    Another great video, Danny. Your mindset on mixing samples and live instruments is fantastic! I highly encourage anyone sampling to do the same; it’s very rewarding!
    How do I become involved in your library as a composer?

    • @88XLmusic
      @88XLmusic  4 місяці тому +1

      send an email to info@thesampleguru.com with a couple of samples of your work. Also check out the site to hear the vibe of the library when you get a chance.

    Thank you for the video, Danny. Newbie question: With respects to the sample, how did you remove, or minimize, the bass in the sample? I amnot referring to the one that you filtered down to where you only hear the low frequencies. I am referring to the other one. Thank you.

      @88XLmusic  4 місяці тому +1

      there's. a couple of ways to go about that. In this video specifically, I left it since I kept the same bass. You can remove the bass from the one that is not filtered by applying a "high pass filter" on it. Basically the opposite of what we did with the bass.
      This way you can let the high frequencies pass, and the lower frequencies would be removed.
      Let me know if that helps!

    Great work 🗣️but what do you use to hear the mpc out loud

    • @88XLmusic
      @88XLmusic  4 місяці тому +1

      Thank you! What do you mean hear the MPC out loud?
      For these I just hook them output of the MPC to my interface, and record the audio in Ableton.
      When I don’t record videos, I just go out from the MPC to the speakers.
      Does that answer your question?

      @@88XLmusic so you use you’re speakers to hear the XL out loud when not recording, what speakers are they and do you recommend them and if so what cables do you use to connect the speakers to the XL and thank you.

      The speakers I use in this setup are the Adam Audio T7V bit.ly/adamsaudiospeakers. I really like them. I also have these that I can recommend as well, the KRK's bit.ly/krksrokit7speakers.
      To connect the MPC speakers, I just use 1/4 inch cables. For the Adam speakers, they have an XLR input, so I have to use these cables here bit.ly/quartertoXLRcable. The 1/4 inch goes into the MPC and the XLR goes to the speaker.
      For the KRK's, they take 1/4 inch, so i just use a balance cable myself. bit.ly/balancedspeakercable

      @@88XLmusic thank you for the replies, can you also tell me what cables you use to connect the 2000xl to you’re turntable

    • @88XLmusic
      @88XLmusic  4 місяці тому +1

      sorry i didn't get back to this earlier. I use regular 1/4" cables to connect the MPC to my turntable because of the routing

    So if you don't remove the bass from the actual sample,how do you stop the filtered bass and sample from clashing with each other? Are you you just balancing the volume,or are you adding another technique that you never mentioned?

    • @88XLmusic
      @88XLmusic  4 місяці тому

      Yeah it’s a balance. In this case, because I am using the same exact sample and same part, it is 1 for 1. So the notes are the same. I wanted that rugged feel on this record, so I left it as is.
      If the notes were different, you would definitely need to do a high pass filter on the original sample. And you might get some clashing.
      But the best way to avoid this is to do all of your chops or loops first for the melody. Then just take those same chops, duplicate them, and the bass should fit.

      this actually gave me an idea for a video on how to sample bass lines that aren't the same. Stay tuned!
