For beginners, Pokémon can only know 4 moves at once. When a Pokémon that already knows 4 moves has the opportunity to learn a new move, you can choose to not learn the move, or learn the move, but forget a move the Pokémon already knows.
PP (Power Points) is how many "uses" a move has. When you run out of PP, you can't use the move anymore. When all your moves run out of PP, you can only use Struggle, an unlearnable move.
You can only have 6 Pokémon on you at a time. If you get a new Pokémon when you already have 6. The new Pokémon goes to storage (PC). Starting from Generation 7, you have the option to send the new Pokémon to storage, or keep the new Pokémon, but send a Pokémon already on you to storage. Storage has over 100 spaces for Pokémon, and gets bigger with every generation (so you can catch 'em all). Pokémon Centers (there's one in every town) Have a machine that allows you to check storage. You can pick your team from storage and what's already on you using the machine. Before Gen 4, your bag, where you carry items with you, had limited space. If you had a full bag, you couldn't any items. To empty your bag, you'd go to the storage machine, and put some items from your bag in there. You can take items from storage and put them in your bag using the machine.

Is it funny I wrote an essay on how a video game became popular, and I chose Pokemon. Great video Zac, I definitely felt I was retaught the basics of Pokemon all over again. Keep up your awesome content dude.
even though im 5 years late, im so grateful for this video. growing up in Turkey, i never had the chance to grow up with pokemon as nintendo products were more than double their price due to heavy taxxing on consoles (our only console at home ever was a wii with only two games). The cartoon was also banned from airing due to the concerns that children would "jump off high places influenced by the series" ('cause you know, parents aren't responsible with keeping their children monitored...) and I always wanted to get into the series as a SUCKER for fictional creatures. Pokemon being widely referenced in the anglosphere, as a bilingual kid, made me want to seek it out even more. Now that I finally have my own PC that can run emulators as a teenager, I'm trying to catch up with the years of the franchise that I missed. Bless your heart for making an excellent video :)

I'm with you Zac, I also watch Pokémon for many years and really love the anime, but I haven't really play any games until I got Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee! , which was my first game. I got my first experience as a actual Pokémon trainer when I played that game and really enjoy bonding with my Partner Pikachu, and work hard together with my Pokémon to become stronger! I also enjoy more of my journey into Galar in the newest and latest game Pokémon Sword and Shield! Those two games are totally the best ones that I ever have the most fun experience in Pokémon! I was 3 years old when I first watched the indigo league anime in 2000. I also saw Pokémon the first movie. It has been my dream to ride on arcanine since the indigo league anime. I’m now 21 years old and I’ve never stop loving Pokémon. But I haven’t played the games since 2004 and 2006. Leaf green and diamond and pearl. You forgot to mention ev’s and iv’s. And breeding as well
I’m a long time fan, recently I’ve been going back and 100% finishing every game other than event things, I’ve finished gen 1-4 100% on all, also I 100% Pokémon white and am now playing Pokémon black 2 about halfway through the game. Also when I say 100% I mean every single Pokémon, every badge, A full team of level 100s, every battle fought, every item found. It’s been a good 6 months of this, I started this because I 100% finished Sword and Shield.
This video may be old but, ive always wanted to draw my attention to pokemon, i used to watch it when i was young but it just broke the bridge and never seen it again, but i want it to bring it back and want to learn more about the pokemon franchise, this video is cool and help me to get in the pokemon quick! ^^
Lumiose Trainer Zac, You make a good point. In 2016 I never new what Pokémon was until the XYZ season came out. At first, I thought it was lame, but then friend of mine showed me one of the first episodes in the anime. That episode was called Primeape Goes Bananas. As I was watching the whole episode, I was getting interested. So I watched the next episode whose name I can’t remember. And I thought I was cool too, so I kept watching more episodes and one of my favorite Pokémon of ashes was Charizard. Soon after I got my New Nintendo 3Ds XL, I heard about the first games Pokémon Red and Blue and how they were released in the 1990s. Soon I heard that they were now on the 3ds, virtually downloaded. When I got the the game on my 3Ds, and I went to the prof. Oaks lab, I realized that all the starters are the starter Pokémon ash has on his team. Although I could only pick one, I new one of favorite Pokémon was Chariazrd and that it can evolve from Charmander, so I picked Charmander. However, after a got my 8th gym badge, all my Pokémon were at level 38, and I knew that the elite four was way stronger than that. So I couldn’t complete Pokémon red. But after a while of not playing Pokémon but watching the anime, I got Pokémon Y for my birthday in September 2017. Although I was getting ahead of my self since I had very little experience with Pokémon games, I wanted to try the Pokémon game on a 3Ds. But because of Pokémon Y and the XY and XYZ anime, I gained more experience and knowledge about Pokémon. Now there was a channel called Brogamer channel. And at that time he did an Ash vs Alain battle, but with ash using his strongest Pokémon. Charizard, Greninja, Infernape, Krookodile, Snorlax, and Sceptile. So I used that team for my Pokémon Y game. 2 months later, I got Pokémon Sun, then another 2 months later, I got Pokémon Ultra Sun. However during October, I realized that that isn’t my dream team. Although, the game, XY, and XYZ anime, taught me more, I still haven’t learned enough. I still had lots to learn. Soon, I looked up every Pokémon Ever on google, and after some searching, I learned that there are currently over 800 Pokémon. I was blown away by this. But I also learned about the regions in the Pokémon anime. Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, Kalos, and Alola and that all the Pokémon were place in a certain home region. At first i wanted to choose the fire type starter for every regional game, but after watching the anime even more, I realized what I want my teams to be for every region. I didn’t have to copy ash completely, I just had to choose Pokémon that catch my attention more. And after watching videos of you tubers of what ash’s teams should have been, I decided to use some of those teams and replace some of those Pokémon on those teams with Pokémon l like more. For example, one UA-camr did a teams ash should had for Johto: Typhlosion, Pikachu, Feraligatr, Meganium, Donphan, and Tyranitar. I knew I couldn’t be able to get the starters or tyranitar since I can’t get all three starters and Larvitar can’t be caught until I get till mount silver, which is the in post game. So I replaced those Pokémon with other and this is my team for Pokémon Crystal on my 3Ds: Pikachu, Typhlosion, Shiny Gyarados, Noctowl, Togetic, and Heracross. I took that I used that for my other games. After I got Ultra sun, the first video I watched from your channel was “Ash Greninja Finally Solved!” It really caught my attention. I wanted to get that Pokémon for my game. After that I heard that ash Greninja can be used in Pokémon Sun and can transported to Ultra sun using Pokémon. And I did that. After a while of playing the games and watching, I learned a lot about Pokémon and soon became a huge fan of it. Now I am 15 years old and I have six Pokémon main series games. Throughout the past 2 years I gained tons of knowledgeable and experience about Pokémon and became I huge Pokémon fan. No matter what, I will never stop loving Pokémon.
My first Pokemon Game was Pokemon X, and it made me fall even more in love with Pokemon, Kalos was my first ever Pokemon journey! Pokemon Diamond and Pearl are my favorite to this day, and I still love it!

You should play either gold, silver,or Crystal.l(All generation 2 games)They are really good games. And has the kanto region in the games as one of the 2 regions you can explore.
I played these games without any knowledge on how the game works so I just grind my Pokemon to highest level possible. Now I realized there are so many things I missed out. Gonna replay the old gba Pokemon games soon!
I'm here as a gamer that has never played a Pokémon game mostly because my parents didn't want me to play certain games when I was younger. But now a good friend of mine surprised me by giving me an eshop gift card for Pokémon BDSP so yea... time to give this franchise a shot :D
Yo my G, thanks for making this video. I am new to the series and running around clueless in Let's Go. I have be collecting Pokemon but I did not understand the types, IV's and all that other stuff. Thanks for making things clear.
Anyone else here because their friend likes Pokémon and you want to understand what they're talking about and make conversation about it since they enjoy it so much-
I've been a huge Pokémon fan since Diamond Pearl but I couldn't play many games due to money issues, and now that I do play I just don't understand certain things :( I'm trying to learn all about the best non physical attacks, every types weaknesses, etc. I saw plenty of videos of people with low, weak Pokémon winning from strong Pokémon. I want to understand how! it's awesome!
This video is exactly what I was looking for! My boyfriend loves Pokémon and I wanted to understand what he is talking about 😅 Your video cleared up so much for me! Thank you!
This was the video I needed! I want to finally start playing Pokémon and needed some education about the games. I just don’t know which game to start with. Would “Let’s Go” be a good choice?
Pokemon Sword will be my first Pokemon game ever! Your video is amazing (subscribed). I am in Japan, any recommendation of something cool to bring back Pokemon-related? Thanks.
Maybe start with the basics and get the old ones like red, blue, or yellow. Like I said they are the old ones and if you don't like that then its fine to get the newer ones like sword and shield. All pokemon games are pretty much the same but also very different, you'll see. You may want to get the game that has the coolest pokemon on the box art, and thats fine 🙂
I know what Pokémon is and how to beat it.. but I came here wondering which Pokémon you should train. If your gonna fill the pokedex I don't understand which you should put on your team.
I would Personally recommend Beginners to use Protect Or Detect To understand battles more and It would reduce the damage from Z Moves drastically. What Do You Think About It Zac?
The Intro perfectly explains me Man I remember my first journey in White 2 I Made some many dumb mistakes ( Ha Ha get it I was just like Ash) Like when I fought white kyreum I kept using my master ball on it like an idiot
I really want to get into the Pokémon fandom, I have friends helping me get into it. But my question that I have is, do you have to watch the Pokémon series in order? I’m not saying the old ones are awful, it’s just that I would rather spend time watching the new ones but I don’t know if it is important for me to watch them in order.
Me: *Clicks on video by someone I've never seen before* Me: I hope they don't ask me to like subscribe and bell before I've even watched the video. First 5 Seconds Of Video: DON'T FORGET TO BUY MY MERCH! Me: *exits video, uses Channel Blocker chrome extension to prevent me from making the same mistake*
Now lets explain EVs And IVs, Egg Moves , Abilities, Ultrawormholes, Megaforms and how they effect the timeline.

“Mew, the mythical first pokemon, can i contain you in a random metal ball i just picked up off the floor?”
He means that you need to evolve pokemon to get every Pokémon
This is going to help my little brother :) thanks
People who are already Pokemon fans new this but still watched this
Yo I DIED when you put Future up there LMAO
I had trouble finding towns and city's when I first started playing.
Me too!
This is great cause I eat sleep and breath Pokémon but have never played the game
I want to understand how! it's awesome!
thanks zac now I am ready to go catch em all
This video is exactly what I was looking for! My boyfriend loves Pokémon and I wanted to understand what he is talking about 😅 Your video cleared up so much for me! Thank you!
Your bf is really lucky to have you as his gf 🤪
This was the video I needed! I want to finally start playing Pokémon and needed some education about the games. I just don’t know which game to start with. Would “Let’s Go” be a good choice?
Yes!
I think so I started with Pokemon x
@@username11346 I started in ruby during diamond and pearl days
Pokemon Sword will be my first Pokemon game ever! Your video is amazing (subscribed). I am in Japan, any recommendation of something cool to bring back Pokemon-related? Thanks.
I love the passion on the video and this comment section, but where do I start?
I've never played any pokemon games but I want to start playing.. which game should I start with and where can I get it?
Maybe start with the basics and get the old ones like red, blue, or yellow. Like I said they are the old ones and if you don't like that then its fine to get the newer ones like sword and shield. All pokemon games are pretty much the same but also very different, you'll see. You may want to get the game that has the coolest pokemon on the box art, and thats fine 🙂
Great video 😄
Thanks for the vid dude! I’m trying to get my friends into Pokémon and this is the perfect video for it!!!
I know I'm just a kid so my first game was pretty recent so my first game was pokemon sun
I had a Pokemon ad halfway through this, wha
Hehe the Pokémon company should pay you for making this video. Good job! 👍🏼
Actually dismayed that he didn't get sued 🤪
Good video man. I have never played/seen pokemon but I'm gonna get in on the next one. Do another video like this before sword and shield comes out.
Do I have to watch pokemon season 1?Because pokemon have a lot of seasons. What season should I start with?🤔
You can choose but season 1 is the best way to get to know the beginning of Ash's journey.
Honestly, I would start from BW as it resets Ashs character and is fairly brand new.
@@Firstfall_Trading thank you for the information!

Me: I hope they don't ask me to like subscribe and bell before I've even watched the video.
First 5 Seconds Of Video: DON'T FORGET TO BUY MY MERCH!
Me: *exits video, uses Channel Blocker chrome extension to prevent me from making the same mistake*
just play the game and over time you'll get the hang of it, master the basics then go learn about natures , ivs and stuff
