The Akai AMX is just what I'm using at this time but the same applies with any Serato enabled device ie; djm-S9, Mixars duo, Denon ds1, Rane sl box etc.....
Hiya....I'm a complete novice so I have a few questions if you don't mind helping me plse? I have the ndx500 with no software as yet...dunno which serato bundle I need, although after my next question I think I will need serato dj pro cuz I'd like to know if I can use my m-audio oxygen25 midi keyboard controller for effects? Do I set up the same as your effects controller? And I'm confused about what to plug into a usb hub and what to plug into laptop (sorry🤦🏻♀️) 1 usb cable from each deck to a hub? Where do I plug the midi keyboard controller into? Cuz I want to be able to use it for both decks Do I plug it straight into back of mixer? Oh and how do I use effects in serato dj pro? Via the controls on laptop or the decks? Just wondering how to use the effects if I chose not to connect the midi keyboard controller
Okay trying to answer your question as complete as possible to access the Serato effects you're going to need some kind of controller, I use official Serato accessories either the reloop Neon or the Pioneer DDJ xp2. These controllers are already mapped to Serato, if you use your keyboard you're going to have to map the keys to Serato and for that you're going to have to watch a video on how to map. So to avoid that I just went and purchased those official Serato accessories. Now the reloop neon is good but you can only operate one channel at a time you have to push a button to switch the channel that you wish to operate, the DDJ xp2 has dual channels no buttons to push just go straight to it. Now if you have a number of USB connections to make a good powered USB hub is suggested all of those secondary devices controllers and media players can be plugged into the USB hub you then plug your mixer and hard drive directly into your computer. Once you've made your connections your secondary controller will access Serato effects. The reloop Neon in effects mode the first three buttons trigger the effect the harder you press the more intense no knobs turn just to push of a button, the Pioneer DDJ xp2 has a touch strip and buttons you press a button you slide touch strip and the effect is activated, now on a device like your keyboard it depends on how you map the device. In the UA-cam search type in Serato mapping there are several videos that can show you how to map your keyboard with Serato. I hope that was helpful if you need further instruction just ask I'll help if I can.
@@elliel2k2 hi hun....thankyou so much for your time and advice I really appreciate it 🙏🏼🤙🏽😎 Very well explained....although my keyboard has beats pads on it so should be ok to map I saw a video last night where he showed how to swap controls for effects for example but that was with a dj controller unit not an external device I'm willing to give it a go before resorting to buying something else I'm only just starting out but feel I'm missing out not having any effects How do you use the effects within serato pro with your numarks then? Can you use the laptop controls within the serato to do them? Sorry for any silly questions lol
@@twisted_sista_bmccleanmiss6048 well as i explained before the two devices are pre mapped to Serato ready to use right out the box. each device have their own way to trigger the effect. The Serato you tube channel have tourtorial videos on each device. before i buy anything these I do my research and watch all the videos relative to device. I could tell you in this message but I feel you would get more out watching it in action. I can tell you this everything connects to your computer via USB cable, once Serato detects the devices you can then map them or use right away if pre mapped.

To be honest that always confused me, I'm strictly a 2 ch. DJ. But using Serato I believe you could, but the deck change over is not that simple with the ndx500's. I've only done Deck select when starting up. Unlike Denon's Numark does not claim dual deck feature for the ndx500's
Yoh, Dj LIL, thank you forthis video bro.🙂 I'm thinking of getting my first pair of ndx500s. I need to know something though. Can I play on two decks with one cdj on my 4 channel mixer like I would on a 4 channel controller?
@jonathon watson even if you have an external interface ie: rane sl box or denon ds1 the hid connection will work. (The HID CONNECTION IS FOR SERATO ONLY) . You must have a device to open up Serato, then the ndx500 can connect to the software via hid mode
Good Evening. I want to ask you if I buy 2 ndx 500 how the 2 are connected to each other so that in the serato dj I have the elengo from 1 player the deck 1 and from the 2 player the deck 2? Need a cable? Thanks. My name is Akis from Greece.
The ndx500 are not connected to each other, they are both connected to the computer via USB cable. So you don't tie up all the USB ports on your computer you need to use a USB hub. once connected to the computer and link to Serato cycle through using the eject button to select which deck you want the player to represent.
Eric I put an ndx 500 on the Laptop but it doesn't open the serato dj. When I go to my serato it says serato is activated but still it doesn't read it. Maybe drivers or something else. Help me please
@@akisvlachogiorgos5057 I don't remember downloading driver's for ndx500 but if needed go to Numark website for any drivers. Make sure Serato is in internal mode and link ndx500's. Make sure you adjust source button to midi (3 clicks) then deck select using the eject button, this tell Serato which deck you want the player to control. NDX500s will not open Serato because they are accessories, you will need an interface ie; Serato enabled mixer or Serato box. I use an Akai AMX with mine.
Connecting the USB cables to your computer and linking the ndx500's in hid mode (internal) it should work but I'm not 100% sure as I've only used Serato dj pro. Try it out and see.
@@Patwlive well from my point of view it's worth it to get the upgrade to pro. Once you pay for the license you can use it with any future hardware purchase. Got mine with the purchase of a vestax vci300 back in 2011, free updates for life.

Yeah as long as the mixer is compatible with Serato. The hid connection is actually with the software, not the mixer.
