I graduated high school in June 1974 on that morning I used my grandpa's 1973 Dodge Dart to get my driver's license. It too was olive green but in much better condition...lol 😂
Midwest Military sells spark plug adapters that allow you to use modern spark plugs with your system. I use them for my m38 and it makes replacing spark plugs a lot cheaper. You will also keep your waterproof ability and it doesn’t look a lot different than the authentic ones.
Robert, it was me you bought that car from. I never ran it off the fuel in the tank. I ran a rubber line from the fuel pump to a gas can. Just to make sure the motor was good
Not bad for sittin' for so long! The " Dastardly Dart" lives! My 71 C-10 has been sitting for a bit too. Fuel filter is empty, so I have to do what you did to the ambulance to get him going again!
Great job getting the old dodge started. with a few adjustments, and another carb, it should run great, sounded good! Great video, but Robert you need to move the Ambulance around a bit more than once ever few months, or on day your gonna find it wrapped in westeria.
Another one of your multi-talents. Way to go Mechanic Robert! I never had a doubt the Ugly Dart would start. Extra bonus, your sense of humor. Face it, Robert, you are something else! Yes, I knew you'd say something about that knife on the ambulance hood. Quitting while I am ahead. Loved the whole thing. 👍👍😅😅❣️❣️
I had a 1973 Dodge Dart, a Canary yellow. If I parked it in the parking lot at the Fashion Fair Shopping Center, it stood out like a sore thumb, and you were never lost for long.
Robert, I was looking at the beautiful prints from the Old Byrd Farm. Maybe you should make a calendar with these?! If you have already done so- I didn’t see it. Just an idea!
Oh, and technically I think that's the ignition relay you're using to start it from; the solenoid itself is down on the starter. I've had to replace a few of them, very easy job and pretty cheap.
The car has a brand new ignition switch in it. It worked perfectly after I installed it. We started it from key. The problem has got to be under the hood. Test power at the ballast resistor when you turn the key. It's new but could be bad
Robert, I just love that old ambulance. Something to do with American pride, I guess. However, I see what looked like wisteria sneaking up inside there. Our son has our old 2007 Dodge minivan and was approached by a man who still has his 2006 with 400,000 miles on it!
Well robert I will say you definitely try and have a go at anything and I no you love your cars and the engine sounds pretty good all the best Robert 👍 and I wonder what you will do next keep safe Andrew south wales uk 👍 👌 😀 🇬🇧
Oh my gosh, my parents had a green Dodge Dart and that was my childhood car growing up. I remember my brother and I would always be rolling the windows down and climbing in like Dukes of Hazard. It had an 8-track player and the only 8-track we had was Don McClean's American Pie. It's the only one you need! Great memories of that ugly old car. So cool that you have one!!
you might be able to find a cross reference sheet for the spark plugs, that could give you more options with different supplier’s and heat ranges for that system. yes with something that is key to a good running engine like the plugs, avoid “knock off” especially from china!
Looks like a lil' Carter BBD on there. Chinese knockoffs are cheap and readily available if it comes down to it. And Darts with any V8 are worth something, much as I appreciate the Leaning Tower of Power that is the slant six. And if I lived anywhere close I would love to snap up that cast iron 4bbl intake and headers, lemme tell ya. Enjoyable as always -- thanks Robert!
Yeah, I think I’ll try my luck on one of those Amazon replacements. I’m going to get the fuel pump hooked up and then we’ll try it again and see how it’s going.
You just need a new relay switch. They don't "talk" to anything. It is just a heavy duty switch which is switched on by the key. That wasn't an uncommon repair back in the day. Isn't there any warranty on your carburetor rebuild? Surely they could bush that or something.
He is doing alright. And I used to work at / manage a classic VW shop. That was ages ago. But I’ve messed with old cars since I was about 14. It was actually Ken’s son, Little George, and I that used to work on old cars together when I was a teen.

The "leaking" through the pivot rod, comes from dumping gas down the throat of the carb. No worries.
Great job Robert, I knew you could do it, can’t wait to see it on the road! Take care

If I could call back a few years I would definitely buy it from you. Don't let it go cheap. They are hard to come by.

Thanks -
Two Dodgers starting today. Great news, thanks for your video.
I am old enough to have heard cars run back in the late 70s and I think this one sounds real good .
This makes me smile! My 1st car was my Granma's 1069 Dodge Dart!
Robert, it was me you bought that car from. I never ran it off the fuel in the tank. I ran a rubber line from the fuel pump to a gas can. Just to make sure the motor was good
May the lord bless and protect you Robert

Is that a 318 in the Dart? Super solid motor! Built like a tank! There's still life in it! 👍👍👍
Yeah, 318!
GOOD JOB, Robert!!!!
Robert, I was looking at the beautiful prints from the Old Byrd Farm. Maybe you should make a calendar with these?! If you have already done so- I didn’t see it. Just an idea!
Great idea!
I'm in anticipation for the interior to get finished!---The ambulance has a nice-sounding engine.
Oh, and technically I think that's the ignition relay you're using to start it from; the solenoid itself is down on the starter. I've had to replace a few of them, very easy job and pretty cheap.
Good going on getting the Dodges going. New name for the cart, maybe "Old Ugly Duck Dart". Either way congratulations on getting them running.
A thorough wash and vacuum, blankets over the seats, adhesive backed sound mats olaced over floor holes and you've got a family vacation travel car.
Perfect
Good day Robert. 😊

I’d love to see u in Waverly but I’ll settle for your videos…I never miss them! Thanku Robert.

Robert,
Way to go!
Cheers,
Rik Spector
Where's that Sleeperdude guy when ya need him? 🤷♀️ 😄
Well robert I will say you definitely try and have a go at anything and I no you love your cars and the engine sounds pretty good all the best Robert 👍 and I wonder what you will do next keep safe Andrew south wales uk 👍 👌 😀 🇬🇧
I got a Dodge that needs you Robert! 😊
My first car was a '57 Chevy 6cyl. I loved that car!
New crab get a triple Gage set Sweet running 318
I learned to drive a stick on a Dodge Dart. It was my brother's, on the floor. All souped up. Ran fast. But that clutch was so hard to push in.

Next time you’re in town, we’ll have to take the Dart….. if it’s going by then 😅
A High School Classmates mom had the Valiant model same color with the Slant 6 in it. She drove up till the day she passed away a few years ago.
Thank you for sharing and congratulations 🎊 on starting the Dart
You sure have been busy! Got alot done! 😊 😅
Thanks Robert enjoyed
Glad you enjoyed it
Brings back the time I spent with my Ex fixing up cars. Even took one to our local drag strip. Did you see the smoke coming out the back pipes
Yeah, nothing im too worried about

Awesome 💯 job. I love old cars and trucks. But I am a Chevy truck girl 😎😎. Lots of love and hugs to you all 😊
So smart!!! You got it !!!❤❤❤
Demon Dizzel will be driving soon. Bet Brent would love that!??
Buen trabajo amigo 👍
Love Annie ❤️🤭💯
I also ran a can of Barrymans down the carb to clean it out
I'd be proud to drive it just the way it looks!!!!
Me too tbh - but with new tires 😅
@@THEOLDBYRDFARMVLOG agreed!!! Gotta have new rubber underneath!!!!
That's why I sold my Dodge Dart. I replaced the carborater twice, and it still died in traffic or when I tried to pull into the road.
Woohoo! Way to go Robert!
I wonder if that Disney princess in the castle 🏰, had Wisteria growing around it, as I recall a vine of some sort swallowing the castle.

Take the carb back to the person who rebuilt it and have them fix it
For a while there, the dirty Dart sounded like it was leading a high-speed square dance. 😅
😆

❤🎉 yayyyy this is exciting, i think its a pretty car
Ugly paint but beautiful bones😊❤❤❤
Get a new ballast resistor and save the old one, trust me...
Aloha 🌺🥰
You need to open a garage. You are able to get anything to run. Did you get that ability from Ken? BTW. How is he doing?
He is doing alright. And I used to work at / manage a classic VW shop. That was ages ago. But I’ve messed with old cars since I was about 14. It was actually Ken’s son, Little George, and I that used to work on old cars together when I was a teen.
love that car!
Bravo😊
As My Grandad Wood Say You Have To Know How To Pat The Old Girl On The Back She Will Run.
But Robert why don’t you unearth the vehicle, clean it out, then drive it away!🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️
go see the guy that rebuilt it and see if theres anything he can do with the carb
Where is Annie?
Robert, when are you going to get back on working on the house?
As soon as I can
👍🇺🇸
👍🏼🙂
Pick up a reproduction carb of Amazon or from rock auto
Yes it does sound good
You can't beat a 318. Our block cracked from #2 freeze plug 2" down on passenger side. I jb weld it in and ran like a top till someone wrecked
How much will you be asking for the ugly Dodge. I am sure that I can double your investment to two cases of beer!
