Iam a midterm class of '66 graduate of Jack Yates H.S. I remember Phylicia as a majorette in the marching band. I've followed her career and very proud of her accomplishments. I didn't take class from Mrs. Wheadon, but there were other teachers just Mrs. Wheadon who prodded their students to be your best. I'm very proud to have been a student, at that school, during that time. P.S. I knew Major Stevenson quite well!

This is what's missing today, teachers and students who are dedicated, especially in the black community. I LOVE PHYLICIA RASHAD!

Phylicia Rashad has the same impact on me as Mrs. Wheadon had on her. I understand where she's coming from. Excellent Interview

Awesome testimony to the power of an effective teacher/mentor. It's great the teacher was able to live and see the outcome of Rashad.

She taught her how to think not just how to recite what was given to her...critical thinking...

I love Mrs. Phylicia Rashad so much! She looks and acts like my mom & older sister; the 2 women I admire : ) I also respect Black educators to the fullest; they always stay on Black students. They're like second parents :-)
