Very helpful. Easy to get lost adding new s/w. Thank you.
Glad it helped!
Very nice and as a log time YAAC user I did not know about the book marks. That is quite useful.
Thanks for this great tutorial. I'm just getting into APRS and have much to learn. One problem I had with YAAC is that the map had a dark background and all the text on it is black, so it was nearly unreadable. I had my operating system (Pop OS Linux) set to a dark theme for the desktop and that caused the YAAC map to go dark as well. Thought I'd mention that in case anyone else had the same problem.
Nice overview video, God bless.
Thank you kindly
Take out the papers and the trash ,,Yaac ah de Yaac 😂👋
don't talk back 😂
Thanks for the video! I had already stumbled through the YAAC configuration thanks to your other videos on it Now I just need to figure out how to add some telemetry from Rpi external voltage and current sensors to beacon out. Been using (and still use at one site) Xastir, but I'm beginning to like YAAC more.
Check out this video I did a while back:

@@KM4ACK Excellent, that gives me some ideas. Thanks for the link!
I’ll watch the entire video, but I’m getting into the details now without being told what YAAC is.
Yet Another APRS Client
@@FunInSC - thank you. I did google it after my whining. 😎
Interesting mapping program. I wonder if the GPS receive information from a Baofeng HT such as the Baofeng UV-17 PRO GPS, which costs $40.00 could be gleaned from one unit acting as a receiver and placed on a mapping program like this ? I understand that several of these inexpensive HTs are using the APRS data burst protocol as they transmit their position to their partner radio. I am not suggesting that this GPS data be placed into the APRS network, but just be used in a local search and rescue operation, or in a hiking, hunting and camping situation. Can this program use the output data from a receiving handi talkie ? Thanks for your posting. It’s quite an interesting program.
Is there an advantage to using GPSD versus serial GPS for the GPS port in YAAC?
If you use serial GPS, only YAAC will be able to access the GPS. If you run it though gpsd, multiple apps can use the GPS at the same time.
I am having trouble setting the beacon time. Any suggestions ?
double check your initial repeat and stable slow rate in the beacon tab
@@KM4ACK Thank you sir
How long does the object stay on the maps?
As long as YAAC is open, it will keep beaconing out the object to keep it on the map. If YAAC isn't open or you delete the object, it will disappear from aprs.fi after about 10 minutes.
Hey Jason, do you have a link to the Direwolf setup vid?
If you installed direwolf with 73Linux, then direwolf is 99% configured. The only change you might need would be the PTT section which would depend on your radio.
Great now I know all the details about YAAC. But I don't even know what YAAC is and what it's useful for.
YAAC is an APRS (Automatic Packet Report System) application.
Great. What operating system is this on your computer?
Linux Mint but YAAC will run on just about every modern OS.
I can't find jack on yaak.
