What a suffer fest it was! That too on big ring without any numbers guiding you! Absolutely terrific!! People who have done atleast one Nandi climb on cycle know how hard it is and will appreciate this. It is quite evident how well you know every bit of the Nandi climb! Awestruck to hear that you have 800 Nandi climbs in you legs😮🤯! What amazed me more is you are not just a number one rider, climber in the country but you also a great human being, you like to share the knowledge without feeling insecured! Just just loved this video and related with it as I have done Nandi myself atleast 8 times which is 1% of what you have done😄. On lighter note I am a big fan of this two dips at 5th km which gives some breather to amature riders like me.😄 Huge respect and big thank youti you for sharing your hard earned know how and efforts of your camera crew!! take my salute🖖🙋‍♂️🙋‍♂️ my Hero in the he world of cycling 🙏🙏🙏

So the rider @ 13:45 was me, was getting back to the base. Knew there was a KOM attempt planned by NJ that day and immediately recognised him climbing up. He looked like as if he was having a good run but 5 seconds is so so close.. Next time NJ.. Next time... The headwinds were quite harsh at the time of the day..

    Really cracking effort!!
Pacing is critical as in beginning you was way above 400w where actually you should keep it just below your threshold and by end you were struggling for 300s. Since you had been riding with power data throughout your training and today it might not be easy to pace without power data.
With correct pacing 5 second can be saved easily.

good effort bro keep it up we have climbs like this 'monal, muree,, and lots of other but you loose some watts at initial part of climb, i think you serve extra wattage on flat section before the start of proper climb. i dont know where the KOM start but less power on flat make you faster on climb and helpful for climbing and little flatter section on climb recover your body. thank you so much mate love you from PAKISTAN

NJ, nice to see such a video. Some questions:
    1) Before your trip to Belgium, you had gotten a black 8000E. What happened to that?
    2) You posted on fb about needing a new left shifter. These days, when you do your berg climbing, I'm guessing you still use your same 3 rings (21-23-25) since you ride a bit slower on non-KOM attempts..For this attempt, you were using the same 3 rings, but a) was your cadence higher b) you spent more time in the 21 than 23 or 25?
    3) If your left shifter was working, would you ride in the 39 ring and 15-18 rear rings?
You run a pretty tight cassette, few use a 11-25 in a 11sp setup. Especially up the berg. Thoughts?
    3) Given that the 1st 4km is relatively easier than the last 3km, (you mention that in your video too), when you ride solo, do you (are you) able to see your HR on the wahoo and dial down your efforts or step it up? Else, do you rely mostly on your power numbers?
    4) Would having access to the data on the Wahoo helped rather than go blind as you did?
    5) What did you reckon your slight over efforts in the initial 4km cost you, in the last 3km? About 10-15 W over 10 min (~ 15 sec)?

    • @NaveenJohn1
      @NaveenJohn1  4 роки тому +5

      Awesome Q's
      1) Lost the Scultura 8000 in a crash last year the week before Nats. I got a replacement frame from Merida India, pre-lockdown, but can't really source all the parts from Shimano to build it up in these Corona times. Soon!
      2) Cadence was only marginally higher than in training. I ended up being able to use a gear higher than in training with the KOM-day adrenaline.
      3) Ideally, I'd do this climb with a 50 ring up front and a 25-12 in the back with the FD adjusted for efficiency even while cross-chained
      4) In hindsight, this is one day that data would have been useful, not to make sure I was going hard enough, but to make sure I kept it controlled, especially with the heightened adrenaline with the camera/friends/support there that wasn't there in training/prep
      5) I won't speculate; I'll just have to try again, pace it well next time, and find out :)
