My review on Allmusic written February 3, 2018. 4.5 Stars Obituary is the latest album by Death Metal legends, Obituary. At first, I thought this release was not quite as good as their previous album; Inked In Blood. But on repeated listenings, I learned that it is as good...in fact, it is a great album. Tortured gutteral vocals from John Hardy are as good as he has done. Every cut is solid and many are outstanding. Highlights include "A Lesson In Vengeance", "End It Now", "Kneel Before Me", "It Lives", "Turned To Stone" and "Straight To Hell". Obituary is much like Bolt Thrower in that you basically know what you are going to get with every release and that's a good thing because the product is always first class Death Metal. Obituary's self titled album is a must for Obituary and Metal fans everywhere. It will not disappoint.
