Putting LED's or HID's in a car that wasn't made for them is a great way to blind everyone else on the road. The reflectors inside the lamp housing also need to be adjusted if you're going to do this.

@@TheKaptejn how? The reflectors of the lamp housing cannot be adjusted. Aiming isn't the problem either. The issue is that you need to replace the entire housing for a special design for LEDs. You know those idiots you see driving towards you blinding you with their stupid bright headlights that spread in all directions instead of being aimed where they are supposed to be? Those are people who put led bulbs into a regular car headlight housing. Or, they are driving a jeep, which have terrible headlights and also are spread too wide into oncoming traffic.

Take it from me, and learn from my mistakes. If you have reflector housings, make sure you get LED’s that are specific for your car. This way the Light emitting diodes are in the right place, comparable to where the burning filament would be with the halogen. Additionally, make sure you adjust your headlights off a wall as to make sure you aren’t blinding other drivers, because they are BRIGHT. Like DAYLIGHT.

    • @keenanhenry95
      @keenanhenry95 2 роки тому +6

It's sad that not enough people know this. I complain every single day about being blinded by drivers in Orlando. They don't give a rat's behind about anyone else, as long as they can illuminate the road as brightly as they want. Totally unnecessary in most areas because there are adequate streetlights on the majority of the roadways.

  • @astanisystems

It's not that easy to install LED or HID bulbs. It's not just a swap. In majority of vehicles, you need to mod the weather seal cap so that LED housing can fit as no LED will work great unless it has a housing containing driver and cooling fan. HID on the other hand have a ballast, and that ballast needs to go through the cap. With this, you need to drill a hole through the cap in order to fit either of these light bulb types. Furthermore proper adjustment of the headlight pattern and you're good to go. If you have projector headlights, don't bother using LED bulbs for that as those suck in terms of brightness while inside projectors, use HID instead.
I hope this bit of information helps. I drive a Golf Mk2, so I don't need to worry about all that crap with the weather sealing cap, but you may have to. Note: some headlights can only support halogen bulbs due to their design. Test before replacing.

A good set of leds are like $80 and then you have to worry if they need to be CANBUS compatible and if they aren’t you have to get like a $20 anti flicker connector too

Actual "Wrap Vinyl" doesn't hurt a basic factory paint job, or a PROPER HomeMade paint job. The old vinyl leaves Glue, or a bad paint job (possibly) won't hold on to the car when pulling the WrapVinyl off

You didn't mention that some vehicles require a module or resistor for replacement LED headlights. The flickering is caused by the vehicle's computer power module which is programmed for incandescent bulbs, not LEDs. Some replacement LEDs include this, some don't.

Cheap "mod" 1: apply rain repellant on your windscreen, help you see clear during deluge. also easier to get dead bugs off.
Cheap "mod" 2: add wiper fluid additives to keep the windscreen clean when you use the windscreen flush.
"Cheap" mod 3: get a headlamp polish pack to clear up the 'haze' on old headlamps. Car looks like new again.

I just bought an used 2021 Subaru Impreza hatchback sport in manual and thought it doesn't have much of an engine, it is still fun to drive. I did just add window louvers, under floor lighting, grill reflective tape, overhead door Blue bulb, Red lighted interior trim, and various other additions. ....It at least looks sporty LoL 🏹🤠👍

Good luck performing faster gear shifts in a manual than in my automatic. xD It changes gears in 0.2 seconds.
Also, don't underestimate the power of good quality halogen light bulbs.
LED's give out 100% light right away, but as they get "warmer", their output lights can be redused down to somewhere between 70-90% depending on the production quality of said LEDs.
LED's are not designed to be fitted inside halogen lamps. Not only will you get the wrong light destribution, you'll also blind the oncoming traffic. There's a reason why OEM LED headlights are not a single "bulb", but they are actively controlled by an ECM and a camera to detect the surroundings. One of the reasons is to cut the light, so you're shielding the oncoming traffic from being blinded.
And to adjust the lights down won't help much either, because the light will bounce off the asphalt. Regular cars won't be as much affected as that oncoming 18-wheeler will, because of the height of the driver.
Installing aftermarket LED bulbs in a non-compatible headlamp is a douce move against the other drivers on the road and can cause the oncoming driver to be blinded for extended time after the passing. That can be fatal at night, if there's people walking on the road side with no reflective equipment of some sort.
It will be the same as you would be driving with your full-beams on all the time.

Just to let people know, not that yall will see this anyway, you should not rest your hand on your shifter in a manual car. On newer cars it might be better, not sure, why take the chance? Reasoning is you are moving the shifter around slightly even if you dont realize it which can cause a few issues down the line. Thats also why you shouldnt rest your foot on the clutch. Although that doesnt take away from the fact that a custom shift knob can be cool

0:00 Here in Malaysia attending a car meet can be considered a lifetime experience. Car meets here are so scarce, even before the pandemic, so that goes to show how lucky you are Americans to have plenty of car meets while a Malaysian would be lucky to attend a car meet, even a small one, in their lifetime. Because in developing countries, cars aren't being seen the same way that car enthusiasts see. Malaysia, or really, most developingalso has a drought of car communities and enthusiasts because there aren't enough support for car communities here. Being a car guy feels like nothing much than just owning a cool car.
So again, that goes to show how lucky you, Americans regarding car culture.

Don't buy rain visors that rely only on tape to adhere to the car. Only buy the kind that also have clips that slide under the window molding, otherwise one day after many cycles of heat, cold and rain, the adhesive will deteriorate and you'll watch the visor fly off toward your fellow motorists on the highway like I did.
