Bible project is wonderful though I happen to see (just) two serious mistakes. (1) It omits that Jesus was actually punished for our sin in that he drank the cup of God’s wrath for us. (2) Tim Mackie also very surprisingly, actually said, very clearly that hell was “created by men” even though Scripture literally taught that it was prepared (initially) for fallen angels. Who else can prepare anything for the fallen angels other than God? Other than those two, I found the BP very helpful & enjoyable for a coherent view of the Big Story. Love it!
This is an excellent channel that I stumbled upon, I immediately subscribed. Also he mentioned The bible project and I just have to say, it has really helped me in seeing the larger story so I'm glad he recommend it.
My former pastor said it is okay to ask "What does this mean?" when reading the Bible, but it is best to ask "What should I being doing with this?" or "How should I be letting this change me?" I suppose that is a slightly different way of expressing the professor's first point. Good video, I always see great things coming from Southern Seminary.
Yes, The Bible Project- is an amazing channel for those wanting “easy to follow” videos on all books of the Bible. They’re desirable to watch and you grasp a deeper understanding of Christian theology.
I read a chapter of the Bible every day and read it as God's message/ guidance to me for the day. It has been quite effective in directing me to apply what I learned for the day and most of the time I even get the exact advice I needed for a particular circumstance which is awesome and further proves to me that God's Word is alive and exerts power and He really talks to us through it. However, these days, I do find it quite heavy and even berating at times when I read back-to-back scriptures where God condemns the Israelites (just finished the book of Isaiah today) as I tend to apply His words to them to myself. Is this a healthy way of reading the Bible?
I just now read this -- I think it keeps us honest. We're not to go on living using our freedom in Christ as excuse to sin - we're supposed to recognize God hates sin (read in Numbers where a guy is stoned for picking up sticks on the Sabbath!) and therefore we should learn to hate it in ourselves. And in one sense, like the man in the synagogue that beat upon his chest and cried to God "have mercy on me, a sinner", we are supposed to bemoan our sin like the Puritans (and any good Christian) would do and like Paul lamented over. But at the same time, this recognition of how deadly and horrible sin really is should ALSO cause us to exalt God in His goodness for saving us, *even yet* while we were sinners! So while we grow to hate sin more, we grow to also praise and thank God more that He has saved us by His grace. I love how John MacArthur put it once (paraphrasing) - "People think Christians should grow more joyous as they age. In some sense that's true, but you also come to a clearer understanding of sin. The older I get, the worse I feel." God bless!

Doctrine and covenants ( 1978 edition, not the Mormons) section 22, verse 23 b, “ and there is no end to my works, neither to my words; for this is my work and my glory, to bring to pass the immortality, and eternal life of man. This is what the Lord spoke to Moses, at a time when Moses was caught up into an exceedingly high mountain, and He saw God face to face, and he talked with him, and the Glory of God was upon Moses; therefore Moses could endure his presence. This is not in any Bible I’ve read, but it is in the scriptures, which to me and millions of others, the scriptures contain three books, the Bible, the Book of Mormon ( not the Utah Mormons, or present day Mormon church) and the Doctrine and Covenants, ( a book of modern day revelations, since the restoration of His church and the restoration of His word in 1830.
These are definitely important. I thank you sir for your imparting of wisdom. I have found in my experience that these are true of us more often than they should be. I would add one more, I believe important, rule to scriptural study. That is the two witness rule. Whenever considering the practical application of lesson learned in the scriptures please remember that we should never act without a second witness. Also those lessons we have already applied should always be tested for two scriptural witnesses.
Well done thank you, saw myself in that I can become too overbearing when discussing the Bible. Especially when I am debating with someone who is opposing my discussion. Never thought I was acting like a Pharisee, but felt convicted here...(forgiven) but still guilty. Clarity heard, now subscribed thanks again.
I was eating in public once with two people that got in a VEHEMENT discussion about predestination and it got SUPER heated and one threatened to get up and walk out. I just sat there and didn't say anything but was honestly madder than both of them because of how ridiculous it all was. So when we left one of them called me and said "Can you believe him?!" and even though I agreed with the one calling me I said "you're both fools" and they said "WHAT?!" and I said "Go read what Paul told Titus. He said avoid foolish questions and geneaologies and strivings and contentions about the law which are unprofitable and vain". I said that they both made fools of themselves and the Scripture doesn't say he who winneth arguments is wise but he who winneth SOULS. I'm a baptist preacher and very passionate bible lover but as I've aged I've tried to make a concerted effort to never "argue" with people because it's never to any profit as Paul said. God bless you for your honesty and I hope this story from my own experience can help you and I both to keep our eyes on the true prize. If you know you're saying what's right and people reject that then just shake the dust off against them and keep going but never do it for your own glory and God will bless you.
Peter said this about paul; As in all his Epistles, speaking in them some things hard to understand, which the unlearned and unstable rest, as they do also in other scriptures (twisting scriptures to suit their doctrine ) unto their own Destruction. 2Peter 3;16

The main reason I started reading the bible at age fifteen was I wanted to follow Jesus but mainly it was to see myself in these scriptures and be able to change and adapt in order to be a better person and to try to understand things. I don’t understand why people pick it up and read it like it’s some kind of Dan Brown novel.
I see my days filled with many blessings now where I could not see that years ago. I thank God everyday for the blessings he showers me with even though very much of my life to the outside would look like a struggle there is no struggle for me with God. Without God my life would be worth nothing.
It is refreshing to hear someone who is tender before God and the ministry of the Holy Spirit. I want our Lord to show me when I need correcting or a nudge in a certain direction.
I am stuck. I can not decide if i believe in Jesus (as God) or as prophet (as Quran teaches). I have a strong belief in God and get responses that is possible to interpret both from the christian point of view and the quranic point of view. I can not pray because of this, or i pray but not according to instructions in Bible or Quran. What should i do?
God knows your heart and your mind even better than you do. Be as patient and honest with Him as you can and continue to ask for guidance and revelation. Consider fasting too, with the purpose of your search in mind. From my own experience, I was attracted to Christ based on the symbolic or abstract truth of the gospels a number of years ago following an exploration of such truths in other spiritual narratives. It seemed clear that the story of Jesus went far further than others in describing the nature of God Who IS Love and Truth. As a solution to our sinfulness and an explanation for our innate longings it's simply perfect. I believed this without knowing whether the story was literal or not, because I wasn't there and the resurrection seemed so fantastical. Eventually a series of very clear communications and miraculous signs in my own life and in the lives of others mounted up to demonstrate that not only was God drawing me back like a prodigal son and making it clear that the Old and New Testaments were His Word, but that if He could do what He did in my life then nothing was impossible for Him. On reflection that for Jesus to be a mere allegory would be too empty for The Living God, I could not help committing to believe and as usual I found that in the deepest heart of my soul I had already known. You will have to experience for yourself though, and God of all beings understands. Do check out inspired works of people who write and video apologetics if you need, including The Bible Project recommended in this video, but read the Bible and pray for discernment and understanding and guidance and revelation. God bless.
Faith comes from hearing and reading the word of God. The whole Old Testament points to a coming Messiah- towards one who could fulfill the prophecy and become our Savior- The New Testament is a record of Jesus and His fulfillment of that, and of the establishment of Christ’s church- the body of which Christ is head- God’s word is truth and truth will withstand a close audit. If you honestly search the scriptures it will lead you to the knowledge of Christ and will help you develop faith in Christ. Curiosity can lead you to knowledge- knowledge can lead you to faith- faith should lead you to obedience- obedience will allow you entry into the kingdom of heaven (the church)- ultimately your passing will make permanent your relationship with God-

You will see urself around the fallen and in places you think you shouldn't be at first. Look to him and he will show you his plans.

Taking an even closer look at how God interacted with Joseph and the reaction by his brothers we see that it was God's intention for his brothers to grow in resentment toward him. Not just his father giving him the special coat, but the revelation that God gave Joseph in his dream regarding how his brothers would bow down to him on top of it all. Clearly we can see God's intention and it played out in how their actions against Joseph played into the sequence of events that went into causing Joseph's life to take the course that it did. Cleary Joseph saw this in the end and spoke about this to his brothers in the last chapter of Genesis. Joseph spoke of two aspects. One was the evil intensions in his brothers hearts, and also the will of God in everything that happened in order to bring about the events according to God's will. We also see this in other places in the bible where God brought the Assyrians against the nation of Israel in order to punish them, but then turning around and punishing the Assyrians for the intentions in their hearts against Israel. We also see this discussed in Romans 9 regarding Jacob and Esau, Pharaoh, and the potter having power over the clay.

Is it right to follow the teachings of any ONE MAN, or should we expect to be individually taught through the study of the Bible? The Scriptures answer, "One is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren" (`Matt. 23:8`). We should not follow man, nor manmade creeds or systems. God exercised the supervising over His consecrated people; as we read, "Now hath God set the members, every one of them, in the Body, as it hath pleased him" (`1 Cor. 12:18`); therefore He advises Christians to come together to assist in building each other up in the most holy faith (`Heb. 10:24,25`). He directs the church to select elders--not Lords, nor Masters, nor Reverends (`1 Tim. 3:3`; `Titus 1:5-9`). These are "overseers" to feed the flock of God (`Acts 21:28`; `1 Pet. 5:1-3`). St. Paul says, "Be ye followers of me, even as I am of Christ." The most faithful have been followers of the Apostle, who followed in the footsteps of Jesus. This is not following man, but following the Divine leadings through the Lord and the Apostles. Similarly today we note God's leadings through His servants. In this we are following Jesus Christ, not man. Individual study of the Bible seems indispensable to proper Christian development, and is commendable, just as individual study of Geology would be commendable; but one must not ignore the aids to Bible study which God has providentially furnished; to do so would be as unwise as for a pupil in astronomy to ignore the astronomical instruments and findings of others who have preceded him in the study of the same science. "Study to show thyself approved unto God (not unto men); rightly dividing the Word of truth" (`2 Tim. 2:15`).
The Bible project is great except some of the ways they present things I think are debatable such as talking about Jesus' victory on the cross as over evil as opposed to as punishment for sin or suggesting that God's command in the Old Testament to destroy the Cannanites was just hyperbolic language as opposed to being somethingvto take literally.

COULD someone give some serious thought to helping me understand specifically just- WHAT GOD IS IN CONTROL OF???? I get he is in control of our spiritual lives but it seems whenever I hear someone make that statement they're really talking about something more in the physical realm & yet we know that's just not so..
Revelation 19:6 describes God as being omnipotent, which means that nothing is out of his control. Though holy scripture does not specifically use the word control, it does say that God "directs" in Proverbs 16:9: "A man's heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps." Interestingly, Job 14:5 says that our days are determined (the number of them): "Seeing his days are determined, the number of his months are with thee, thou hast appointed his bounds that he cannot pass;" Which suggests a limit, because Ecclesiastes 7:17 says that you can die before the time God has appointed you, according to your own decisions: "Be not over much wicked, neither be thou foolish: why shouldest thou die before thy time? So, it is clear that God has granted man freewill, as it is referenced in scripture 17 times, yet that will can be contrary to his will, or in concord with it. Either way, God still has caused for certain events to occur. Such as, this key one, in Acts 17:24-28: 24 God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands; 25 Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things; 26 And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and *hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;* 27 *That they should seek the Lord,* if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us: 28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring. I find it most interesting that God put "determined" followed by "if haply they might". Therein lies the mystery. To further illustrate that mystery, John 3:21 says: "But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that *they are wrought in God."* This is mirrored in Philippians 2:13, though this time it is talking about Christians only: "For *it is God which worketh* in you both *to will* and *to do* of his good pleasure." So we could say that when someone does a good work, it is not they who are following through with that work, but that the work is of God. And also, in the Christian, God affects the both the will and the ability to do that which is good. So, these are the places where you can say, "God is at work." This leads on to Romans 7, which I will link here: kjbo.org/Romans-Chapter-7/ But I still need to quote verses 18 and 22 to 23: 18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but *how* to perform that which is good I find not. 22 For I delight in *the law of God* after the inward man: 23 But I see *another law in my members,* warring against the *law of my mind,* and bringing me into captivity to the *law of sin* which is in my members. So there are two laws: the law of God, and the law of sin. Whatsoever is in accordance with the law of God is a thing that God has determined, and whatsoever is of the law of sin must not be a thing that God has determined... Right? Compare these two passages: Acts 2:23 Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain: Acts 3:13 The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, hath glorified his Son Jesus; whom ye delivered up, and denied him in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let him go. It was ultimately God's will that Jesus be delivered to be crucified, as he is "the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world" (Rev. 13:8), yet it was the Jews who crucified him. This is a perfect illustration of (Genesis 20:50): "But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, *to save much people alive."* As it is written (Romans 11:31-34): 31 Even so have these also now not believed, that through your mercy they also may obtain mercy. 32 For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, *that he might have mercy upon all.* 33 O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out! 34 For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor? It was of necessity that the blood of Jesus be shed in order for good to ultimately be done. But keep in mind, how ever God did bring this to pass, he certainly did not work any sin. God did not transgress any of his own law. Read 2 Corinthians 5:12: "For he hath made him to be sin for us, *who knew no sin;* that we might be made the righteousness of God in him." So, it is not simple to answer "What is God in control of?" God will do that which is according to his promises, and he will do that which is good, even through the evil works of others. As I said at the beginning, God is omnipotent, which is to say, his power has no limit, so his will is not hindered by his ability/power. Does this mean he chooses to control and cause every thing that has ever happened? No, because sin exists, which is against his will. From the beginning, it was God's will for Adam and Eve to obey him, but he knowing that that would not happen, had already determined a better outcome to occur, through Jesus. Then, a better question to ask may be: "Is God able to perform that which is according to his will?" Yes. "Are we able to perform that which is according to our will?" No; not certainly. What is God's will? Short answer: Search God's word (to find out).
Good question. In short, Gods ultimate and sovereign plan WILL prevail and happen as stated in the book of Revelation. In the meantime, we live in a fallen world whereas some situations and circumstances can be absolutely horrific. To simply say that “God is in control” or that “God has His reasons” when tragedy strikes often misrepresents the character of God. Mankind chose sin and independence from God back in the Garden of Eden, consequently allowing our adversary, the devil, the freedom to roam around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. 1Peter 5:8 (paraphrased). One of the ways that we are made in the image of God is that we are created with the ability of rationalization / abstract thought and can therefore make cognitive choices. God allows us our choices and their results within the boundaries of His sovereign will, which we cannot effect. Natural disasters also fall under the umbrella of a “fallen and broken world”. Revelation explains that all will pass away that isn’t eternal and righteous. I look forward to that day and hope to meet you there. While extremely condensed, I hope this helps. Prayerfully. @@TarkynSharples2 I'm gonna venture a guess u have no idea how many times u just contradicted yourself. Also u can't use the Bible to defend what the Bible says. If u do then of course it will necessarily always turn out to b correct except where it contradicts itself. God's control looks a whole lot like well control.
@@tonydeornellis8305 I appreciate ur well thought out & honest reply. For me it doesn't seem to go far enough in the rational area. It's difficult to scripturally say natural disasters were not always a part of Earth just because we have no indication they were in Eden. Also to get to God's Sovereign Will in the end has been the greatest deterrent to believing there even is one thru the ages, therefor causing man's God given rationality to keep him out of Heaven & or God's will.
Rationalization is certainly at the heart of our human condition. We simply don't have the mental capacity to understand everything about God's will, plans, ways, etc. This is where faith comes in. Hebrews 11 is known as the faith chapter with special emphasis on verse 5. In Isaiah 55:8-9, God lets us know that our ways and thinking can't keep up with His. We can see here that faith picks up where intellect drops off. Simply, we will not understand everything about God this side of Heaven. As far as when natural disasters began, my guess is after Eden and another specific event, but I don't know for sure. I will research this and seed where it leads. I have to ask if you have accepted Christ as you Lord and Savior. Once we do, we recieve the gift of the Holy Spirit. Who better to explain God and His character than the Spirit of God Himself? 1. Failure to integrate the Bible into one's life by not responding 2. Failure to ask what the inspired author's intent was, what they wanted to teach 3. Failure to read the Bible as a whole, all encompassing work of God
Is it possible to show favor to one child over another, and still love all the other children? Now watch me put this question to a distinct context. Is is possible for God to love all His children and favor them with inequality by giving some more blessings than others? How about this. Is it possible to be a wise and good owner, to pay one worker more wages than another based on their gender if they all were in good health and pledged to work for that owner for 6 years?
#1. Even if you change your life, how do you know that what you're doing is right, or is God's will? You could always be misinterpreting the Bible, or misinterpreting God's will. The Bible is often vague enough to leave this possibility wide open. The Bible itself confirms that Satan can appear as angel of light. So HOW DO YOU KNOW that you're right?
You see it in the fruits of the Spirit or fruits of the flesh. This is often talked about, esp. in the New Testament. A Spirit-filled life yielded to God *will* produce fruits of the Spirit - and a life yielded to the flesh yields the fruit of sin. So, while yes, there are some more difficult passages that Christians often lovingly (hopefully) debate over, there are *plenty* of Biblical passages that are very clear on how to please God. That being said - maybe your question is : How do we know the Bible is true and not a ruse of Satan? We might look at all other religions, which all teach some form of works-righteousness system and compare it with Christianity, which teaches salvation by grace through faith, and that not of our own. So either Satan invented a singular religious book and system that teaches us to praise God, bear with evildoers, repent, and know that we bring nothing for our salvation...or he didn't, and it's God talking to us ;) Also -- every Christian I think should have a personal testimony -- I used to be very sinful, not following God - lustful, hateful, prideful, arrogant, and disobedient. I'm still that way unfortunately, but way, way less, and I'm learning to love God and follow him - more patient, way less lustful, less prideful, less disobedient -- I still have a long way to go, but one must admit -- those are good qualities to improve upon, yes?
May we all have the true heart when we approach religion. I tend to check out stuff like how to answer Islam, it sprout out from my love for the Word and my intention to study more. I found myself to want to debunk their false teachings. Hope that it wont become my pride and downfall.
Rip someone else? Jesus picked out twelve disciples who in many ways were different and sometimes opposites. They followed Jesus with the Great Commission and didn’t do the great correction among themselves.
With all humility and respect, I think you misunderstood when Jesus talked about the rock and sand foundations. Jesus was saying those who build their house on the rock(Himself) will be saved from Gods wrath. And those who build their house on sand will be destroyed. God bless
Actually he said "whosoever heareth these SAYINGS OF MINE and DOETH THEM shall be likened unto a man that built his house upon a rock". The context was the end of the sermon on the mount and Jesus was saying HIS WORD is what is to be built upon since he had spent a great portion of the sermon saying "ye have heard it said BUT I SAY UNTO YOU.." Only being obedient to the Word of God can truly allow a man to stand when it's all said and done. Certainly he went on in Mt 16 to describe himself as the Rock and certainly he was the Chief Cornerstone but in the context of the sermon on the mount "the house built on a rock" was the house that was built on "these saying of MINE".
Your first point repentance; the reader should be changed.....the bible says it is written to the children of God.....It's not for every man it can't be understood nor accepted by the natural man, as they will see it as foolish. Some might think these are the scoffers but in fact the scripture has only one right way of being understood…..the way God wrote it. But there are countless interpretations….Why? How many that read it are in fact natural men? What's more what is it to repent? Every person reading scripture is doing so in hopes of changing something. Buddhists understand they are fallen. I think most people would legitimately say they do not/are not able to live up to their own standard let alone what they imagine God's to be. That however is exactly the problem with most readers of scripture they imagine God….He is a concept they have become convinced (intellectually) of. Religion everywhere of every kind has one focused, to change the behavior of those who follow it. But a man cannot change himself and the bible while being an exceptional book is not God. Scripture is not how a person is saved nor is it the way by which they are or can be renewed. The apostles asked what hope is there for any man and Yeshua said what is not possible for man is possible for God…..A man reading the scripture and expecting change by that would be equivalent to him reading a book that describes brain surgery and then attempting to perform it on himself. God didn’t give us His word to save us…..Yeshua saves us and does so by relationship….not my opinion; it is written….. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from (faith) for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. So then what is the change that comes? The change is a new nature one that by love like God can no longer sin…..right? But all men sin and they don’t stop; not Paul, not Yeshua’s mother, not David one after Gods own heart, not Abraham the father of the faithful, not Moses, who never entered the land because of his transgressions….but you say reading scripture will/should do it! Well the man who makes Yeshua the master of his life will sin far less often and that pleases God….humm is that true? The man that makes God the master of his own life can as easily remove Him….that man is his own god. It is impossible to please God except that we walk by faith….. But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. So what is faith? For most faith and belief are basically one and the same…if so why two words? Is belief the source and faith the outcome? Most treat it as though that was the case but in fact exactly the opposite is true….. All who have faith believe, its unavoidable unchangeable, but not all that believe have faith and it is for that reason many that have been raised up to hold a belief in God walk away as soon as they are able. They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us. In the not so distant future there is to be a great falling away for that to happen the persons falling away must have first been of the church or at least have claimed to be Christian….In reality though they were of a mind that claims works salvation, rather than trusting God. I get easy believism seems to be an affront to all that the church small c teaches and a man that believes God will save him no matter what is as wrong as one that thinks because he has done good thing he’s saved. Not by works or the lack of them are we saved but by faith alone…. The great question that should be asked and taught is how and where faith comes…… What is it and how do I get some? If you are convinced faith is believing and you do…. and to prove it do works….(Lordship salvation) then I don’t think anything I could say would/could change your mind. But scripture says that faith is the outcome of encountering God…. For those who like to quote James; I will remind you that until James saw and spoke to his risen brother he did not believe…. Paul was on his way to arrest Christians when he was turned to a different path by an encounter with God….there is not a single man of whose salvation we are sure that has not encountered God personally….even the thief on the cross….by an act of the God that saves came to see his messiah…. Was he saved; Yeshua said so, and how? Recognizing Him was the difference….not works. What is it to repent and of what? What is it to sin? Adam fell because he failed to recognize God….not because he was disobedient…. He was disobedient because he failed to see. No one who sees God turns away from Him but those who do not see Him do and in doing so sin is made manifest, worked out; but sin took place before the act. It was in the blindness in the man, not seeing God. Faith gives us eyes to see and a mind to understand. Repent therefore and know God His voice His will. It is to seek Him with all your heart believing as you are a man that there is something greater. Believing but not yet knowing Him. As a man or woman might know somewhere in the world is my soul mate and not being willing to rest or settle until that one has been found. What power was it that spoke to them and convinced them not to settle? Why were they so sure the search would pay off? Maybe they were not sure but only that to settle in their minds was unthinkable…. So too is it with the people that find God….not because He’s hiding but because He is for them the only possible outcome of life. So He gives them eyes that can see and the sight is called faith.
The most common mistake Believers make when studying the Bible is reading passages out of context. God deals with His Creation differently at different times.
I am a follower of Christ I am seeking more knowledge of God all of the time I can also distinguish between someone speaking the truth and somebody seeking to make tons of money and not live in the way God wants us to live.
Secular history reading Divine Allegory can't understand Imagination is the only God in man, judging is classic theology that thinks God is outside. Nothing new under the sun. Ecclesiastes 3:15: “That which is, already has been; that which is to be, already has been; and God seeks what has been driven away.” The “natural man” cannot grasp that, for to him reality is based only on the evidence of the senses. The man of reason could justify the verse’s end, saying if it has any meaning then the writer must mean recurrence. The sun comes every day and the moon completes its cycle and the seasons come and go. If we took a picture of the universe today, the scientists can compute how long it will take to return to this point in the picture. So the intellectual man could justify the verse; but that is not what is meant, for it is addressed not to the man of reason or the man of sense, but to the man of Imagination. What is it all about? “That which is, already has been; that which is to be, already has been, and God seeks what has been driven away.”

Ouch! This hit me really hard. I almost forgot about this teaching. Thank you Lord for reminding me. Glory honor to you alone Lord God.

Yes, The Bible Project channel is indeed very wonderful
It's remarkable how far it's come, from it's humble beginnings.
They are good. But keep in mind that their some theology like atonement is so messed up. God bless you guys
Love it!
Stay AWAY from the Bible Project they believe a blasphemous gospel
They deny penal substitutionary atonement
This is an excellent channel that I stumbled upon, I immediately subscribed. Also he mentioned The bible project and I just have to say, it has really helped me in seeing the larger story so I'm glad he recommend it.
And this is why I esteem Dr. Plummer. Biblically wise and even handed in his responses. Thx for all u do señor Plummer. #DDoG

A true teacher, Holy Spirit, inspired teacher.
I just found you today on UA-cam. Thank you for being so gracious
I love this video 💗 it's a good reminder to stay humble n grounded
Yes, The Bible Project- is an amazing channel for those wanting “easy to follow” videos on all books of the Bible. They’re desirable to watch and you grasp a deeper understanding of Christian theology.
I just discovered them a few months ago. I agree - they're informative AND fun to watch!
Please keep in mind that they don't believe in hell. And their atonement theology is messed up.
Really enjoy the method and information of you guys' delivery ... have listened to many of the UA-cams with the express intention of becoming more faithful, in my life, to the scriptures -- the information will bring about transformation. Wonderful video and content. Thank You Dr. Plummer and SBTS!
Thank you really mean so much too me when im blindly reading the bible

The whole Old Testament points to a coming Messiah- towards one who could fulfill the prophecy and become our Savior- The New Testament is a record of Jesus and His fulfillment of that, and of the establishment of Christ’s church- the body of which Christ is head-
God’s word is truth and truth will withstand a close audit. If you honestly search the scriptures it will lead you to the knowledge of Christ and will help you develop faith in Christ.
Curiosity can lead you to knowledge- knowledge can lead you to faith- faith should lead you to obedience- obedience will allow you entry into the kingdom of heaven (the church)- ultimately your passing will make permanent your relationship with God-
Helena L Jesus is the only way to the father. Jesus loves you and will make himself real to you if you sincerely seek him. Pray to Jesus to reveal himself to you and I have no doubt that he will answer your prayer. Then you will know in your heart 100% who the true God is.
Helena it's a good start as you have a genuine interest in searching the truth. Quran is the only record that denies Jesus being crucified inspite of lots of historical documents supporting the crucifixion of Jesus. Cry out to know Him and He will reveal Himself. Do see Dr. Nabeel Quereshis testimony on Searching Allah finding Jesus. May Almighty God reveal Himself to you and by His Grace we will see each other in Heaven one day.
Look into the historical facts of Jesus of Nazareth, specifically His death and resurrection. The resurrection is the key. Then you will see how other texts speak falsehoods about what happened to Jesus. I suggest Dr. William Lane Craig's work on the resurrection.
Great wisdom. Thank you and God bless!

James 1:23-25 (WEB) [23] For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man looking at his natural face in a mirror; [24] for he sees himself, and goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. Where does the old testament teach a triune God, where does the new testament teach a triune God, what manuscripts is it found in, what is a triune god?
Yes. All these things are gifts and come from the Hand of God, and are not of ourselves, lest we should boast.
As Christians the biggest problem i see is the guilt the devil uses to bring us down. We read and attend church and we become religious. God uses each of us different. Has us in places we feel we shouldn't be. But once ur relationship is strong with the Lord and you are walking with him and he knows your heart is right. You will see urself around the fallen and in places you think you shouldn't be at first. Look to him and he will show you his plans.

interesting. I have never read the bible. ever. I have read the first page. But recently am wanting to read the bible for the first time. and I like your take on the subject. Maybe instead of asking you where to start. I should just read it.
but. I did do bible studies as a kid. and there were many great stories. the storys made it so interesting. i think maybe god wants to hear us in a time of unsertainty.
When I read the Bible the first time as an entire book I started in Acts and just kept reading. I have read the book twice now and still am at odds with a lot of dogma Christians and most Catholics have been led to believe. Just read it through like you would any other book and don't stop. Good luck.
I'm no theologian,I have only read the whole bible once, yet in asking God for wisdom.I came to the understanding of the bible being this. Its ALL ABOUT JESUS!🙂The old testament points to the new,the new testament confirms the old.
Good stuff! Thank you!

Wow! I thought it was going to be not understanding the context or how you interpret scripture. That first one blew my mind. It's what the church leaders did during the time period of Christ's life on earth. They held people to standards that they themselves did not do and lacked love. Luke 11.33-54
Ahh, very well said sir.
Ah yes, but what are you referring to?
Amen!
Ouch!
When people talk 2 me about their problems or other people. I tell them put the shoe on the other foot and how would u act if someone does u like that. Then i find a quote from the Bible and let them think 4 their self and answer
Ouch! Amen!
1. Believing Elohim were eternal.
2. Believing narrative speaks about a creation.
3. Believing all those beings were spiritual.
Suggestions:
1. Don’t comment until after listening to the entirety of a video,
2. Don’t read comments until after listening to the entirety.
3. Ignore frivolous comments.
4. Focus on comments from what appear to be sincere and knowledgeable persons.
5. State your qualifications and references if appropriate.
Though holy scripture does not specifically use the word control, it does say that God "directs" in Proverbs 16:9:
"A man's heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps."
Interestingly, Job 14:5 says that our days are determined (the number of them):
"Seeing his days are determined, the number of his months are with thee, thou hast appointed his bounds that he cannot pass;"
Which suggests a limit, because Ecclesiastes 7:17 says that you can die before the time God has appointed you, according to your own decisions:
"Be not over much wicked, neither be thou foolish: why shouldest thou die before thy time?
So, it is clear that God has granted man freewill, as it is referenced in scripture 17 times, yet that will can be contrary to his will, or in concord with it. Either way, God still has caused for certain events to occur. Such as, this key one, in Acts 17:24-28:
24 God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;
25 Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;
26 And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and *hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;*
27 *That they should seek the Lord,* if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:
28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.
I find it most interesting that God put "determined" followed by "if haply they might". Therein lies the mystery.
To further illustrate that mystery, John 3:21 says:
"But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that *they are wrought in God."*
This is mirrored in Philippians 2:13, though this time it is talking about Christians only:
"For *it is God which worketh* in you both *to will* and *to do* of his good pleasure."
So we could say that when someone does a good work, it is not they who are following through with that work, but that the work is of God. And also, in the Christian, God affects the both the will and the ability to do that which is good. So, these are the places where you can say, "God is at work."
This leads on to Romans 7, which I will link here: kjbo.org/Romans-Chapter-7/
But I still need to quote verses 18 and 22 to 23:
18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but *how* to perform that which is good I find not.
22 For I delight in *the law of God* after the inward man:
23 But I see *another law in my members,* warring against the *law of my mind,* and bringing me into captivity to the *law of sin* which is in my members.
So there are two laws: the law of God, and the law of sin. Whatsoever is in accordance with the law of God is a thing that God has determined, and whatsoever is of the law of sin must not be a thing that God has determined... Right? Compare these two passages:
Acts 2:23
Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:
Acts 3:13
The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, hath glorified his Son Jesus; whom ye delivered up, and denied him in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let him go.
It was ultimately God's will that Jesus be delivered to be crucified, as he is "the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world" (Rev. 13:8), yet it was the Jews who crucified him. This is a perfect illustration of (Genesis 20:50):
"But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, *to save much people alive."*
As it is written (Romans 11:31-34):
31 Even so have these also now not believed, that through your mercy they also may obtain mercy.
32 For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, *that he might have mercy upon all.*
33 O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!
Read 2 Corinthians 5:12:
"For he hath made him to be sin for us, *who knew no sin;* that we might be made the righteousness of God in him."
So, it is not simple to answer "What is God in control of?" God will do that which is according to his promises, and he will do that which is good, even through the evil works of others.
Then, a better question to ask may be:
"Is God able to perform that which is according to his will?" Yes.
1. Failure to integrate the Bible into one's life by not responding
2. Failure to ask what the inspired author's intent was, what they wanted to teach
3. Failure to read the Bible as a whole, all encompassing work of God
Is it possible to show favor to one child over another, and still love all the other children?
Now watch me put this question to a distinct context.
Is is possible for God to love all His children and favor them with inequality by giving some more blessings than others?
How about this.
Is it possible to be a wise and good owner, to pay one worker more wages than another based on their gender if they all were in good health and pledged to work for that owner for 6 years?
the last word i like "Triune God".
wait i still small letter
So either Satan invented a singular religious book and system that teaches us to praise God, bear with evildoers, repent, and know that we bring nothing for our salvation...or he didn't, and it's God talking to us ;)
Also -- every Christian I think should have a personal testimony -- I used to be very sinful, not following God - lustful, hateful, prideful, arrogant, and disobedient. I'm still that way unfortunately, but way, way less, and I'm learning to love God and follow him - more patient, way less lustful, less prideful, less disobedient -- I still have a long way to go, but one must admit -- those are good qualities to improve upon, yes?
That will preach...
May we all have the true heart when we approach religion. I tend to check out stuff like how to answer Islam, it sprout out from my love for the Word and my intention to study more. I found myself to want to debunk their false teachings. Hope that it wont become my pride and downfall.
Keep praying for the grace of humility.
I see myself in this.

@@bidhan0001 Oh, that's fine.
The most common mistake is thinking the Bible can be interpreted by human reasoning. Many people hear and believe but few take action.
Great study to see the complete picture: www.yah-tube.com/videos/scott/index.html
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Not of works, lest any man should boast.
The great question that should be asked and taught is how and where faith comes……
What is it and how do I get some?
