Absolutely adore this build mate. I'm only young, but wanting to buy land out in the bush and build my own fairly small house on it as I'm an apprentice, so I rlly appreciate the time and effort it took you to do this, let alone record it at the same time!!

Glad you enjoyed it. My theory is to build a bunch of small buildings like this on a property. Separate Kitchen, Sleeping Quarters, Living space etc. Simple functional constructions. We do not need 40 Squares to live in. A bedroom where your body heat warms the room is a pretty good option.

I love the way you handeled the task with a manual saw. I thought that without an electric saw you could not do the job, but you sir proved me wrong. Great job!

Thanks 👍. I did end up getting a drop saw for the treated external palings as they were so wet they were almost impossible to cut with a hand saw. It just stuck in the wood. I could have let them dry a bit but I was too impatient.

Yes, great work, curious to know what you do for a living, did't think tradie, because despite two pairs of well used boots, no tool belt, very few cans of beer and it took until almost the end of the video to see a site radio. I did notice a slab of water though lol.
Great effort mate, especially all the extra work moving ladders and temp clamping because you were on your own.

    Hey Simon,
That is very inspiring. It is similar to the design that I have been sketching since I was a kid, and now later in life would love to build something like this on some bush property with a lovely view. Thanks for taking the time to record all of this, I know that side of it takes a lot of time as well. Thanks and all the best as you now start to enjoy the fruits of your labour.

Haha. Ironically, Woolloomooloo is actually just east of central Sydney, and is a dense urban area which, since gentrification of the area decades ago, will cost you a fair chunk of cash to live in. Probably most well known for the Finger Wharf - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finger_Wharf - an enormous 100 year old timber wharf that was once one of the largest timber structures in the world, and is now converted to restaurants and luxury apartments. Russel Crowe had an apartment there, supposedly costing $14 million!

1st great job! Love seeing a man build his getaway to Enjoy the great outdoors, and getaway from the wife every now and again. And from the looks of her expressions she ain't as keen on the build as you my freind! But at least you have a place to go, when she puts you in the dog house.! Lol! Seriously though, nice cabin! ENJOY!

Thanks Scott. It is great having a shelter next to the Vegetable patch. It now also collects water for the pond and 2200 ltr water tank which I use for the garden. I love sitting on the deck in the evenings watching the Turtles in the pond and listening to some good old Aussie tunes.
