After an unsuccessful ablation last year I am having a partial laproscopic hysterectomy in March to stop bleeding. It won't cure my chronic iron deficiency anemia, but at least this they will be able to stop this bleeding. I have been requiring weekly iron infusions for over a year. Looking forward to getting this surgery and recovery behind me. I asked my surgeon about spinal anasthesia, but my Doctor said no. So general anasthesia is the way to go. Thank you for your time!

yeah I suffer from HIGH anxiety, I'm fine till I get to the OR then my anxiety goes right out the window and I totally freak out....I have a surgery coming up on the 19th of this month, 3 days away....my anxiety is already causing heartburn, surgery doesn't scare me, being put under doesn't scare me, what scares me is being wheeled into a room full of "smurfs" being surrounded by strangers all wearing masks (stranger anxiety)...then being tied to the bed, then a mask put on my face while tied to the OR bed..causes a full blown panic attack that triggers charlie horses....yes I know all of them are there to help me...but my anxiety doesn't care....I trust all the Dr's but lord be with me this time.....

I hope your surgery went well. Usually it is our predetermined fears that are the worst for us but not always that easy to ignore the fear and panic/anxiety.

You will get sedated in the pre-op area as I was. The last thing I remembered was meeting the anesthesiologist in pre-op, and after the first thing I remember is being in recovery. I don’t remember the OR at all. Good luck. You’ll do fine.

All those questions pre-OP? The last surgery I had being out of town from hospital I had to come in super early. It turned out I had already answered them all at pre op appointment with doctor doing surgery. I found it extremely annoying!

Hi. I have a question. I have to have surgery soon for a torn rotator cuff. The good news is it is day surgery. I am a 43 yo male who is petrified of being wheeled into the operating room while awake due to the traumatic experiences I have associated with my surgeries. Is it possible for an adult patient to be put under anesthesia before going into the OR ? I know it is not typically done except with children now a days. But it would certainly make it easier on me and everyone involved in my short surgery. Any info you could provide would be appreciated. Thank you.

The anesthesia machine/table will be set up in each OR suite. Their gas system is connected there. Their monitoring systems are connected there. For those reasons you couldn't be intubated before going back to the OR. I realize it's been a year since you posted your question, but for others watching this video, I decided to write a response. Most people are nervous before surgery. It's perfectly normal. Most people have questions or concerns. That's why with most elective surgeries, the patient has their preop labwork and anesthesia interview a few days before surgery. When you meet with the anesthesiologist, tell them if you've had any problems with previous surgeries, if you're extremely nervous, etc. You will also meet your surgery nurse and CRNA before going back into the OR. Usually the CRNA will give versed IV for the ride back. That will help greatly with nerves. I hope your surgery was a success!

So how was it? I have been in surgeries since (much bigger worse than rotator cuff) kid and every surgery has been a pleasant experience, pain comes later but I never was afraid of surgeries.

The surgery itself was actually not bad at all. The recovery however was much harder than I thought it would be.

Im fine until i get to the OR. Being tied down, mask on Face. Then here comes the proprhol(white stuff). I experienced them pushing it so fast. I don't like that feeling i get when it hits you.
