Yes, especially now, after “A sign of things to come” was released - The Supreme Oppressor seems even more precious to me. And it’s not due to nostalgia. It’s the style and the lyrics.
This was the first song i ever heard by Sylosis and its still top 3 for me in their catalog. I hope some day Josh rerecords or remasters it for the fans who've been there since the beginning.
I actually just watched him on craig reynolds podcast he said he bought the rights to casting shadows and this ep they just dont have masters right now but they are getting them soon and going to release them on spotify 🙏🏾
I remember when I was studying my college exams and got the boost from this album. Back then Sylosis were travelling in a van and staying in fans' houses.
I saw Sylosis in about 2007 Supporting the Black Dahlia Murder, and they basically played this and some 'new' songs off of Conclusion of an Age. Classic times. I'd forgot all about this EP till just now. Dang
Unreal talent. Still baffles me how these guys aren't bigger than they are. Pretty bad that people recognise Josh through architects and not sylosis. Architects are amazing but still.
I think the new generation just is different… they all want the trivium hand clap moments and all the same boring breakdowns... Sylosis in that regard doesnt fit in. What i think is super sad because it is 10 times better than al those boring other bands. A few weeks ago i was at Heaven shall burn with Trivium and Obituary. Obituary is the OG death metal band there is… the crowd didnt even moshpit nothing. The younger people don’t understand the death metal vibe. En then Trivium came with its falling apart heavy moments and switch to clean poppy singing and everybody raves about it. And to be honest Obituary was way more sick then the whole boring breakdown clean vocal stuff Trivium was doing. But whatever Sylosis should keep their own sound and please not follow the trivium like trend because it sucks balls. I mean if i get asked to handclap at a death metal concert im sorry But Sylosis and Obituary had no time to play handclap because they were slaying it on the podium how metal should be. Not this poser bullshit from the new generation. Go to lady gaga then please🤌🏼🤌🏼
@@Michaeltje2.0 Yea I get what you're saying man. Death metal definitely gets the crowd going. I do actually love Trivium. Were the first metal band I listened to so got a ton of respect for bands like that. I like how death/thrash metal influenced their early music was, also what they've continued to do in their career. But like you said with Obituary, I bloody love those guys as well. Just top notch musicians all across the board. HSB are sick too.
@@Michaeltje2.0 Yea it's pretty sad that like in 2009 Sylosis were lumped into the generic metalcore bands when they were old school thrashing it in E standard like Metallica back in the day. But then the riffage was also like Children of Bodom, Opeth and Death. It's unbelievable the precision of Josh's riffs and solos as well. I remember him doing a radio interview and he was talking about not having anything against the new scene of metal but always saw the band as more of an old school metal band. Pretty sad that it's the only draw card why they weren't bigger as a band and couldn't quite break out of just the UK and Europe. But I guess they're getting more recognised now but where was that back a few years ago because the music is quality. But still I've got an unbiased opinion on metal because I love pretty much every style imaginable.
It used to be on Spotify but it's been deleted so perhaps that's why. I know, it's a tragedy! This album is soooo good, would love to hear a remastered version too!
Not to me because I find it still going strong. Not to mention that Josh Middleton is a brilliant vocalist and a genius on the guitar with the riffs he plays he definitely is the next great metal legend in the world.
Lol what a clown take, edge of the earth and monolith at their best projects and pretty much perfect. Their new album cycle of suffering is also awesome and was extremely well received, none of their stuff sucks. Imagine actually listening to edge of the earth and saying it sucks, everything just got better and the band became for refined and josh a better songwriter
Still listening in 2024. One of their best albums.
Yes it is!!! It’s criminal that these aren’t more popular. This and Casting Shadows are damn good

I dont even want a remaster i just want both ep's to be fuvking released on streaming platforms 😒

I'd forgot all about this EP till just now. Dang
I will firmly always stand on my opinion that this is the best work they’ve ever done.
I wish i could buy this and casting shadows... Love Sylosis, my favorite band pretty much.
thebigcheese3000 same! I bought every album minus those two! Been looking for years..I guess I'll have to try and contact Josh Middleton for a copy!
Same here, have all the albums and want the EPs as well. Sylosis are my favorite band and I collect music as a hobby.
They're available on Discogs, though Casting Shadows is kinda overpriced at the time of typing this imo.
ME FUCKING TOO! I would gladly pay for them!
Hmmm, I’m feeling lucky I got those!
14 years after , i always love this Album . It's just a masterpiece of Modern Heavy . Sylosis is one of my favorites band since 2007 .
25:47 i remember being in love with this riff back at highs school...sylosis delivering since day one
I hear their dying screams
Damn man, this is some good shit, I haven't heard this since I was 16, their first two albums inspired me to learn guitar 🎸
Did you learn?
Slowly Consumed and Blind Desperation🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
Awesome. Thanks for the upload.

One of the best debut albums ever
This isn't their debut.

Thank you for this....!
AND THROUGH THESE EYES YOU'LL SEE YOUR EENNNNDDDDDDDDDDD

C’mon.. sylosis blows architects out of the water lol

WHY I DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT THIS ALBUM BEFORE??!
It used to be on Spotify but it's been deleted so perhaps that's why. I know, it's a tragedy! This album is soooo good, would love to hear a remastered version too!
Fucking sick band... wow! Destructive riffs......
I hate that this isn't on Spotify in the UK 😥😥
Why is this not on Spotify? Anyone know
5th song brings back a lot of memories
Took this album off of Spotify, so sad.
I recognized this album art from old school wallpaper packs from like Windows XP. I always thought it was killer.
Best Sylosis release
Shit is awesome but edge of the earth and monolith are better imo, those are both perfect in my book. This album rules tho, josh Is a genius.
@@puppetmaster8551 I love both of those albums, but imma have to respectfully disagree, Friendo. The Supreme Oppressor is GOAT imo
Amazing 😊😊😊😊😊
super album. ı love it. top notch.
anyone knows where I can buy this album?
wow this albums fucking sick
Why is it not on Spotify?
2022 ❤️
Slowly Consumed lml
Best Jam of the EP and One of my Favorite Metal Solo's of ALL TIME!!!
25:40
8:30 :F
jamie sound rough In the whole album, I feel like he was going through a rough time with his vocals, really harsh and damaging sound
11:38, 12:29, 15:18
First 3 albums, new, stuff, sucks
Not to me because I find it still going strong. Not to mention that Josh Middleton is a brilliant vocalist and a genius on the guitar with the riffs he plays he definitely is the next great metal legend in the world.
It was over, lost the singer, now suck
@@davidcarter418 Imagine if opinions were subjective
I prefer the first 3 albums too, but newer ones are also better than any other band's album though
