Phylicia Rashad is the best actress in the history of television; she has it all: class, tact, humor, understanding, timing, versatility, beauty, and all around rhythm concerning whatever role she plays... plus she never over-acts her part in whatever roles she has, which is key; she allows her role to be the star instead of herself which elevates her ability as a performer.
@@CTForrester I never heard of this show until recently and I binge watched all four seasons. And I love it. I didn't even know he did another show after the Cosby show which is one of my fave shows. Omg this show is so funny. Lol
I like this show 'Cosby' even a little more than the other show because it was casual, cool, smooth, and didn't try too hard with great messages. Both of these women are great actresses... this was such a veteran cast and I wish this series could have lasted longer.
You welcome. If you have more shows please post them as you are able. I remember episodes about when Hilton found an old friend that was homeless or the one earlier in the series when the social security office thought he was dead and they had the butcher wanting to marry Ruth. I think there was one where it was like 1997 when Erica and Griff' moved in and they gave the last yohoo to Phil Burt (?) who was someone who called the flower shop that they turned into a coffee place. I loved that show. Plus they did a great job showing the transition of Hilton Lucas working for the airlines going into retirement and two bright young people (Erica/Griffin) leaving lucrative careers in law (Erica) and producing music (Griffin) to become teachers. With this show you see how family is about people who love and take care of you - which is why earlier Hilton would ask Pauline if she loved him after Pauline would exit saying she loved Ruth.
YES! Brilliant. They disappeared from public view when the news about BC hit. Amazon video is now showing them again (free if you watch commercials or a charge for no commercials) for which I'm grateful. I bought copies of the entire series from a private collector. It really is an outstanding series. I plan to post more when time frees up with other Madeline Kahn-related works after I clean them up ("Anyone Can Whistle" is practically unwatchable. Some blurry clips can be seen here on UA-cam).
Madeline Gail Kahn (born Madeline Gail Wolfson; September 29, 1942 - December 3, 1999) was an American actress, comedian, voice actress, and singer, known for comedic roles in films directed by Peter Bogdanovich and Mel Brooks, including What's Up, Doc? (1972), Young Frankenstein (1974), High Anxiety (1977), History of the World, Part I (1981), and her Academy Award-nominated roles in Paper Moon (1973) and Blazing Saddles (1974). Kahn made her Broadway debut in Leonard Sillman's New Faces of 1968, and received Tony Award nominations for the play In the Boom Boom Room in 1974 and for the original production of the musical On the Twentieth Century in 1978. She starred as Madeline Wayne on the short-lived ABC sitcom Oh Madeline (1983-84) and won a Daytime Emmy Award in 1987 for ABC Afterschool Special. She received a third Tony Award nomination for the revival of the play Born Yesterday in 1989, before winning the 1993 Tony Award for Best Actress in a Play for the comedy The Sisters Rosensweig. Her other film appearances included The Cheap Detective (1978), City Heat (1984), Clue (1985), and Nixon (1995).
No site that I know of. I bought the whole series off someone who had recorded them when broadcast on tv. I really need to get on them and edit out the commercials like I did for this clip.
@reginasmith9014 Thanks for th great questions! Barney is an unseen boyfriend of Madeline Kahn's character, Pauline, for this one episode (Valentine's Day). She waits by the phone for him to call, all day, finally leaving for the Jeffrey Osborne concert. I can't tell, but it looks like her singing was impromptu by everyone else's faces 😃
freda0723 Nope, she was Mrs. Huxtable on The Cosby Show. After that went off the air, there was another series called Cosby and she came back to play his wife as Hilton and Ruth Lucas. He was an airline employee who was laid off which leads to the conversation above. He's driving his wife crazy since he's with her all the time. Ruth Lucas owns a flower shop with her friend Pauline, played by the also lovely Madeline Kahn.
"Pauline, is that a Picasso?" - while looking at her own reflection in a mirror. "That's a mirror dear, I think it's time to call a cab" . Lolzzz
Lol.
wats a picasso?

I adore Madeline Kahn. She and Phylicia are delightful in this scene. Thank you so much for posting.
I loved their chemistry. They were so funny together. It's like they been friends all their life.
I agree. I know there was a great deal of love there.

Truth be told, "Cosby" did get a little message-heavy starting in season three and especially in season four, but overall I prefer it as well.
@@CTForrester THANK YOU!
