I have a solution to the channel 1 & 2 issue in Logic Pro. Step 1: create an aggregate device in Audio Midi Setup. Step 2: Select your system speakers as the first device. Step 3: Select the Big Sig as the second device. This will shift the outputs of the Big Sig by two channels freeing up channels 1 & 2. Finally, in Logic rename the inputs and outputs using the I/O Labels tool so that you don't get confused. Works perfectly.
Hey Ponchy, great video on a great mixer! Also, thank you for all the videos of the A4! It seems you're one of a handful still putting out new content for one of the greatest synths ever.
I’m having a hard time trying to use the bounce fonction, in Logic pro, with the Big SIX. I just want to bounce my tracks through the G Comp - but I don’t want to print in Logic Pro first. I want to bounce out through the G Comp. And so far, only printing is working. Which is weird since I’m pretty sure I managed my routings correctly (using an aggregate and routing all my tracks to 15/16 outs, etc). Any idea, oh mighty Ponchy?
Just picked an ssl big up. Question: first 4/superanalogue channels gain knobs don’t do anything during mixing/from usb. Every other channels gain knobs do ie 5-12 Is this a fault in my machine?
Hi ponchy ! I leave in Lexington ky and I have a mixer bigsix solid state logic but I don’t know how to set up do you have any idea help me to do that please ! Thank you so much
Because I can’t explain to you ,if you leave in Lexington can you come over to my house set up for me, I will pay time work for you, if not in Lexington what can you help me , can you have a idea something help me please ! Thank you so much
awesome video, what i been looking for! Yes please if you can make a video integrating outboard gear for the stereo channel! would be helpful! Thank you
The manual says:It's worth noting that a quirk of Logic Pro is that the 'Stereo Output' routing is 'attached' to Logic's outputs 1 and 2. This can be changed in Logic's PREFERENCES/AUDIO/IO ASSIGNMENTS menu, however changing the default stereo output (for example to 15/16), doesn't release outputs 1 & 2 to be discretely routed from the DAW paths. This can be resolved in Logic by creating an Aggregate Device in OSx. An internet search for "Logic Pro - Changing stereo output from 1-2" should discover some suggested solutions and further discussion of the issue.
Great video! I recently purchased the Big Six to be the center piece of my project studio. I am a beginner at both Logic Pro and Ableton. Knowing what you know now, do you prefer using the Big Six with Logic or Ableton?
Thank you! I may be a bit biased but I prefer using it with Logic Pro but that's mostly because I primarily use Logic. In a sense though, the way that I use it with either daw is pretty much the same though it is a bit easier to set it up on Ableton for going back and forth between tracking and summing.
@@Ponchy Thank you! I spent some time running through different routing scenarios in Ableton and I found it easier to set up. I I'm going to stick with Ableton for the time being. One thing I noticed with the Big Six as opposed to my UAD Apollo, is that the Big Six will adjust the input from USB 15/16 if the system sound on Mac is decreased. One thing I liked about the Apollo is that it locked the system sound at unity gain. With the Big Six this adds another variable to remember to adjust; the system sound level. Do you know if this setting can be changed?
@@Ponchy please let us know if you ever figure out a more permanent solution to the track 1 & 2 issues in Logic. I’d love to spend more time learning Logic but that limitation would annoy me. By the way, I discovered another surprising limitation with Logic. It turns out it can only send midi click and transport controls out but not in. For example, I wanted to use my Digitakt as the midi master to send tempo and transport controls to Logic. It’s not possible. This works in Ableton.
Thanks Ponchy! That was a great tutorial, I watched it several times and I’m loving my new setup. I just wish we can utilize both stereo cues simultaneously.
Thanks for all the videos on Elektron and now the Bigsix! Great stuff.. Question/I had no idea you could Use make up gain for volume I usually have my main set at zero and mix into it.. But when your summing do you then have all your faders set to zero and the main fader can remain low? So you can use compression make up gain for volume? I understand that if its getting mastered you leave plenty of headroom.. But maybe I shouldn't have my main set to zero. EDIT: Ok I watched the very end now.. Ha ha yeah it ok I have it at zero should have trusted myself!

Thank you and glad to help! I definitely love the A4 and just tried to make some vids for things that I hadn't seen on UA-cam yet.
BIG THANKS from Japan🇯🇵
It would be dope if you could do a 101 BigSix video - pluging it, updating the previous videos with the aggregate device technique, etc

Thanks very much for this tutorial. Very useful.
No prob! Glad to help.

Very cool Ponchy. I remember you. Let me sub to all ur vids.
I appreciate that!

I would love to see one on Ableton please. I still didn't figure out how to use plugin fx on the st.cues. I know it should be possible somehow
Thank you for this video Ponchy. Liked and Sub’d. Can you utilize the Stereo Cues for outboard processing gear like reverb or delay unit?
Glad to help! And yes you definitely can!

i think it's a good sequencer for audio routing
👍

anyway, thx a lot for this video
Glad to help!
okay for ableton setup 😬
Will do!
Why are you digital bussing instead of just bussing analog, digital bussing is a digital version of summing, keep the summing analog.
