Hi! I was wondering if you ended up doing exactly what was in the video? I keep finding comments scattered across the interenet saying they did completely different things, and was just wondering if you'd say this video was an accurate representation of the mos? I read that some people just played chess with patients and spent time with them, while another person never helped patients and only filed paperwork? Just curious because this is my mos and ship out in june. It's just hard to find more information aside from this video :)

This MOS is perfect for me!! I’ve always felt that I had a calling when it comes to helping others. For many years now, I’ve been the person that everyone comes to talk to when things in their life gets tough. Even random people that I’ve just met tell me how easy it is for them to tell me their life story without feeling judged. I’m a natural empath! This is the job I’m choosing when I join!!

You should ask your recruiter about this if you ever meet with one they should have more insight. Looking at john smith's comments he seems to not like this mos in particular. Mental Health is really being prioritized by the military and I've read that MOS like this one actually need more people and are undermanned.

Unfortunately my Air Force recruiter tells me I can only go mechanical because I have a waiver for a simple drunk in public from 2013.. Funny thing is I have not drank in years haha. So that's what has lead me to now talk to an army recruiter. The air force recruiter said even if I get really high asvab scores it won't matter. He said he won't even let me take the asvab through him if I don't agree to go open mechanical and im not doing that so here I am looking into the same sort of job for the army.. @@bluerayoraphim5421 No problem man! Also sorry about your situation, as you probably know the Airfoce has the best lifestyle out of all the branches, so they get alot of applicants and usually meet their quotas. Owing to that, they're allowed to be more selective about who they choose. Also it sounds like your recruiter is trying to fill in a field low in applicants so he doesn't want to entertain anything else for you. You can wait until the field you want opens up in the DEP, but some recruiters like yours won't allow that. Good on you for sticking with what you wanted and going Army. From what I've learned you can pick your job in most other branches and are usually a guarantee to get the MOS you want there. I'm enlisting entry with a bachelors degree related to mental health specialist and a 3.5+ GPA, so I am hoping that might help. I'm also trying to score high PT and ASVAB scores. However, I do have a traffic accident where I was at fault. If my recruiter can't work with me to get this MOS I'll probably end up going Army like you.
