Finally the long overdue KOM hunting episode is here... I spoke about doing this way back in episode 2 and I've finally got around to filming it.
For those that dont know, KOM stands for "king of the mountain" and on strava (the cycle ride tracking app) there are things called segments! Cyclists battle it out to see who is the fastest on any given section of road... Let's see how I fair against the locals!
So its quite a simple idea behind this episode, I'm basically trying to get as many strava KOM segments as possible in one ride. As you will see, I didnt quite pick the best conditions for it... BUT! I persisted and got through the ride... I set myself a challenge to try and get 10, but how many did I get though? The Hunt is on!!!
Blasting around, dropping watt bombs, riding my bike full gas, making frenemies, pedalling till I can't pedal anymore... It's a fun packed, fast paced episode, which I dont think I will be doing again for a while. Its been weeks since I filmed this one and I don't think I'm still fully recovered! Haha!

If a segment has a negative gradient then it won’t show up on the Garmin/Wahoo even if you have starred it.

Hiya, how do you see if there is a KOM. though I love in a remote island so I’m not sure if there are any
KOMs are so environmental dependent (wind) and how you feel that day, and how much you have left after or during a ride.

one thing to note about live segments is they won't show if the segment has a negative overall gradient. basicaly to stop people looking at their headunit when going fast down hill

@@TheCyclingTattooist yea especialy when you don't know the segment. trying to count how many streets you've passed while in the red is not easy 😆😆

Wait… M stands for mountain, but the segments are flat or downhill, around 1 minute long, and average speed is 42-60 km/hr…? I think of 10-90 minutes of 7-12% with speeds under 25 km/hr. Nice sprint workout on an early morning around a neighbourhood though - 10 zone 6-7 efforts is no mean feat 👍
Wow those are some really poorly created strava segments. Through stoplights.. around blind corners ... Ending right at a dead end 😂😮. Nice work. For me, if i can get one KOM on a ride, its a big day

When you star ⭐️ a segment on Strava and it is a downhill segment it doesn’t go to your garmin.
