Good to see a down to earth Irish review series shot as well as any UK review site out there. Also good to see the review on prices and options and real life driving on Irish roads. Liked and subscribed.
Keith, thanks so much we really appreciate that! Let us know if there's any cars in particular you'd like us to reveiw and we can try get to it in the coming weeks/months. Thanks again. Dave
I have 362,000km on my Qashqai from new 2007 model top of the range and with motorway driving I can get over 1,000Km on a tank of diesel. Bar ordinary maintenance no problems.
The resale values are not great because the Qashqai is popular with the car hire companies in Ireland so there is always lots flooding the market when they are only a few months old. This helps them top the sales charts also with the bulk buying every few months. Having driven lots of them I really dislike the gear change, such long throws between shifts. The gear change feels like a knitting needle in a bag of marbles. Nissans from the the 1980s had nicer gearboxes with shorter throws. I think this is a Renault gearbox. The screen for the infotainment is crap as you said. Small size and the resolution is so bad for the back up camera. The Qashqai is not doing great either in reliability ratings in the UK- Whatcar surveys. Anyway, great review David.
Colin that's very interesting and actually very true. It's fascinating when you think how the rental companies can have such an influence on both the new car sales and over time the second hand market. Last week I tested the Tuscan which is the second highest selling car (but the highest selling car directly to Irish consumers). It's a very good competitor! Also, very good points with reliability, i've heard a few bad stories recently. Appreciate all the insight from your experience with the Qashqai. See you soon. Dave
I have a 1.3 dct 160bhp auto, plenty of power and smooth effortless drive my first SUV I do like the high driving position and easy excess, the iphone play is nice too

Sean Quinn Sean, that’s brilliant. Sounds like a very good reliable car! Happy driving and hopefully it keeps going as well as it has.
