I’m thinking of reclassing to this MOS, can you tell me a little bit of your experience I know its been a while since the 80’s but still any info is good
During a tactical ATC field mission I was NCOIC/Facility Chief for the tactical tower system. One of the guys in this video was on fire watch for our tent in Korea, and just sat there playing his Nintendo DS as the pot belly heater caught itself on fire and began spewing diesel fumes inside the tent where we all were sleeping. We had to open the tent and get everyone out into -10 F weather.
I think Northern Territory needs to practice or enforce this over no VIP no flyzone, especially for lite aircraft and or any airline consisting of the management and ownership of Richard Branson.
it transfers very well in the civilian side, I'm currently an air traffic controller with the army. The FAA can hire you as an experience bid or you can do contract job. Its important to have a CTO.
Yes it is possible to transfer this but not everyone gets what is needed. Also you can get hired with the FAA and make 60 to 140k without joining the military the FAA has Off the street bids usually twice a year that you just need to meet some pre reqs. The only certification you want as a 15q in army is a CTO faa doesn't care about anything else and if you don't have a cto its hard to get a contract job. Also if you're looking into ATC check with the air force you'll enjoy life better and your chances of getting a cto are far greater than in the army. This job isn't for everyone I've seen people with cto from army not make it in faa. At the time joining the army as 15q was the best decision I ever made.i was a 15q ssg got out worked contract and now have worked in two top level faa facilities and still do.
SHAWN MARSH what is a pre req? I wanted to do this but have no experience. I thought the army would be a good way to get started and get experience but if I can get it without going through army even better. Do you have more info on this
If you're not a divorced alcoholic with a massive car loan, the military do all of those things for you within the first year of enlistment 😂 But seriously, endless career benefits and opportunitys if you work hard.
Having been Army ATC back in the late 80s, its nice to see that the tower equipment hasn't changed much (if at all). Go ARMY!!!!

@@marcomoreno7288you talk to planes, they talk back
@@marcomoreno7288I am also thinking about reclassing to this MOS but I’m not too sure.
I’m about to reclass from a Cav Scout to an ATCO. Just passed my flight physical. Can’t wait to not have to ruck all the damn time, or PMCS a Stryker.
Best of luck to you sir. If I was younger (I'm 52, prior service army, 1984/87) I would take up the challenge.
Again, best of luck and Godspeed.
Im a 15Q. We still ruck every week. But i guess depends where they send you. My brother was a scout by the way. Best of Luck.
How did it go?
Update?
Any update currently a scout but looking into this mos
Excellent video of the MOS. Being a controller was one of the most exciting jobs that I ever had!
b12av8 you still in the service or do you work in air traffic in the civilian world ?
Kettle Bell Kyle - I retired from the Army and have moved into a new chapter of my life and career.
@@b12av8.....thank you, for your service.
@@governorofthedeathstar1680 - It was truly my pleasure.
Could I ask you a few questions about going from the military to civilian ATC?

Sounds like he was really paying attention
