ was no joke on the turntables and Mike knows that. Keep them interviews coming!

    @13:57 I have a snippet on cassette of what sounds like the voice of Doug Banks, live from the Taste of Chicago, saying that people were taking their WBMX shirts and burning them...and the crowd was chanting "GCI...GCI..." to the 117 track in the background.

    Wisdom.
    Bill D is cousins with Marshall.
    Didn’t realize Hype was your cousin.
    I also thought you got blindsided in Shawn’s deal with a clause in Whitney’s agreement: When Whitney’s album came (Waiting To Exhale) ALL other Arista artists got shelved no matter how well they charting…
    Hogwash on House Music gettin saved. Ron Trent - Altered States. All of Cajmere releases. Paul Johnson. Pierre. Roy Davis Jr. Beattracks AND vocals out.
    Hitman always been a solid dude.
    Madden Forever…

      @mkhmwn 6 місяців тому +3

      @urgentmw, thanks for the response. You are correct about Arista shutting everything down when Whitney was released. The funny thing is unbeknownst to Clive I hired Vince Pellegreno to work Shawn's records during Whitney's releases. ASN ended up charting #1 for 2 weeks, #2 for 2 weeks, #3 for 2 weeks, #4 for 2 weeks, and #5 for 2 weeks. Lol. Clive was pissed 😂

      @@mkhmwn I was so rooting for you two. Shawn would get to move on from successful jingle work. You had the baddest independently owned recording setup & best engineer in the game @ that time. If it wasn’t for the Whitney project, that REALLY could have been the catalyst for House Music ARTISTS, visibility, & regular radio rotation in the states. Really wanted to see you win… 👊🏾

    Great interview! Hitman's mix of 'Rock To The Beat' by Reese and Saunderson was soooo money...amongst his many great productions/remixes. I think his editing (cutting the tape) was pretty top notch for back then.
