It was written specifically for the 1996 Romeo + Juliet movie but they liked it enough to include it on OK Computer. The build up from start to finish is amazing.
I know the lyric you were gonna bring up La… ”Pack and get dressed, before your father hears us, before all hell breaks loose”. Shits poetry…what a picture he paints!
Thom York has always been their lead singer, it's just that his falsetto is so clear and pretty that it's easy to understand why you might think a female sings on some of their songs, but no, it's all Thom and the other guys in the band. ❤✌
This album is their Masterpiece, a work of art that will transcend the band. Considered by most one of the best albums from the 90's and without a doubt in the top 100 rock albums of all time. This is where they crossed the line from very good band with potential to grabbing the Crown and becoming Legends.
@@Fred_Clements Well, objectively you can't call it THE masterpiece since you haven't listened to all albums ever made to make such a bold statement lol. Also, an opinion is always subjective, that includes yours.
Ah finally Radiohead the closest thing we have to the Beatles since they broke up. None of their albums sound alike just like the last 5-6 Beatles albums, they hate to repeat themselves. They are one of the most critically acclaimed bands in music history and that includes Jazz and Classical of which there are hundreds of great covers. While this is my third favorite Radiohead album it's still a great album and is in the top 20 for greatest albums in almost any music publication.
Absolutely haunting. And the editing/production is so interesting. Yeah, you guys need to do this whole record. And Fake Plastic Trees off of The Bends.
Radiohead, is without a doubt top 5 best bands of ALL-TIME. With a least 3 classic albums: OK COMPUTER, IN RAINBOWS, KID A.. you can also throw THE BENDS into the mix. Top-tier type tunes
The whole album is a masterpiece. Honestly, it is one of the greatest pieces of music ever made and will stand the test of time. Nobody captures the unique beauty of sadness like Radiohead.
This one hits different when you know Thom wrote this for the credits of Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo and Juliet from the late 90s. My man is literally singing Shakespeare
Hey y'll should react to Radiohead's "From The Basement" series which are live in studio recordings that they did two of their albums "In Rainbows" and "King of Limbs" for clarity's sake just so you know they aren't the actual albums but live in studio performances of each album with a couple extras. Out of the two i prefer "King of Limbs" which was reviewed as maybe their worst album BUT the live in studio performances from In the Basement gave the tracks a life and vibrance they did not have on the actual album. My theory is they where experimenting with electronic looping and drum tracks that made the music sound too artificial.
In fact, personally, I feel every album barring Pablo Honey and perhaps TKOL are masterpieces. But I am a proper obsessive who’s followed them since seeing them live in a small venue in 1992 and they are easily my favourite band/artists of all time - musically, lyrically, emotionally.. their themes and artwork. Everything.
You almost have to listen to the album from start to finish to really be able to appreciate the artistry that is there. They don’t do “light” easy listening tunes.
Every album has its own brilliance. But if you want to fall in love with them, this album and "in rainbows“ especially are perfect .or watch anything from the basement sessions where you can really see their musicianship.
So excited for you guys to get into Radiohead. You guys will love the journey down the rabbit hole. Like Pink Floyd meets Jay Z and Rush and with a little Beatles thrown in there. Unexplainable but brilliant. Each song a blank canvas for audio art. Turn-Up!!!!!!
Having grown up in the 1970s, with some of the most creative music and rock artists from the 60s and 70s, who shifted the music paradigm, i have long felt that there are few bands or musicians after those two decades who have had a similar impact. But, there are a few, and Radiohead is definitely one of those great bands that can stand equal with those earlier great bands. I don’t know of a bad Radiohead album, but I suggest this one, OK Computer, and their album titled Kid A. Deep dive, start to finish. Complete fire. Also great is their “In Rainbows-From the Basement”, an intimate live performance of the album that was re-released on UA-cam in 2020, which helped us make it through the pandemic. Incredible.
Hey guys, I love your reactions! For OKComputer consider listening to the albums from the start to the finish in order. Especially the first half. The songs work so well as a blended whole that I think you’ll be even more amazed listening to how they build the entire piece up one song after the next. Either way, though, y’all minds about to be blown. Keep up the great work!!! Peace, S.
You guys should seriously react to this record, it's Darkside, Aja, Pet Sounds, The White Album, it's one of those all time albums. They way all the songs flow together and the mind space it puts you in really necessitate a needle drop, headphones, and no plans for a bit.
I always feel like I'm floating in or on 'wooder' whenever or wherever I am when I hear songs from this record. Thanks guys, for helping me recuperate from eye surgery. Nice job as always 👏🏼and my grandmother saw the Philadelphia A's win the 1911 World Series on her friend's rooftop across from Shibe Park in North Philly when she was 8 years old. Take care 🙂
The intentional "low Fi" sounds after the drums and keyboards are so gritty and stark in contrast to the predominately acoustic guitar and vocals that precede it. Just a great production.
YES on the entire album!!! This is a song for those who are patient. Once those drums kick in and Thom's vocals explode it's beyond magic! One of my very favorite tunes of theirs. At some point listen to Pyramid Song, for a truly weird psychedelic experience.
This album is a masterpiece. Radiohead, Thom Yorke, The Smile is some of the greatest music produced since Pink Floyd & Zeppelin. Thom Yorke is one of the greatest singer songwriters of our generation.
Great reaction. I strongly recommend you do the in Rainbows album by Radiohead. Or better yet in rainbows live in the basement. It's a studio live concert. My favorite Radiohead album performed impecable
This takes me back to being a kid in the 90s, listening to my big sister's CDs. It seems a little dystopian, the 90s, looking back. But still, things were better then.
The Basement Tapes show them playing a collection of great songs live in a basement (no audience) - sick performances. Should also be on the list to hit up in addition to some album reviews.
Great reaction guys. Please do a whole album reaction to OK Computer - it's a masterpiece. This song is hauntingly beautiful. Paranoid Android is my favourite off this album. There is no woman singer in Radiohead...are you perhaps thinking of Portishead (i.e. Glory Box)?
Guys, you have to start with the album before, "The Bends", itself a brilliant indie rock album. Then, watch their progress to "OK Computer". After that, "In Rainbows" is just stunning.
They have 4 perfect albums - ok computer - kid A - in rainbows - and a moon shaped pool - yet they are all completely different musically from Each other … most important rock band in the last 50 years
Radiohead makes great albums, not just singles, albums. The Bends, OK Computer, Hail to the Thief, Kid A, and In Rainbows are all amazing albums. King of Limbs is a bit more experimental (experimental for RH) but Lotus Flowers is a great single and Codex is so gorgeous. Thom Yorke is a man, but his voice is angelic.
Most will mention the singer Thom Yorke but the multi instrumentalist Jonny Greenwood and his brother Colin (bass player) are the reason I started playing music. First album is meh but dive into this bands discography starting with their second album the Bends. Radiohead is the Beatles for our generation and Jonny is my hero.
God I love this song ... Forget Greatest hits , you really should do the album. We all were blown away by "The Bends" and thought it one of the best albums ever and then they followed up with this !! One of the greatest one-two punches ever !
There’s no woman singer, just Thom Yorke, but this album is a masterpiece. You should definitely do a deeper dive on this group.
I think they're thinking of Portishead.
Totally and utterly agree. This album is a mind blower, and there are many others too.
They might have been thinking of the sampled choir that's played on synths. Technically still thom since I'm pretty sure the samples are his voice
@@Jeremy-hx7zjeither that or Beth Gibbons from Portishead lol
Easily one of the best and most important albums of all-time.
The whole album is a masterpiece
Pretty much everything that they do is
Got me crying and shit that’s how perfect
This shit hits you in a place in your body you never knew existed
@@goolah13 imagine they make a movie for them like they did for Queen
My ear goes automatically to the next song at the end of this and it’s soooo gooooood
Radiohead’s definitely in my top rankings for bands. Another one my major groups growing up.
Something about people discovering and enjoying the same music I love gives me life.
His voice grabs you on this track if you don't have this on vinyl GET IT
radiohead is one of the best bands of all time. their second album, the bends, is also a perfect album, much more guitar heavy.
Agreed. I think the bends is flawless
genuinely one of the best albums I’ve ever heard. there’s a reason why they’re as loved by critics as they are by fans!
glad you gave them a listen. their catalog is extensive and they have soooo many good songs its unreal
It was written specifically for the 1996 Romeo + Juliet movie but they liked it enough to include it on OK Computer.
The build up from start to finish is amazing.
I like to think it turned a generation of teenage girls who bought the soundtrack because of Leo onto experimental alternative rock! Lol.
I know the lyric you were gonna bring up La…
”Pack and get dressed, before your father hears us, before all hell breaks loose”.
Shits poetry…what a picture he paints!
Yup that’s the one
Thom York has always been their lead singer, it's just that his falsetto is so clear and pretty that it's easy to understand why you might think a female sings on some of their songs, but no, it's all Thom and the other guys in the band. ❤✌
Radiohead is amazing......the Rabbit hole changed my musical life as a musician.
Great group, fantastic album.
First time hearing this. Excellent reaction, fellas 😊❤👏🙏
‘They turned up like a vegetable.’
I think we’ve all felt that from time to time.
Lettuce pray.
This whole album and their album "in rainbows" are incredible

In Rainbows is my favorite, but yes this is a masterpiece
This album is THE masterpiece

Saw them live and when they played this the crowd was silent and in awe until erupting when it finished. Chills.
Bringing me back to 97 and high school and I'm here for it. 🎉❤ one of the best albums ever
