  • It can be easy to say to a new kitefoiler - "Get more weight forwards!" - but how do you actually do that? Many find they take their front hand off the bar to make this happen but it makes controlling the kite far hard, can put other parts of your body into the wrong position and result in other issues in the future.
So in this video I'm gonna show you 2 key techniques you can use that will have the same affect and allow you to get lots of weight forward. A vital skills you need for riding both off the foil and when up and foiling.

good advice! to all hydrofoil starters I suggest to take 1 or 2 hour lesson of wake foil towed by a dinghy or mastercraft, dividing the water start and first meters on the foil in 2 parts(before without thinking to the kite) will guarantee the progression, this hours are also very useful to find and set the best position of the mast on the board!

Your other video with the tip on the one hand in the harness/close to the body was a game changer for me when I was learning.

Hey for me best technique to control keeping weigt forward\backward is to stay in seating position keeping both legs bended

Thanks Thomas and you are right, weight low is super important - in many ways the most important way to get out of trouble but what we've found is that just telling people to bend their legs and get low doesn't always work! For some people the natural position when they bending their legs and getting low results in weight staying centered or even going more onto the back foot. So its always good for people to think about bending legs, getting low AND pushing knees, hips and shoulders forward towards the nose of the board. The combination of the two gets most people into a good stable position.

Hey Ben. Sorry I missed you comment - have you had a further success getting riding on your weaker stance?
