    Jim, thanks for the vids!! Huge supporter of your Alpha JYM. I was diagnosed with a pituitary tumor 7 years ago (acromegaly), which has since been removed. I totally changed my exercise technique and leveraged your supplement line versus medications to balance hormone-irregularities. Gotta say, in my case, improved diet, your varying exercise tips, and your all natural supplements...this ol' body is back to "normal" without any medications. Thank you sir!! You may not know it, but you changed my life.

    I'll use this version next time i do cable crunches! And thank you by the way for all the guidance on my recent fitness journey. Just watching your videos makes me feel like you're my personal trainer. Miles above any other fitness figure I've tried to follow. I just finished short cut to size and feel like a new man!

    At my gym has the back support pad which makes me able to alway be in just the right position to do the crunch. I've worked my way up to 60 reps of 50 pounds and as high as 110 pounds for 4 reps. I also use the ab coaster machine with 60 pounds to hit lower abs and obliques because you can "coast" 3 positions, front, left, and right. These are generally my only ab excercises expcept I occasionally do a weighted plank as a finisher.
    I was wondering if I was doing the standing cable crunch correctly, but after watching your video, I realized I am. It has helped me achieve a "4 pack" that pops out all the time, not just a few minutes after the excercise. I know it would help if I lost an inch in my waist and I am trying to do that as well.

    Hi. Thanks for the video. I notice people traditionally do a combination of crunches and leg raises to work the upper and lower abs. This cable exercise exercises the upper abs, if I understand correctly. In a separate video, you showed how to do cable leg raises. You mentioned in that video that the exercise targets the quads. But would the cable leg raises also hit those lower abs? Thanks.

    been doing them for years and never see anybody else doing them in any gym, guess they're just catching on? exercises will do that once someone see's someone else doing them? another version is the side crunch as in right elbow to left knee and vice versa. usually, go 100 reps with 45-60 ibs for 3 sets then max with 110-120 lbs.or whatever is on the rack for 1-2 sets of 10-15 reps. Either way my forearms usually give out before my gut unless you use deadlift or puul down straps for added hold but where's the logic in that since you're not strengthening your grip to serious muscle failure.

    I noticed you inhale as you are performing the concentric and exhale after the eccentric, is that the best breathing technique for all ab work?

    isnt this more like a sit up or a a psoas excercise vs an isolated ab crunch?

    • @little8940
      @little8940 4 роки тому

      All depends on which muscles you use. Flex the abs first, then crunch with the abs, not moving the hips.

    the handle of our cable machine at the gym isnt a rope, but the long bar. It cant be replaced with the triangle holder but that's pretty much it. So how do i perform this exercise with those types of handle?

    Does this burn good amount of belly fat?

    • @zaxanq
      @zaxanq 2 роки тому

      No exercise will burn belly fat. You have to think of it another way: while exercising you are using energy ("burn calories") which you later provide with food. If you want to reduce your body fat (aka get lean or maybe even shredded) you have to have a calorie deficit, meaning day by day you have to consume less calories than your body requires. This of course results in feeling less strong, less happy and feeling hungry (at least at beginning) - this is called reduction.
      But reducing body fat is not "partial", you cannot lose fat just in one place, e.g. belly. You will lose it +/- equally on your body, with small differences depending on your genetics. This is a painful truth, especially for women, who would love to lose weight on belly and thighs, at the same time keeping their breasts or glutes.
      By exercising you are simply making your body use more energy, as well as refining your muscles, so you get two birds with one stone. Other option would be to not exercise at all and you could lose weight too, but it would have to be done by eating less food and you are not improving your muscles.
