The 3-car 150s are much more common now since northern have recently created more by inserting 150/2 ends into 150/1s. You can see this at 03:15 since the cabs are still present in the middle with yellow ends! Thanks Stuart!
The only trains I like is the Northern Class 331 and TransPennine Express Class 397 Nova 2. That both units were built by CAF. As well the Northern Class 195.
Nice to see my old haunts represented here. So many memories of almost crowdsurfing the commuters on platform 3 at 7:30am, throwing up on platform 1 at 4:30am (after a particularly rowdy night out in Manchester). Great station that has suffered from being cut out of the WCML, which is understandable I guess.
Epic start to the year. Its great to see Northern being resourceful of converting their class 150's into 150/0 3 carriage units. Sadly, Northern did sacrifice their class 153's. Strange for Transpennine Express now running via Bolton? All the best for 2022 :-)
Remember the Class 331s such as the ones in this video have the fast acceleration in the UK. You can see how they get up to speed in no time at all. Gotta move fast! Also you apparently caught one of the elusive 3-car Class 150s
Note also the class 755 in electric mode can accelerate as fast as the class 331 - 1.3m/s. So technically the 331's are joint fastest :) (Takes his railway geek hat off now)
Yes you might want to record one more time at at a South western railway station like Clapham Junction as the class 455 442 707 and 483 are retiring so I done the same before the 701s arrive
The 455s still have time on SWR. Not even one 701 has been signed off for driver training so there doesn’t seem like much hope for a full replacement by the end of this year. I take your point though, I had planned to film at Clapham when both fleets were in use but it seems that the 456s will go first now. Thanks Mohid 😃
It's not all that bad! In my experience the town centre is pretty safe, but I did leave Bolton nearly a decade ago so I don't know. As long as Mr Starlife doesn't visit Bradshawgate at 1am, I'd say chances of being stabbed are at a minimal
@@hdng1984 ive been chased through spa road to the centre near deansgate with bad intentions. it was at the night though so obviously crime happens most there. since the past 3 years id say levels of crime has pretty much doubled alongside drug usage as they are probably on every corner. obviously not the whole of bolton is dangerous (ainsworth, kearsly, hulton and BL6) yet if you look at the top 3 articles of the bolton news its guaranteed something about crime. but i agree it isnt all that bad
@@btdjl oof that's horrible. After nights out we used to walk home that way (sometimes even through Queens Park) but no way in hell would I even go close to that area at that time now. I remember Heaton used to be pretty safe when I was growing up but even now it's deteriorated. Sad how the town had gone to sh!t now.
This day will forever be remembered for two things. Obviously, the twentieth anniversary of the terrorist attacks in New York and a teenage tennis sensation winning a Grand Slam title in the same city. So Bolton in Lancashire. There is a famous football team called Bolton Wanderers that played in the Premier League many times. Played at Wembley in 1995 when they beat Reading in a final I think. This was before Wembley Stadium was redeveloped. During New Year period, I was at Liverpool Street to see the Class 745 train bound for Norwich, departing from platform thirteen which is usually Great Eastern suburban services to say Southend, Colchester, Ipswich and local services including Shenfield. I am hoping to go to the Norfolk capital on a Saturday in February. I then boarded a suburban train that went to Hertford East, another place I will visit later in the year. I have been there before roughly three years earlier.
2022 is underway. Still love the intro music. It's annoying that these places have powerlines yet diesels are still used. I know some lines would go into the countryside....BUT BUILD 100% SUSTAINABLE POWER LINES....NOT HARD (but a bit expensive)
Thanks Inky Squid 😃 150s have always been the main traction here and although the 331s are better, I absolutely agree with you. There are far too many unelectrified branch lines in the UK which end at stations with overhead lines.
@@StarlifeStudios imagine if you could stick solar panels on roofs. Or little wind impeller turbines on the side of a train. No branch line would be diesel and all 100% sustainable. If not, power lines with solar panels and turbines every so often. Makes sense so no power stations are needed to supply the trains, and it's more eco friendly and cheaper in the long term
Uploads will remain Sundays onwards, since New Years and Christmas day were on Saturdays, I felt that it would be more appropriate to release on those days. Next weeks video will be on Sunday as normal 😃 Thanks Lord Everything!
Pretty much yes. This is the same arrangement which Central Trains used on the Birmingham Snow Hill lines in 1999 to produce 19 3-car sets. Thanks Bowler :)

I've been on a 5 car 150, idk how GWR did it, but they did it
Ive been on it. Its the Rochdale to Clitharoe line only via Bolton. Im guessing its the class 150/9. Its a cool train ngl.
@@greatwesternrailway8742 not quite, it's the 150/0
@@greatwesternrailway8742 I thought this would be the Real GWR. I was confused like:
Good for…… new year. Here in America we have arrived. I watched the firework show it was awesome. I also liked that singing group
Cracking film bud, never given Bolton much of a thought before but I'm very much considering giving this station a go.
Thanks Jarred! This was my first time here but I was glad to catch some 397s. The 331s get a little repetitive but still a good station overall. 😃

Great video as always.
We gunna ignore the cheeky class 43 at the end there :)
Good timing is all I can say there 😃
