Thanks! I typically get those bigger bluegill in deeper rock piles. If you are getting small ones really shallow, I’ll try to drop lower and pull the bigger ones out! Doesn’t always work but I feel like the bigger ones are tighter to structure and a little deeper
Best I would say is April and May for spring and October and November for fall. Mid summer is pretty rough. A lot of them are spawning and are just harder to catch. Also January to February is usually really slow. I usually fish for flats from March till June, fish for other species in the summer, and then resume again around September till December for Arizona. Other states are different. Bartlett has been pretty slow and will be slow for a while. You 100% can catch them year round but it’s definitely less right now
@@TDFishing thanks bro I’m from flagstaff so still kinda local but we had no flatties so it’s a whole other world for me to learn . I’ve studied them a lot and I think the bite is so trash rn bc of the spawn definitely it’s peak season until August right? My buddy caught a 32 pounder but that’s been it we’ve been hours on the banks with nothing but maybe a channel or 2. Thanks for that info though that really helps. I’ve been skunked so much this last month I might give up until maybe mid August lol
@Jesusbeni47 haha no problem at all! Yeah, enjoy nicer weather fishing for a while 😂 that’s what I do. It’s hot as hell until September lol you’ll enjoy other fishing more right now over a random lucky flathead here and there haha
Could you make a video where you are like. Setup here because, im in this deep of water setup on a slope. Someone like me who is new to boating. And flathead fishing could learn from. Why don’t you just setup where you wan your lines to be?
I would like to make a video like that soon. Some of it is not wanting to give away ALL the secrets and a lot of it is me forgetting to actually comment on video of exactly what I’m doing/thinking haha I’m not the best at actually documenting things since I’ve been flathead fishing for 20 years now. I do setup close to where I want to be but sometimes it’s impossible. Say there is a good rock pile and submerged trees spaced away from each other. If I was anchoring on top of it, I might not be able to fish both without a kayak. I still like anchoring on top of a spot I think is decent so if I have a couple people on the boat, one of us will fish straight under the boat. I fish a lot of transition spots where the river channel comes closer to shore, points, drop offs, ledges, and honestly sometimes just open water if I think fish are moving. The prespawn bite will have flatheads actively moving a lot so sometimes fishing away from structure can be good. I still recommend fishing near them though. Flatheads will typically hangout in rocks and heavier structure during the day and then move around more at night to feed. If a flathead catches food where it’s hanging out, it might not leave that spot for a while. Hope that helps a little bit! I’ll try and get better recording my thought process during the actual trip
Hell yea bro that's was a nice catch!
Thanks man!!
Very nice but I’d like to know where u got bluegills that big. 👍

@@TDFishingthis, exactly what you just said has been my secret for YEARS
When would you say is the best time for flats ? Worst time? The bite has been super slow been to barlett 3 times with nothing but a few channels

How about you come fish on my new boat. Hehe
Does this hurt the fish?
Depends on which fish 😂
Damn. Nice fish. Kind of disappointed though. I was hoping to hear some Mexican banda at 4am in Bartlett Flats...
Haha me too. Can’t go too long without getting serenaded by the beautiful ambient Bartlett noises 😂
I'll bring my trombone @@TDFishing you bring the Bud Light. jajajajajajaja
@@MexicoPescadoro sounds like a plan!! Haha
How do you catch your bluegill out there?
Usually worms on a sliding bobber rig! They go deep when the water is colder and shallow when it’s warmer
Is this when the water is up during the springtime? looks pretty high for bartlett
Yep, it was last summer
