Fav. Moment in first christopher reeves superman 🦸♂️ at the end when he flies into space, looks left, looks right and smiles at the camera. "I got this" moment. Perfect
The confused Superman in sweatpants facing the Justice league with Wonder Woman was epic. Especially the scene when he side-eyes the Flash trying to run around him, done all in slow-mo. Epic stuff.
My favorite Supes moment is him against Darkseid, explaining how he always holds back, like the world is made of cardboard ... Animated Supes, sure. But still EPIC
Yeah! That deserves a mention. There's one where he knocked out Darkseid in the 1st episode of the JLA season 2 IIRC. That's why it's so sad Zack Synders universe has come to a halt cos it'd be badass to see Superman take on Darkseid.
@@peluminova2515 There's no reason to have DC heroes 'Roided out. DC is the label that BENEFITS from showcasing the heroes as standing apart from "mere mortals". Totally agree I personally think superman returns is one of the best superman movies to date and Brandon Roth plays cracking part, massively disappointed they didn’t cast him again.
Superman returns is highly underrated. Routh was great and the CGI was fantastic. My favourite scene is when he’s been saved by lois and he’s weak. Than he fly’s through the clouds to absorb the sun. His eyes closed and with the beautiful score is such a great scene.
There’s so many in that movie I don’t understand it was hated to me it was really superman like him being loved not to dark but just dark enough nd the hope throughout the movie was just golden. Favorite parts when he saves the plane nd when he’s flying saving metropolis nd his son pushing the piano
Highly underrated? Its literally one of the worst superhero movies of all time. The cgi alone doesnt make a film good. Even mcu films are better and thats a very low bar
The Superman, bullets bouncing off chest has been done many times, but none so well as the one in superman returns. I love the bullet in the eye at the end, a very original touch.
The fact that the only Superman I will ever feel inherently SAFE around is Brandon Routh, speaks to the integrity of the character himself inasmuch as the way he's portrayed.
He had the potential to be a Great Superman, but unfortunately, the script he was given to work with could have been better written and he was held down by trying to imitate Christopher Reeves Superman performance. It was certainly a good imitation, but I feel if Routh had been given more freedom in his performance and given a script that wasn't trying to be a sequel to Superman II but instead its own thing, I think his Superman film would have been a big hit.
We have to realize it’s a generation thing. Reeves was our Superman, but Henry is it for this generation. I hope he’ll get to be Superman one more time. Warner Bros is trash!!
I think my favorite was 2013's Man Of Steel with Henry Cavill. The story brought Superman "down to earth" so to speak. Showing his struggle as a child to understand exactly who he was was touching , and brilliant. Though I was never really particularly fond of Kevin Costner, I believe his portrayal of Johnathan Kent , was just spot on magnificent. His depth , and wisdom as the Father of a living miracle from space, was truly inspired. My Favorite by far.
@@DVankeuren then you're just living in a bubble. The beauty of comic-book characters is that they can be portrayed in multiple ways from different perspectives to represent different ideologies, themes and psychologies. Those people are narrow-minded who are stuck to just one perspective of a thing.
I personally think his speech in the animated justice league unlimited final fight with darkseid is the best. "That man won't quit as long as he can still draw a breath. None of my teammates will. Me? I've got a different problem. I feel like I live in a world made of cardboard, always taking constant care not to break something, to break someone. Never allowing myself to lose control even for a moment, or someone could die. But you can take it, can't you, big man? What we have here is a rare opportunity for me to cut loose and show you just how powerful I really am." This was superman being a bad ass.
I looked it up because of your comment but I couldn't help but laugh at the fact he says people could die if he doesn't hold back then he punches Darkseid through many buildings, likely killing many
The helicopter save is hands down the BEST hero intro Nothing has come close in 44 years And if you say it has, you haven't been around long enough to have seen the original 😁
Superman: "Don't worry ma'am, I've got you" Lois: "But who's got you?" That moment was just amazing, well aside from the whole flying with Lois through the night later, but what a GREAT way to introduce the world to what was about to come!
Well, I could argue that the opening Scene in Superman Returns was the best I've seen. He hears about trouble with the space shuttle flight, instantly flies up there, uses his eye lasers to detach the space shuttle from the jet, saves the out of control air force jet and all its passengers, puts it down in baseball stadium to cheering crowds, rips off the door, sees Lois and makes that funny quip about how flying is still the safest way to travel. Simply awesome opening with state of the art special effects after a 20 year absence
That first appearance of Superman in 1978 cause my eye balls to drop into my lap! That visual moment isn’t CGI and yet for me it still the best introduction of a superhero. There have been plenty of scenes in comic book movies over the decades of time but that magic of believing a man could actually fly so good makes that scene priceless!
@@ratfinkie62 yes! But I’m talking about with all the hype about believing a man could fly! It was done beautifully! I grew up watching George Reeves with the same background as he leaps out on to a mattress and Kirk’s was done with animation.
Spot on with the number one. Can’t really put into words quite how the audience reacted to that first scene of Superman catching Lois and then the helicopter. It was magical. Cheering, wild applause, laughter..just a fantastic moment in cinematic history. Another great, great sequence is when Luthor communicates with Superman through the ear piercing, high frequency soundwave. The sequence where Reeve jumps out of the window, changes into Superman and then does that glorious sweeping arc is, in my opinion, the single best flying special effect in any Superman movie, of any era. There’s just something really special about that shot that elevates it above all the later cgi effects. Add in Gene Hackmans brilliantly dry voice over and that’s another classic scene, in a movie that’s packed full of them.
I can only imagine. I wish I could have seen that movie when it first came out as a kid. There was nothing like it before in Cinema up to that point. The first real Super Hero Movie. I know the posters at the time stated, "You'll Believe a Man Can Fly" and they sure did make people believe! Another scene that I love is when Superman catches the thief scaling the building at night.
My all time fav is Superman meeting his father and flying in MoS. Beautiful dialog over beautiful scenes amongst beautiful scenery with cool vfx and flying.
Christopher Reeve's scream still haunts my dreams. Luther is DAMN lucky that Superman chose to turn back time instead of hunting down the man who killed his love.
yeah I think we had a taste of Dark Superman when the Justice League first woke him up in that movie and he didn't know who he was yet...I swear the theater dropped to absolute zero when he delivered his "Do you bleed?" line to Batman
@@davari9032 Not even close. Cavill's Superman was anguished at having to make a hard choice to save others and worn out from his battle. Reeve's was a terrifying howl of sheer rage and anguish that was one second away from tearing the entire world apart just to kill Luthor.
That scene was so dumb. First, sure, the scream of anguish is great, but it's completely undone by Superman, well, undoing it. Plus, flying around the Earth backwards really fast reverses time?! Of all the shark-jumping bullshit Hollywood has ever unleashed, that was probably the smelliest.
@@Tantalus010 Yup lol. From that point on, there was no problem he could not over come, no matter how large or how small. That's called "writing yourself into a corner". Every moment before and after that was meaningless because he could just go back in time and fix it right? 😂
I was only 8 years old when Superman hit the screen in 1978, so obviously Chris would be my favorite. But there's a lot to appreciate from Routh and Cavill. All three were great in their roll and I appreciate the behind scenes of putting together these films. It's a lot of work and I commend their dedication and effort.
The scene when Superman saves Lois Lane from falling to her death from on top of the Daily Planet is how you introduce a goddamn super hero to an audience. Epic scene.
"You've got me....who's got you???" Superman chuckles and carries Lois and the helicopter safely to the rooftop and then reminds her that flying is still the safest way to travel. That line was so great that it was reused in Superman Returns when he put the plane down in the ballpark.
@@LAALLARD Oh yeah, I remember that now that you mention it. For me Superman Returns spends way too much time on the relationship between Superman & Lois that the rest of the movie suffers. Though I do like the original Jimmy Olson playing a bartender in the movie.
What I didn’t like about the helicopter scene, is that Clark leaves the building and realize there’s a commotion, crosses the street and changes to Superman. Then flies off. The problem is that they make it look like he’s miles away and the Daily Planet has hundreds of floor, or Superman was flying extremely slow. Also, would the spot where Superman is holding the helicopter be strong enough to support the weight of the helicopter? It’s like the plane crashing scene where Superman stops the plane from crashing in the baseball field. Would he really have been able to stop the plane or would the whole thing just disintegrate around him?

I remember watching the first superman film with my dad. Coming out of the cinema thinking I could fly ….. being a kid was the best time ever. Now I’m 50 and still that kid in me never leaves me !!! Happy days … can’t wait for a new superman film 👍🏽😀
Totally agree. i am 54, and have the same memory. Very similar to coming out of watching Rocky 2. I was not an overly athletic kid, but no joke, i was so stoked, I ran full speed, at a sprint all the way home. I had no idea I was capable of doing something like that. I remember the feeling of being impressed with myself, being able to run like that. it wasn't anything impressive, just not something i thought myself capable of. Something primal about what Superman, and Rocky tapped into for young minds.
The death scene in Batman v Superman. To start with the "You are my world" to Lois tears at your heart. Slamming the spear into Doomsday, getting impaled himself then forcing it further into himself to put the spear all the way through Doomsday. That's sacrifice, that's a hero.
One scene that stuck out for me was in Returns. Supes was heading out to sea to find Lois but realized there was a huge fissure heading towards the city. For a moment you saw him hesitate… save her now or head back and save millions in Metropolis leaving her at risk. You saw the love he had for her but also the responsibility of being Superman.
My all time favorite Superman scene is the last scene of Superman The Motion Picture. When he’s flying in space and is looking out and all of a sudden he smiles at the camera and flies off. They tried to recreate it in Superman Returns but Christopher Reeve kills it!!!
They did a little bit of it again with Brandon Routh, in The Arrowverse Crisis on Infinite Earths cross-over event. Knowing that the Superman portrayed there is meant to be the older Superman of Christopher Reeve's portrayal, adds a nice touch to it.
The 1st time Christopher Reeves caught the helicopter in the Superman 1 movie, was a childhood memory I still cherish. Everyone in the cinema jumped out of their seats crying & screaming with joy, & there may have even been popcorn etc being thrown around too. Ok maybe I'm over exaggerating, but I remember it was an incredible moment I'll never forget.
You should have included the scene from Superman Returns where Lois, Richard and Jason were in the ship sinking and then you see the boots hit the window and the iconic music hits and Superman looks to the sky and lifts them out of the water, gives me goosebumps everytime. Man I wish they would have done a Superman Returns 2. Brandon was great.
@@alexiusrevoxy17 for a movie with superman, I really don't care about the writing or the story. I care about the flying scenes and the special effects.
Especially impressive given that the island was built out of grown kryptonite (that was still growing!) and he was already gravely wounded by a kryptonite shank in his back.
My absolute favorite is number 2!! That scream and anger that superman normally holds back, was unleashed and you see just how powerful he really can be.
Lord, that was a fantastic compilation. Superman was always my favorite hero of them all. I was in the theater watching Avengers Infinity War, and the scene in Wakanda where the heroes are being overwhelmed by the Star Striders, I yelled out, "THEY NEED SUPERMAN!!" I got several laughs, but the truth is in my heart, I wanted to see Superman save the day. In the Schnyder cut of the Justice League, when Steppenwolf's axe hits Superman instead of Cyborg and he says "Not impressed" I screamed "YESSSSSSS!!" so loud I scared my room mate.
Superman reversing time was the coolest thing i ever saw as a kid and stayed with me. The bullet off the eye in Superman Returns was a nice touch never touched on before.
I woul never place it along, Superman The Movie, Winter Soldier, Dark Knight, Blade I and II, X-Men, X-Men United...to name a few. Man of Steel has nothing substantial to be among all time best. Please, stop with that non sense.
@@johnbills3056 piss off clown. The fuckin clown movies you have mentioned don't get mentioned. I don't recall X-Men being a good movie neither was blade 1 or 2. Except for Dark Knight which I think has a special place for it.
I am a Superman fan and i would not go so far as putting Man Of Steel as one of the best comic book movie. The movie gets Superman's power levels right but gets Clark Kent wrong, Superman is beloved not because of his powers, it's because of Clark Kent. He is not an alien trying to find his way in a new environment, that's Supergirl. Superman is a guy who despite all the powers he has, he still chooses to do the right thing. He inspires and he gives hope. Like Dean Cain Superman once said "Superman is what i can do, Clark is who i am".
@@sehun2193 spot on. The current guy makes for a great Superman but a horrible Clark. He doesn’t play the two any differently from each other. Clark needs to be a clumsy nerd in order for everyone to not see who he is and Chris Reeve did it best.
Why do people hate on the save Martha scene : when Lois told Bruce that because it's his mother's name, he didn't stop because it's the same name as his mother, it because he realizes that superman is human that he is OK to die but he wants him to save Martha , and that his mother will die just like Bruce's mother did, the why did you say that name part was because Bruce thought Clark was talking about Martha Wayne. I don't think it's cheesy I think it's emotional
I think people just got overwhelmed because they had like 2 motivations for fighting. But i try to explain the martha scene to people. It makes sense when you actually look into it
Man of steel is a masterpiece so to is all of Zack Snyder universe Bryan’s airplane sense is one of the best moments in all of the live action superman film’s
Dude, I thought you were gonna show the part where Christopher Reeves was chasing down the missiles. Christopher Reeves first appearance as Superman was dope, his fit of rage turning back time when Lois Lane died was dope, him taking those bullets at point blank range was dope. You could've added the part where he had to sit back and watch his father dad die during that tornado, that was a very sad scene. Still, this was a dope video. You made me want to watch all these movies over again. 👍
My favorite scene was when Superman was screaming for vengeance after Lois Lane died, the scream which could have led Superman to be a villain with heart ache. I can imagine during that scream of anger turns Superman's blue and red suit transitioning to black while flying to go after Lex Luther to annihilate him which could have been cool.
I can’t believe I never watched most of the og super hero movies , that’s gonna be on my list now the super man saga. Zach Snyder went overboard with justice league , it’s amazing .
Not sure who here is old enough to remember when George Reeves played Superman. Superman standing in front of the bad guys as they unloaded their submachine guns on him as he had his fists on his hips and thrusting his chest out to show everyone how manly he was just before he ducked out of the way as someone threw a .38 at him was always the iconic Superman for me. (And, yes, totally hilarious.)
It is great to see that the fortress of solitude made it to Lois and Clark and Smallville series. They used the same set (with a few modifications) all along the series.
I agree with almost all the moments mentioned. However, I myself would have ranked a sequence not mentioned into the top 10: In “Superman Returns” when he saves Metropolis near the end. We see him use almost all his powers in one sequence alone. Faster than a speeding bullet? He flies super fast from the ocean into the city to save civilians when he first uses his x-ray vision to see the ground under the ocean opening towards the city. With that speed, he flies in to first stop the Daily Planet’s humongous globe statue from crumbling many people on the street. Then as he flies through the city, Superman notices glass falling so he flies upside down and uses his heat vision to break down the big pieces of glass into smaller pieces so that the people won’t get cut. Superman then notices fire coming from under the pipelines in the city, heading towards a gas plant. Superman flies underground, faster than the fire, stops in front of the gas company and blows cold air towards the fire to put it out. C’mon man, how was this sequence not in the top 10?
Notice how in the beginning the general was the only one who didn’t back away when Superman approached him. Foreshadowing that he’s the Martian man hunter cuz he’s the only one not scared
You know since it was revealed Stanwick was Martian Manhunter in the Snyder-Cut, I always wondered if Superman knew who he was but respected his right to anonymity because he was also an Alien among humans
While the Martha scene showed his selflessness, I think the death of Superman in BVS showed his determination and courage more. It definitely belongs on this list.
Yes, right. Or say, Save Martha scene and his death, both showed Superman's selflessness to us and the world, his world. Especially to Batman because he was the only who witnessed Save Martha scene too. That's why he changed and stopped killing and redeemed his faith in mankind after Superman's death. Superman's death made Superman the greatest symbol of hope for the world, even though he was no longer there among the people of the world.
Kryptonite is not Superman's greatest weakness. It is his terror of losing his loved ones. He's invincible but they're so fragile. So much of his character rests on that.
Man of steel is my favorite Superhero movie. I think Henry’s portrayal was well written because it shows Superman’s more human side and doesn’t crack jokes every 3 seconds!
Actually one of my all time favorite Superman scenes in any of the movies is the deleted "Return To Krypton" scene in Superman Returns, where he flies a crystal ship all the way there just to almost die as he finds a blown out shell of a planet with a vast amount of Kryptonite everywhere in the debris.
The Christopher Reeves Superman movie when he resets the San Andreas fault, the tectonic boundary between the Pacific Plate and the North American Plate, during the earthquake. Classic scene.

Perfect
The confused Superman in sweatpants facing the Justice league with Wonder Woman was epic. Especially the scene when he side-eyes the Flash trying to run around him, done all in slow-mo. Epic stuff.
Yeah, that scream Christopher Reeves did was truly memorable. You can see the pure emotion, such a good actor.

There's no reason to have DC heroes 'Roided out.
DC is the label that BENEFITS from showcasing the heroes as standing apart from "mere mortals".
Look at the animated Batman and Superman, as well as the JLA.
NONE of them were ever shown roided out or unapproachable ... but the challenges they faced would have destroyed mortal humans by flexing a pinky finger.
But you can take it big man can’t you? This is one of those rare moments…
"You've got me! Who's got you?" I've always loved that line.
RIP Margot Kidder...her contribution to the franchise is underrated
Her exasperated yet incredulous look when she replied to what Superman said just nailed the scene.
AGREED! that first appearance of him in the 70s. was AMAZING! i remember seeing it when i was a kid and it was AMAZING!
Christopher Reeve will always be the quintessential Superman but I have to say Superman Returns with Brandon Routh was hugely underrated
Henry Cavill, all the way. But Dean Cain actually wasn't that bad, during the TV show run, in the 90's.
I agree Christopher Reeve is the one and only Superman.
HENRY CAVIL AFTER REEVES....Ruth was a mess 😂
Totally agree I personally think superman returns is one of the best superman movies to date and Brandon Roth plays cracking part, massively disappointed they didn’t cast him again.
Routh was an excellent Superman.
I place him at #2 behind Reeve..
The black suit, the speech, the flight...i am so glad we got the Snyder cut!
Superman returns is highly underrated. Routh was great and the CGI was fantastic. My favourite scene is when he’s been saved by lois and he’s weak. Than he fly’s through the clouds to absorb the sun. His eyes closed and with the beautiful score is such a great scene.
Yes yes... all day long yes. The lifting of the new island too
There’s so many in that movie I don’t understand it was hated to me it was really superman like him being loved not to dark but just dark enough nd the hope throughout the movie was just golden. Favorite parts when he saves the plane nd when he’s flying saving metropolis nd his son pushing the piano
Was a boring story tho
Highly underrated? Its literally one of the worst superhero movies of all time. The cgi alone doesnt make a film good. Even mcu films are better and thats a very low bar
@@vegeta9727that’s your opinion. Unfortunately, it’s an incorrect one.
The Superman, bullets bouncing off chest has been done many times, but none so well as the one in superman returns. I love the bullet in the eye at the end, a very original touch.
My favorite badass scene is when he tricked Zod and crushes his hand... get chills evertime I see it lol
The fact that the only Superman I will ever feel inherently SAFE around is Brandon Routh, speaks to the integrity of the character himself inasmuch as the way he's portrayed.
Good call cause reeves had some crazy in him too
Brandon Routh's movies are kinda slept on. Man he looked so much like Reeves and his movies had that classic look and vibe.
He had the potential to be a Great Superman, but unfortunately, the script he was given to work with could have been better written and he was held down by trying to imitate Christopher Reeves Superman performance. It was certainly a good imitation, but I feel if Routh had been given more freedom in his performance and given a script that wasn't trying to be a sequel to Superman II but instead its own thing, I think his Superman film would have been a big hit.
as a kid i thought brandon routh is christopher reeves son

@@lifeisberserk9566 well that was for the pay by then. However, yes, he was the classic.
My Favorite by far.
no, they did Supes wrong with that movie. Superman is not supposed to be down to earth, nor is he supposed to be dark.

Powerful scene.
The helicopter save is hands down the BEST hero intro
Nothing has come close in 44 years
And if you say it has, you haven't been around long enough to have seen the original 😁
Superman: "Don't worry ma'am, I've got you"
Lois: "But who's got you?"
That moment was just amazing, well aside from the whole flying with Lois through the night later, but what a GREAT way to introduce the world to what was about to come!
Truth right here. Nothing beats him catching the helicopter.
#2 ALWAYS GAVE ME GOOSEBUMPS, EVEN AS A KID. Long live Reeves!
The first Superman was Kirk Allen in the’40’s.
Meh.
I vote for "Not impressed" - black suit Superman versus Steffenwolf from Zack Snyder's Justice League.

Cavil's scream>>>
Epic scene.
I agree. Although I loved MOS, it irritates me that there was no big epic reveal like the helicopter scene.
"You've got me....who's got you???"
Superman chuckles and carries Lois and the helicopter safely to the rooftop and then reminds her that flying is still the safest way to travel.

That Scream with Christopher Reeves always gets me I feel it in my soul. He made me believe it!
One scene that stuck out for me was in Returns. Supes was heading out to sea to find Lois but realized there was a huge fissure heading towards the city.
Routh got the role in Superman returns partially because he looked a lot like Reeve.
My absolute favorite is number 2!! That scream and anger that superman normally holds back, was unleashed and you see just how powerful he really can be.
Then, decades later, the government being concerned about Superman makes complete sense.
How terrifying any being can be is directly proportional to the power possessed by that being when he is angry.

Superman standing in front of the bad guys as they unloaded their submachine guns on him as he had his fists on his hips and thrusting his chest out to show everyone how manly he was just before he ducked out of the way as someone threw a .38 at him was always the iconic Superman for me.
Good call 😃
You know since it was revealed Stanwick was Martian Manhunter in the Snyder-Cut, I always wondered if Superman knew who he was but respected his right to anonymity because he was also an Alien among humans
