If you want to avoid the gym shorts top-stitching on the skirt's waistband, you should do vertical topstitching along the side seams. That will keep the elastic from flipping without affecting the design.

Hi, I’ve had that issue with detergent making my clothes blue before and usually it’s because the detergent didn’t fully dissolve. I’ve been able to put my clothes back in the washer with warm water and the blue color will be gone. Hope that works for you!

I just got back from Italy, where I made my first ever pair of socks since it was small and fit in my purse for when we were in lines waiting for stuff, and I also brought a cardigan project. I leave again for Colorado and Wyoming tomorrow, so I'm starting another pair and did a Japanese short row heel during this video - definitely took some of the anxiety out since your voices are so calming

my twin sister is 23 min older then me. When we were younger, she use to brag she was older. Now that we are turning 60, I get to brag that I am younger then her. So things change lol.
I made the citrine socks also. The designer states in the pattern to use different size needles for the sole and the instep to deal with the change in gauge, and that worked well for me.

To me the sis in black is the eldest. I'm usually right about guessing. Happy birthday to you both! Ok that was at the very beginning of the episode and now I'm changing my tune, left side eldest, right side youngest. Both girls are delightful!
You can rinse the fabric where the blue detergent left residue. I've had detergents with color leave what looks like grease spots on fabric. High power rinsing may force the detergent out. Sometimes you can use a color-catching sheet in the wash to pull color out. You can tack the elastic in a few places in the waistband to keep it from rolling or twisting in the casing. Also, some fabrics have a little diagonal stretch, so places where the bodice is cut diagonally near the armhole will have a little bit of stretch. Nice job choosing fabrics and patterns for your dresses and knits!

I’m also a twin. My sister and I learned to knit when we were about 7 years old. We knit every day now after not much knitting while we raised our children. My youngest son will be 29 in August. I will say my favorite decade was my 30’s. We just turned 60 - and I’m a new Gramma, so I’m expecting this next decade to be great too. I have much more time to knit. I would guess Jessica is older. Love your channel! You remind me of one of my daughters who spent some time in KC one year doing the KC Ballet intensive. I wondered if y’all did ballet also. But the reason I’m texting is that you can shorten zippers. Just google for instructions bc you may be able to fix your cute bags if the zipper issue bothers you enough. Regardless, it’s good to know for future projects.
The trouble with the staggered vs lined up holes in the Margaux top is a matter of a slipover one stitch too soon or too late. Am working on an ankle sock with the same pattern and since the entire top of the sock is this pattern I have had to frog several times until I realized what I was doing wrong. It is very subtle in this top and really doesn’t matter like in the sock (simple Summer Socks by Liz Pankratz)
Currently working on a Friday baby sweater for my new nephew, and I think Jessica is older (because I think we share some similarities and I’m the oldest sibling) and Rachel is younger!
My guess is Jessica is the oldest (seems to have eldest child characteristics) 😆 Regarding your Margaux Top: I am in the middle of knitting the same top (totally inspired by you) and I too thought that my lace was 'funky' when I split for the front and back. Initially when I changed to working flat I just winged it as I thought I knew what I was doing but then I frogged my first repeat (after the split) and re-knit it following Gregoria's working flat instructions. This sorted the issue for me. There are a few little things she does which I hadn't done: 1. knit the first stitch 2. Not only is the WS knit in reverse i.e. purl instead of knit, but SHE REVERSES THE ORDER OF THE LACE i.e. the first row has the YO before the p2tog compared to the round where the first row is t2tog then YO. So the first row of lace becomes the second when worked flat. Hopefully this makes sense! It might be worth looking at if you're going to knit a few more for your gradient 😂

I just found your podcast and enjoyed it so much! I have twin nephews your same age and I wouldn’t even be able to guess which one of you is oldest my nephews I have been around their whole life and they still try to confuse me and my husband has given up even trying to tell them apart! I love that you both knit and sew I also like to do both and thought your projects were beautiful. I would like to pass on something that I use that might be worth checking into and keeping on hand it is a color catcher product that I use when in doubt or I am just not sure. The one I use is from Carbona and it is called color grabber and is dye grabbing sheet. I have been very glad I used it on several occasions! Have a happy birthday and a fun vacation!

Twill tape makes a good casing for elastic on a dress that has many elastic banks. Also, shirring does not give the flexibility to adjust the length of the elastic if you find that you want it tighter or looser.
I pick Jessica as the older one, partly b/c of job choice and partly b/c Rachel mentioned being sad about getting older and Jessica talked about embracing it. My youngest two are boy/girl twins and my younger twin loves being the 'baby' of the family, even though she tends to 'mother' her twin brother. They just turned 18.

Also, just a video/audio tip!! I was knitting on a light summer sweater/long sleeve top using petiteknits cumulus blouse o-neck pattern. The yarn is a light DK chainette 100% linen yarn from colourmart in a dusty sage colour. The gauge is very open. The swatch looks and feels great so I really hope this turns out nice!! 🤞🤞

my twin sister is 23 min older then me. When we were younger, she use to brag she was older. Now that we are turning 60, I get to brag that I am younger then her. So things change lol.
I made the citrine socks also. The designer states in the pattern to use different size needles for the sole and the instep to deal with the change in gauge, and that worked well for me.

To me the sis in black is the eldest. I'm usually right about guessing. Happy birthday to you both! Ok that was at the very beginning of the episode and now I'm changing my tune, left side eldest, right side youngest. Both girls are delightful!
You can rinse the fabric where the blue detergent left residue. I've had detergents with color leave what looks like grease spots on fabric. High power rinsing may force the detergent out. Sometimes you can use a color-catching sheet in the wash to pull color out. You can tack the elastic in a few places in the waistband to keep it from rolling or twisting in the casing. Also, some fabrics have a little diagonal stretch, so places where the bodice is cut diagonally near the armhole will have a little bit of stretch. Nice job choosing fabrics and patterns for your dresses and knits!

I’m also a twin. My sister and I learned to knit when we were about 7 years old. We knit every day now after not much knitting while we raised our children. My youngest son will be 29 in August. I will say my favorite decade was my 30’s. We just turned 60 - and I’m a new Gramma, so I’m expecting this next decade to be great too. I have much more time to knit. I would guess Jessica is older. She sort of pointed to herself when she said “older” , “younger”in this video. 😊

I think Jessica is likely the older twin because she seems more serious and seems to have a more serious job in analytics. Whereas Rachel talks more freely and has a job working with kids. But either way, you both are lovely people!

Love your channel! You remind me of one of my daughters who spent some time in KC one year doing the KC Ballet intensive. I wondered if y’all did ballet also. But the reason I’m texting is that you can shorten zippers. Just google for instructions bc you may be able to fix your cute bags if the zipper issue bothers you enough. Regardless, it’s good to know for future projects.
The trouble with the staggered vs lined up holes in the Margaux top is a matter of a slipover one stitch too soon or too late. Am working on an ankle sock with the same pattern and since the entire top of the sock is this pattern I have had to frog several times until I realized what I was doing wrong. It is very subtle in this top and really doesn’t matter like in the sock (simple Summer Socks by Liz Pankratz)

My guess is Jessica is the oldest (seems to have eldest child characteristics) 😆 Regarding your Margaux Top: I am in the middle of knitting the same top (totally inspired by you) and I too thought that my lace was 'funky' when I split for the front and back. Initially when I changed to working flat I just winged it as I thought I knew what I was doing but then I frogged my first repeat (after the split) and re-knit it following Gregoria's working flat instructions. This sorted the issue for me. There are a few little things she does which I hadn't done: 1. knit the first stitch 2. Not only is the WS knit in reverse i.e. purl instead of knit, but SHE REVERSES THE ORDER OF THE LACE i.e. the first row has the YO before the p2tog compared to the round where the first row is t2tog then YO. So the first row of lace becomes the second when worked flat. Hopefully this makes sense! It might be worth looking at if you're going to knit a few more for your gradient 😂

I just found your podcast and enjoyed it so much! I have twin nephews your same age and I wouldn’t even be able to guess which one of you is oldest my nephews I have been around their whole life and they still try to confuse me and my husband has given up even trying to tell them apart! I love that you both knit and sew I also like to do both and thought your projects were beautiful. I would like to pass on something that I use that might be worth checking into and keeping on hand it is a color catcher product that I use when in doubt or I am just not sure. The one I use is from Carbona and it is called color grabber and is dye grabbing sheet. I have been very glad I used it on several occasions! Have a happy birthday and a fun vacation!

Twill tape makes a good casing for elastic on a dress that has many elastic banks. Also, shirring does not give the flexibility to adjust the length of the elastic if you find that you want it tighter or looser.
I pick Jessica as the older one, partly b/c of job choice and partly b/c Rachel mentioned being sad about getting older and Jessica talked about embracing it. My youngest two are boy/girl twins and my younger twin loves being the 'baby' of the family, even though she tends to 'mother' her twin brother. They just turned 18.

Also, just a video/audio tip!! You can also clip your microphones "backwards" (so the clip is on the outside and the LED side on the inside) which helps it stay up better, and looks a little more discreet as a bonus (: I noticed Jessica's mic pointing outwards because of the rolled collar and turning it around might help 😊
