What was the difference in brand of vaccination? Did they claim she was supposedly classed as being more susceptible as never having the influenza vaccination before? Then, twist ending, approached children in the creepiest way possible and let them shoot a baby with a needle cannon. I'm reeling from the emotional rollercoaster of these events.

I'm really happy you left the talk you had with Shaunie in the video. Her points are valid and show how complicated things can be. I'm 100% pro-vaccine, but as an white european had never considered how different the experience can be, when you can't trust your government to treat you like a valid human being.

I mean with 3.3 billion people (fully) vaccinated (reportedly) now I think they have enough "test data" so anyone still not vaccinated now without a real reason has no real valid points to make.
But yeah when it first came out, there was maybe a small reason to be wary... But the vaccine was funded by thousands of people and governments around the world and I highly doubt they harbor any ill will...
I don't really think it's particularly a continent specific issue. Numerous countries spanning the 6 inhabited continents have had a feeling of mistrust in their government's medical institutions amongst distrust in other bodies of governance.
It seems to be more of a question in whether our governments have all of their people in mind when thinking of the common good.
Sure distrust is a part of it, but I can't see how that's the entire point to be made.
Just because you're from Europe though does not mean Europeans have never been given a reason to question their government's best interest.
Hitler was European and loved his pure Germans. But for those who were German and Jewish it was a completely different scenario.

@@natschlamp actually, that may be partially true for black people who have almost full African descent. And not just to them, but to every ethnicity that has been isolated.
The differences aren't big, but few very specific medications that works to a slightly different extent in different races, there are studies about this, and it has a very logical genetical reason to it, you can Google it.
Giving an example that is not related to race.
Codeine is a morphine pro-drug, wich means, it has to be metabolised into morphine for it to work. This means, that an enzyme has to act on it, and convert it into morphine.
A certain percent of the population, doesn't have that enzime, wich means that, either codeine needs to be metabolised with a different enzime that may even have a different pathway, or it won't get metabolised, wich in result means, codeine won't be effective in people who lack that enzime.
Cases like that, with different medications, have a much higher percentage in certain ethnicities than others. (Same way certain ethnicities are more prone to being lactose intolerant, because they lack the production of lactase in adulthood, some are also more prone to lacking the production of X encime involved in a drug metabolic pathway)

Not trusting medical doctors is akin to not trusting police or teachers or therapists. Some are utter garbage, others are wonderful. Like anything, you need to find a good one. It's a challenge to find a good one but I hope she can and others like her can.

One time my mom had a really bad spasm with her back, and she had to go to the hospital, and since she isn’t affected by the certain drugs that are supposed to put her to sleep, the nurses and doctors thought she was a drug addict (which she is not) and treated her very poorly and were very rude to her. Still makes me mad.

They work by exposing the body to the antigen ( protein marker) carried by the pathogen so that the body produces memory cells for a quicker immune response when actually infected. Dead or attenuated pathogen is used in some vaccines. The COVID vaccine caries mRNA coding for the antigen so that the body is exposed to it without having to actually be harmed. Any side effects are usually minor compared to the immunisation given in most cases. Voluntary testing is also done before the vaccine is released to the public.
The MMR vaccine autism incident is due to an author with conflicting interests. The evidence used to justify the authors claims used a very small sample size. Japan has since given the vaccine to 30k children and found no link in autism and the vaccine.
But then again who am I kidding, you’d probably rather get smallpox than trust a vaccine proven to prevent a disease with a small chance of side effects

I really appreciate the bit at the end, the cinematographer's reasoning was legitimately understandable and it made me a bit more empathetic to certain arguments from anti-vaxxers. in this highly-politicized climate we tend to dehumanize and create strawmen out of people on the other side of the fence. it was good to be reminded that not every single anti-vaxxer is a raving mad lunatic who would rather have their kid disabled by polio than accept basic medical science.

Yeah. I mean, I guess when I think "Anti-Vaxxer" I usually think of people who are just downright not able to see whether or not vaccines (as in, the concept of using a vaccine and whatever it is) cause things (that I, as someone who lies on a spectrum of doubt that it'd cause these things;) such as Autism, or whatever they're potentially worried about. Of course, I empathize with the worry and the risks behind doing something you aren't necessarily all too sure of. And that applies even more so when you add in the element that you may just lie on a larger spectrum of doubt, towards those who'll be vaccinating you. I've done my fair share of changing perspectives here and there, but right now, I don't think that I can invalidate any of anyone's concerns regarding whether or not you can trust large overbearing entities in choosing the right vaccines for you. Who knows, and the point is; I won't knock you for being skeptical. Yes, some examples may be 'ridiculous', or may not apply at all. It's not like MK Ultra's going on again (I hope). But the point is, I can't knock someone else for believing that they can't trust the government enough to have them inject something into them that they can barely trust or haven't been able to learn to trust yet. Of course, under the personal assumption that most vaccines that local governments inject into us are going to be effective at thwarting further fatalities, I end up believing that I'd still rather have more people who are willing to get vaccinated than people who aren't. However, once again, I'd be worse off if I just blindly dismissed other peoples' perspectives just because they're 'anti-vaxxers' in the sense that they're opposed to getting vaccines, especially COVID vaccines when they had just started to come out.

@@ntranull629I know this video is more light hearted (minus the cameraman/camerawoman's political talk) and so not meant to be taken seriously, but the damage done by the needle could cause some issues (potentially dangerous ones).
The force of impact alone would cause decent bruising and possible internal damage to your bodies tissue and organs. If you ever had someone give you a poor needle injection, you'll usually get a small bruise already as veins bruise easily. So imagine one traveling at that speed/force, and without the slow precision. Depending on where the needle hit, it could cause more issues (like injecting the fluid into your lungs), which I don't got to tell you isn't good.
However the biggest concern I can see happening is the potential for the needle (in this method) accidentally injecting some air into your body.
It may not sound like much, but if a pocket of air is injected into your bloodstream it can cause problems, and not the small kind either. These air pockets can travel towards your brain and/or heart and can potentially cause a heart attack, stroke, respiratory failure, and may put you in cardiac arrest.
It's called an air embolism if you care to look it up.

Although I understand her reasons and respect her experience and opinions. I do feel the need to differentiate between antivaxxers who believe vaccines are evil, cause autism and all the other conspiracies (they are clearly misinformed, and could be called stupid). The other group (which I would place her in) doesn’t want to take the vaccines because of bad experiences, a poorly managed health system and a somewhat corrupt government. These are vastly different groups which doesn’t want to take the vacations because of different reasons. He was clearly thinking of the first group, while she thought of the second group.
I’m not American, and have zero experience with the problems described in this video. I’m fortunate to live in a country with one of the smallest rates of corruption in the world, we have high trust in the government, a well built and maintained public health system, one of the freest, richest and safest countries in the world.

Could it be because of her being a woman and not explicitely being a black woman? It kinda would suck if it was, and what is different?
