“I didn’t want to resort to the standard use of a motorcross bike, which is convenient for jumps and tricks," said second unit director Vic Armstrong. "Instead, we went for the biggest, heaviest, and most unwieldy bike - the BMW R1200C Cruiser - and I built the chase around it."

Tomorrow never dies always have a special place in my heart. The over the top parking lot scene, bike scene and even the intro was amazing.
That, my friend, is the magic of Roger Deakins at work. He also did the cinematography for 1984, Shawshank Redemption, Fargo, The Big Lebowski, A Beautiful Mind, Oh Brother Where Art Thou, No Country For Old Men, The Assassination of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford, True Grit, Rango, Blade Runner 2049, and 1917. I honestly don't think there's a person in Hollywood better at making a scene look beautiful than him.

I love the beginning of this clip, with Bond and Wai Lin having a spat over who gets to drive. The director took both of them aside, without informing the other, and told them not to let the other get in the driver's seat. Thus, we get this great bit of improv comedy.

Wai Lin ranks as one of the best Bond Girls in the series. Smart, tough, attractive and confidient. She is just as efficient as 007 at doing her job. Both make a really good team.

Brosnan’s Bond films maybe over the top;
But my, they sure are MUCH more entertaining and FUN than the rest. This chase, BMW parking garage chase, GoldenEye’s bungee jump, tank chase, TWINE’s opening boat chase, and yes, even DAD’s car chase on ice.
Isn’t this the whole point of us going to movies?
Agree with all of those except the DAD car chase, can't think of a more boring action scene, just two cars against a plain empty backdrop.

When Bond films were out & out entertainment and didn't take itself too seriously.... Loved every minute of this! Brosnan was an awesome Bond too.

Agreed. Two things really elevate this scene:
1) The camerawork
2) The music
As a Malaysian, I'm really happy to see Michelle Yeoh in international film screens. Not many Malaysians have such a capability.

The top--twin-blades were CGI (for that scene). The rest of the helicopter was real. (And they did it like that, for safety-&-security reasons).
I saw the Behind-The-Scenes documentaries for this movie.
The blades would have been knocked off easily.

Pierce was great Bond, he really was. Every generation usually identifies with the Bond of they're generation, mine was Daniel, but Pierce was a good one. I believe he gets overlooked alot of the time, but he's a good actor
mine was sorta both i was born in 96, but grew up with older siblings , but IDC Pierce is Bond to me
Like them all personally. Granted each Bond actor has a different flavor, so it's w/e I feel like watching.
Die Another Day was the first Bond movie I saw, so I guess that makes Brosnan the Bond of my generation. I still admire his dry wit and laid-back masculinity.
Pierce Brosnan was my Bond. I always tell people to look at him circa GoldenEye and Ian Fleming's drawing of Cmdr. Bond. They're spitting images of each other.
I grew up with Craig (my first memory of seeing James Bond was him getting his balls smashed), but I actually prefer Brosnan. Goldeneye is my favorite Bond movie.
This was IMO where Pierce Brosnan really hit his stride as Bond. Teaming him with Michelle Yeoh was genius and this could’ve been a back door pilot film for a spin-off series of her own

Yeah it was. Would have been far too dangerous to use a real helicopter blade with real people, and of course, it wouldn’t stay still like it does in the movie, rather it would crash into the ground, that bit is very silly, but who cares really?

I'll watch Craig's last one when it's released, but I'm hoping the next Bond returns to a more Brosman-like character. Although that seems unlikely as rumors have been circulating saying the next Bond will be...."modern" if you will.

It is not really underrated it was big hit in 97 and made more at box office then Goldeneye
Most of Brosman films are pretty underrated. I really want to see more of his films. Its a shame he had a tough life and doesn't probably act thaf much mow.
Ayanjit he keeps busy acting and had a tv show from 2017-2019 called The Son but in recent years he has been in thrillers The November Man and comedies

Ayanjit he is 67 and still acting strong but he has dealt with some tragedies in his life including his first wife to ovarian cancer in 91 and lost his adopted daughter Charlotte to cancer as well in 2013 to same cancer that her mom actress Cassandra Harris died from.

Michelle Yeoh I think was the best Bond girl during Pierce Brosnan films. As all the girls appear weak and fragile, as Michelle’s character is strong, independent, capable. She modernised the future of Bond girls. So pleased she won her Oscar as a brilliant actress.

Somehow I missed this one. This is wonderfully filmed and edited. The chase is never confusing, you never lose spatial awareness of the different elements, there are no quick cuts just for the sake of cuts. Someone did their job on the back end.
But that part at the end is so cringe. Someone didn't understand how a helicopter works.

@@vex123 , the helicopters blades are CGI. They used a chopper prop to film the low-ground movements and the explosion. It's a cross between practical effects and and CGI, which they managed to pull off nicely.

I love every scene of this clip...especially the entry of music...
That was exciting as hell. You can tell how hard the filmmakers thought about this concept. The romanticism of them handcuffed together, needing the other half to ride the bike; how Wai Lin is such an equal to Bond despite being this skinny little twig; the frisson between the chinese Wai and white bond; the helicopter being sort of limber just like them in terms of being able to follow them through the city streets. It all combines.
Man, no matter how silly this movie is, I still love the pairing of Brosnan and Yeoh.
Still one of the most inventive and thrilling chases I have ever seen.
Nobody ever asks, "who's going to pay for all the damage?" But a fun scene, nonetheless.

@@pjosepha Timothy Dalton is definitely the best actor of them all. Can one even challenge a classically trained british stage actor? However, i don't think Bond needs such refinement, he's an archetype. Sean Connery had the raw animal charisma that Roger Moore didn't have, but lacked the class and wit that Roger Moore had. I believe Pierce Brosnan had the perfect blend of both, and he's my absolute favorite Bond. Just respectfully sharing my personal opinion! 🙂

A shame that Bronsan's era was overlooked, I liked all the films. Admittedly the laughable CG doesn't hold up well at all (the surfing scene after he outruns the satellite laser is just comedic) but I don't understand the dislike beyond that.

This was pierce's best bond film in my opinion and had several elements of the older films mixed in.
This is the best action scene in the movie
A bike is more quick and able to fit into tighter spaces
Plus the rooftops provide more escape routes
Pierce and Michelle made essentially a rom-com here if you think about it

Love the fact that though 007 is a cold blooded killer, towards the end of the scene he sees innocent civilians in danger of being hurt or killed and goes "I'm not having that!"
He will kill the bad guys but he won't let innocent civilians get hurt.

In one of the Bond books - Thunderball? - Bond is physically sick at the killing and maiming of innocent bystanders when a bomb is detonated in a public place.

Tomorrow Never Dies is my favorite! And i love the movies with connery, dalton, lazenby and craig. But this one Has really god and fun Action. The movie Show the Power of Media and Has a Bond girl who isnt a douchebag. Even the soundtrack is the Best in the whole series. It had its flaws but i like it the most.
