  • Watch as I shred the desert West of Tucson on my 2019 KTM 1290 Super Adventure R. This is a combination of dirt roads, SxS/ATV trails, and some single track that I make into a 30 mile loop with 57 minutes of video. There’s loose gravel hard-pack, sand, rocky uphill/downhill, g-outs, wash crossings, and high-speed sections that are gnarly enough to really test your chops on a big ADV bike!
In Part 2, I give some ADV riding tips for rocky downhills. Lots of rocks in AZ! There was a monsoon storm coming in and you get some great visuals as I head towards a long high-speed section. Towards the end, there's a another long high-speed sand section. I'm cooking along at about 50mph when a deer jumps out of the brush, crosses the path, and then runs along side me for a bit before I head out of the desert to complete the loop.
    Part 2 Highlights
0:00 Riding the rocks in the Dos Titos Mountains. After a quick NAV check with OnX Off-road, headed North towards Dos Titos. The trail goes up and down dozens of hills as it goes up into the mountain range and eventually follows a ridge before going back down. It gets very rocky!
6:56 I start talking about AZ conditions and riding a big ADV bike as I ride through a gnarly section.
9:52 I give some quick riding tips for rocky downhills and some added thoughts about expectations when you’re learning.
12:36 Start of a very long flat rocky section. I give some tips on riding this kind of stuff too.
15:54 Getting back onto BLM land with monsoon storms coming in! Back on desert ground level with more rocky trail and wash crossings. Lots of intersecting trails out here that makes navigation a little tricky. Awesome views of a monsoon storm cloud coming in off in the distance!
24:29 Headed towards El Cerrito de Represso and back out of the desert.
Faster and flowy from here to the end. The trail starts to open up but still rocky though and lots of g-outs from recent monsoon rains.
At 29:01 I’m going about 50mph when a deer jumps out and then runs along side of the trail.
At 29:30 you can really see how much the big KTM moves underneath me in a high-speed sand section…oh yeah!

@David Stasiak Thank you for the nice comments! The phone setup is a Heizkorper Modifications NAVPOD bracket (Martyred on ADVRider.com) which gives you a nice AMPS pattern mounting plate just above the instrument screen, then a RAM mount 1" ball and shorty arm, and finally a cheap vibration damping phone cradle off Amazon (Vibration Dampening Motorcycle Phone Mount Holder, Anti Vibration Motorcycle Cell Phone Cradle with B Size 1" Ball, Fits 1 Inch Socket Arm, Compatible with RAM Mount and More a.co/d/33BvR0). Works great!

Yes sir! Definitely not Hard Enduro level but enough big rocks to make it challenging on a big ADV big!

@Jeff Hammer This is Ironwood Forest West of the Desert Museum. There's fun riding out there if you're willing to explore!

@@BFAMOTO ok awesome! I thought it was Tucson. I live in Tanque Verde so I typically explore around Reddington Pass and down south east a bit more. I’ll have to check that area out though sometime, looks rad.

Thanks for sharing this but you will need to render this using a different format to lose the artifacts which are lowering the quality of your video.

Thank you for the feedback. I though mp4 was a good format for YT? This long video I rendered to 1080 to save upload length time but for shorter videos I render in 4k.

@@BFAMOTO rendering in 4k will give you a better quality also for 1080p. Increse the bit rate to 40 mbs if its not already :)
