They should Bring the gang back for a last reunion. A proper reunion episode, with them playing the characters many years later. Not the retrospective reunion where it was just the actors discussing the show. I want to see a middle aged Bud, trapped in "bundy hell", with a redhead of his own, while Al, as a grandpa, is set free and the curse is passed on to the next generation.
I tried to watch Modern Family and it just don't compare. Have to force myself to try and laugh. So I turn on the DVD player, put in whatever season of Married with Children I have and the laughs come natural.
To save you time: "The decision to cancel the series was based on those declining ratings relative to increased production costs. Sources say Ed O'Neill--who plays the show's surly father figure, Al Bundy--received more than $500,000 per episode this season, making him one of the highest-paid performers in television." - LA Times.
@My Name I didnt say they didnt deserve it, i was pointing out that other show that was sexist too was paid overal more so as reason to cancel him wasnt walid. If there was no demand they could discus reduction of price before canceling. Its normal to get paid the amount your show is worth. Friends cost milion each for episode in last season.
One of the best episodes was when Kelly told the producer of a sitcom about her family and they made a parody of the Bundys. Everyone was disgusted and ashamed except Al who was laughing like crazy... When I see that part and him laughing I laugh like crazy too 🤣
I didn’t even grow up in the 80’s I’m 23 and I’ve watched every episode twice once when I was younger and now, we definitely lived in a more expressive unapologetic world and crazy for us because we’ll only get to see it on TV
Isn’t it a mockery of earlier American tv-shows centred around family-life? I watched it on Norwegian television as a lad in the 90’s. It certainly is a lot better than a lot of Norwegian stuff. The Simpsons was also great in the 90’s, but newer fictional tv-series don’t have the same charm.
If you listen to the live audience in the early seasons it was your typical sitcom. But when the show got more outrageous the audience went wild. Even when all bundy entered a room. They were loving it. He became such a icon with it
One of my favourite episodes is when the Darcys and Bundys play Ethical Delema. Al spins and Peg says, "Al, you landed on kiss the neighbour." Al looks in the camera with a grunted look. Then, it shows on a plane and the instructor says, "do you want any last minute instructions?" Al appears and does his usual laugh, with his parachute not even on him, and jumps out of the plane. Hillarious.
Married with Children is still the number one comedy in Germany, Al is seen as kind of a hero over here. It is even more popular than Two and a Half Men and Big Bang Theory who come second and third.
I have just officially said that I officially forgive Germany. Don't do it again lol that's freakin awesome this show is badass me and my mom and dad and sister watched it together like a family
It's kind of interesting that one of the best recent sitcoms is "Modern Family" where Ed O'Neil basically reprises his role as Al, but he's ungodly wealthy. He even has the nagging wife and kids that don't really respect him.
It’s not that the shows now suck, sitcoms can’t stay in the same error for decades and decades . They had to appeal to each generation and the experiences they’re actually go through. The shows don’t appeal to you because you’re not a kid anymore
I loved it, my friends loved it, even my parent’s loved it. I miss the days when shows wee allowed to be funny at other peoples expense because they actually had a sense of humor
It's because they weren't edgy just for the sake of it. They were funny first, and if that happened to be edgy whatever. Nowadays they look for edgy and try to find ways to make it funny, other way around!
Omg I was obsessed with this show as a kid then my teenage years. Loved and still love it. Definitely ahead of its time and most likely a piece of TV history that cannot be repeated in today's society. It would be canceled ASAP!
Show of hands. Who was not ashamed to admit up front that we watched it for Kelly, first and foremost; then the rest of its awesomeness after the fact?
I’m not sure it’s regression, but I would certainly give a shout out to overzealous political correctness. Things have to change over time, but ‘cutting off your face to spite your nose’ has always been a bad starting point.

Al:- “Of everything I have that car is what I love the most.” Bud:- “Dad!… what about us?” Al:- “YOU NEED A QTIP?!” That still puts me fits of laughter 😂😂😂
i love the episode when Kelly is trying to get smart, but for ever piece of knowledge she learns, she has to lose a piece of knowledge that she already knows, so she starts forgetting functional basics.
The episode I remember the most was the grille, where Al insisted the left over ashes from the last meal cooked added to the flavor. Unfortunately someone dumped all the ashes out, leaving Kelly to find a replacement. Marcy had a death in her family recently and they were cremated, I guess you can see where this is going. But at their BBQ Marcy was talking about her late relative and mentions the ashes, and Kelly is what ashes? The reactions as Kelly secretly whispered the word where she got the ashes from, Bud dropped the burger and ran, Peggy spit it out and tried to cleanse her mouth. Marcy's husband just ate the burger with all the more vigor. Oh God the laughter.
One of the best shows ever made. Real shame the world has become so over sensitive and so easily offended. Don’t think you could of had a better cast. Thanks for sharing this one has bought back some fun memories.
Even at the time when the show was on, people were offended by it. At that time, people were only use to sitcoms about families that were “good and wholesome” so to speak.
oh this show was a mockery and outdated even back then, that's not even how Ed is in real life, he's much more closer to drama TV when he started playing as a cop. but when he started out he couldn't find alot of work, and if you want money bad enough you'll take anything.
I said the exact same thing to my wife the other day but not just Al there’s a lot of shows I can relate to now that I have my own “ wife and kids” one a teenager ……
Absolutely love this show. I was introduced to it by my mom and step dad watching it in the morning before school. I watched a couple episodes and got hooked. Started waking up at 5 just to be able to watch it. It was on at 5-7 on tbs.
Makes me laugh. I introduced this show, Always Sunny in Philadelphia & Fawlty Towers, all three not the most 'family oriented' of shows to my daughter. Now married & living away, we still laugh together at these shows. Yeah, when it comes to a sense of humor the apple didn't fall too far from this tree.
The cast was excellent! They could really make the scripts live. It was outrageous, love or hate it you had to watch every episode. My mother who was 70+ at the time it was aired here in Finland just loved it. There will never be a show like it!
IMO, The most memorable joke was from Jefferson... "Having sex with your pregnant wife is like putting gas in a car you have already wrecked" I still grin when I think of that line. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I was fortunate enough to see a taping of an episode where they went to Branson Missouri for a vacation. It took 2 hours to film a 30 min episode. That was my trip to Mecca! Absolutely hilarious. 😂 Beat show ever on TV & my favorite of all time. Thank God for re-runs!!
It would be great if they could re-boot the show with the same cast, and Kelly and Bud are now parents with their own wayward children. Al and Peg would be the grandparents who have to solve all of the issues.
I think the episode where they lived in a supermarket for a short while was my favorite. At the end, they were all genuinely happy, even if it was only for that episode.
My favorite episode was the Memorial Day episode in which Peggy accidentally spills the ashes out of Al's barbecue, and Kelly replaces them with the ashes of the Rhoad's deceased relative.
My niece had a stuffed animal of an owl, I told her the owls name was Bundy. So she called him Owl Bundy, her parents were not amused. 😂. Years later my niece out grew her stuffed animal and gave to me. I proudly showcase Owl Bundy to this day. 😍
Favorite episode was the one where they lost Al's car at the car wash. The family is ready to move on but Al keeps complaining and wants the car back because something of value is in the trunk. In the end they find the car and Al goes to the trunk to make sure his valuable item is still in the trunk. He pulls out a nudey magazine and you think that's it at first but he then pulls out a family photo of him and his wife and kids from inside the magazine.
I remember that!! Wasn't there a banner at the bottom of the screen that said "For your Emmy consideration?" Another tongue in cheek jab at itself for never winning an award? (which it certainly should have)
Correct me if I'm wrong but the reason they lost the car was that when it came out clean they didn't recognize it because it was so dirty they forgot what color it was?
I watched this as a kid throughout the 90s. I could go from power rangers to married with children. I found it funny without even understanding all the jokes. Now as an adult I find it even more hilarious now that I understand the jokes I couldn't as a kid😂
Bingo. You captured being a kid in the 90s. I'm Cuban. So my folks watched telenovelas constantly. The Power Rangers was our telenovela. Especially with the whole green ranger storyline. But Married with Children was in its own category. Taught me about having a twisted sense of humor.
Still better than the finale Ed O'Neill suggested. He recommended the series end with the Bundys winning the lottery than all being killed by a tornado. That would've ruined the show for me
@@jamesmichalek5406 And not to mention at the time at major fast food joints, they used to serve the XtraLarge fries and drink. I know I misspelled extra, but it's a marketing gimmick to misspell words on purpose.

Al : I'll tell ya what I'll do then. We'll stand you in front of the mirror. I'll begin strangling you. When you reach the shade of blue that is satisfactory to you, you yell, "Moo," and I'll stop. Enid : That's it! I'm taking my business elsewhere. Al : May I suggest Jenny Craig?
Still one of my top favorite sitcoms of all time and there's no way in hell a show like Married With Children would ever be put into syndication today. One of my all time favorite moments is when Al gets glasses and see's everything all "too" clearly and see's a photo of Peg and and says "What the hell is this?"
@@craigwall9536 Thats true, even though it wasnt the most apropriate response. They did it together, also I think context and delivery of the more objectionable material was the key for the show not to be canceled. You just couldn't take any of it seriously.
I completely agree. These weren’t people to admire, they were meant to be laughed at, mocked, and reviled. They were supposed to be everything that’s terrible about the American middle class, and it made a lot of people feel better that there were people worse off than them. How people missed that point, I have no idea.
@@cityhawk So true, but I think they were aspiring to be the middle class but never really making it, however, there was alot of stereotyping then. Some of the things poor Christina Applegate had to do, you definitely would get away with today.
@@wayneshilcock3027 I think so as well. It may be missed by some that they seem to be inspired by in some way by John Waters (a bit more sanitized for obvious reasons), in terms of aesthetic and tone. They were planning to bring on Devine before his death, Traci Lords appeared in two episodes, and Mink Stole appeared in the final season of the series. So there were fans of Waters on the show. Again, it wouldn’t surprise me if they took some inspiration from him.

Amen
Isn’t it a mockery of earlier American tv-shows centred around family-life?
I watched it on Norwegian television as a lad in the 90’s. It certainly is a lot better than a lot of Norwegian stuff.
The Simpsons was also great in the 90’s, but newer fictional tv-series don’t have the same charm.
The vacation to Dumpwater Florida was probably really got me watching the show. This show was Great.
Or Sanford and son or All in the family. Everything now is too PC.

Absolutely. Let’s not forget you can’t say that bullocks. Now days you say one bad thing they’re all over you like flies on shit.

Al spins and Peg says, "Al, you landed on kiss the neighbour."
Al looks in the camera with a grunted look.
Then, it shows on a plane and the instructor says, "do you want any last minute instructions?"
Al appears and does his usual laugh, with his parachute not even on him, and jumps out of the plane.
Hillarious.

Married with Children is still the number one comedy in Germany, Al is seen as kind of a hero over here.

Love the way Al showed Kelly's boyfriends out
Well, I remember a few episodes where Kelly's boyfriend was an older man driving a Station Wagon. That caused a bit of eye rolling on Al's part.
Al:- “Of everything I have that car is what I love the most.”
Bud:- “Dad!… what about us?”
Al:- “YOU NEED A QTIP?!”

I always reference that episode lol
Why didn't u dial 911? I couldn't remember the number
That happens to most women at the age of 15.
I always pronounce Chicago as "Chick- ago" because of Kelly. Lol good times

Favorite episode was the one where they lost Al's car at the car wash. The family is ready to move on but Al keeps complaining and wants the car back because something of value is in the trunk.
