I love the ensoniq EPS because you can trim samples in real time while sequencer is playing so I can get the bounce I want. Dead space is a cheat code for real
It doesn't matter if i program or play my drums, they still sound extremely robotic compared to a lifted drum break from a record. Just the sound of the analogue equipement and a real drummer cannot be matched.
That’s interesting. Maybe what you are referring to is that it has to do with sound selection. That’s why using Live Loops like the one I mentioned is a great gem, because you get the live feel of the recording. A live drummer will always be a great solution to getting groove, but even J Dilla used his own patterns to come up with amazing groove and swing, so it’s definitely possible
@@88XLmusic I understand what you mean and have plenty of live played drum loops so the sounds quality isn't a problem in that department. I'm more referring to the swing and overall feeling of a loop left whole as compared to a programmed/played loop. Alot of the best Hip Hop beats have straight loops like I'm referring to and sound amazing as opposed to someone who has chopped and played their own,if you know what I mean? I just love the authentic sound.
It depends, tbh sometimes I do quantize my stuff and slightly nudge things out of time. Sometimes I only nudge hi hats or play those differently. It really depends on the style. Overall if I know I don't want an artist on the beat, yeah i play out of pocket a lot more.

I just love the authentic sound.
yeah definitely, there's all sorts of ways to make flips. At the end of the day its what resonates with people that matters
Adjusting attack and decay in samples is cheating code too
So you are purposely making the beats to play out of the pocket?

Gotcha. Much thanks!
