What a delight. Bruce Cockburn and I journeyed across Canada together in 1979 on my way from Victoria BC to Kingston and Queens. He was on my cassette player in the 1968 Corvette yellow VW I was driving. In 1976 or thereabouts we met face to face at the Vancouver Folk Festival when it was held at Stanley Park: I was so star struck I sounded more than usually moronic. At Queens University he played a concert in Grant Hall and I sent him a note at half time which made reference to his astonishing song lyric from “Lament for the Last Days” (where the “chalice of light” comes from). After the break he came out and sang it. I was dumbstruck and shared that love. It is no exaggeration to say that his music and lyrics have marked my whole life and made it immeasurably richer. In England, in Scotland, in France and in South Africa and now here in Australia. We are amigos but he doesn’t know it (yet). United in travel and time and life and loss and the rim of the shining cup. Thank you my dear friend Bruce; we are unknown only due to time: eternity will sort that out.
He has touched all our lives in each unique way and now this technology has brought some of us together. Let's make sure that when the rose above the sky opens and the Light behind the sun takes all we are there. Yahshua JESUS
My personal favorite recording artist. I had the pleasure of meeting Bruce numerous times over the years. He is one heck of a human being. I did a portrait of Bruce some odd years ago and had Bruce autograph the painting when I saw him in Madison, WI. Roughly about a year later I saw him again in Milwaukee, WI where I gave him a print of the painting. He genuinely seemed pleased, or I certainly hope he was. It remains a mainstay in our home now. It is my most prized possession and will always be. I get to see him again this coming Nov. 2023 in Milwaukee once again. Can't wait!!!
Been a fan for over forty years, I have many ticket stubs from concerts back to the 80s. His mastery of the acoustic guitar still just boggles my mind. My all time favorite music artist.
I just finished Bruce Cockburn's amazing autobiography, 'Rumours of Glory'. What a life of such an astoundingly insightful soul. And, yes, I too have been a fan for many years while living, travelling and working through several continents, myself. This music, its notations and lyrics have always touched my soul, as well. Thank you, Bruce
Bruce Cockburn; this won't reach you but you are my favorite poet, singer/songwriter, and guitarist in the whole world over. Thank you for the music, and for getting us through these crazy bardo times as long as you've been sharing your music with us. Thank you @westernmaryland1928 for posting this concert
I love, love, LOVE listening to you!!! I love how you play, how you sing.... You are one of the best song writers I've ever heard. I've followed you since the early 80's. You are energy with grace old soul. Namaste
Thank you so much for posting this amazing concert!! Got to see Bruce at the Northern Lights Festival in Sudbury (Canada) many years ago and he never disappoints!!! ❤❤❤
Beautiful set. Met Jon picking cherries in southern BC a few years ago. Talking about music he was very humble, so it's awesome to see it on here. Sounding really great fellas. Cheers.
I saw Bruce and band in 2018 and he was par excellence per usual. This particular show is a notch above that...wonderful. Seeing him with his nephew is a real treat! Thanks so much for posting!
Met Bruce October 2019 he had a cane to assist him he put on a good show Niagara region! We had brief chat and someone took our picture together! He seemed smaller than when seen him perform decades before..and of course much older! In his 70s likely struggling yet still touring even with the onset of arthritis! Was a good experience 😌!As I've been a fan of sorts since a teen bought all his albums cds dvds whatever!I was introduced to his music by a friend Dancing Dragons Jaws around time it came out and while driving i always played it over and over the album seemed to be one I enjoyed playing a lot back then!So went to buy all the rest!
Thanks for posting. I was at this show and I’ve got “World of Wonders” from a different angle on my channel. I’m still kicking myself for not sticking around for an autograph; how was I to know the world was going to shut down just a few months later.
Hi Martin, you are welcome, it was a great show. I also have another Cockburn show on youtube at the Birchmere, in 4 parts however. I need to merge all the videos together to make one long concert, one day. It was a sad drive home for us that night, as the Nationals on the radio were losing game 5 of the World Series in DC. But they won it the WS with game 6 & 7. Our last concert before Covid was for Schooner Fare of Maine and Buskin and Batteau on January 4, 2020. I have those on youtube also. Best MM
@@westernmaryland1928 I was in town on travel; I left DC when the Nats were still in Montreal, so I’m a Cardinals fan. Nice that they won for my friends still in DC. My last show before the pandemic was Steve Hackett at the Warner (also while on business travel) two shows before he had to cancel the tour. Glad to see that Cockburn is touring again, sporting the Father Time look.
@@martincox9691 Hi Martin, thanks for the reply. Glad you to hear that you did live in DC at one time and still have friends here. I am of the age of the Senators, as the Frank Howard family are friends, long story. St. Louis has great fans. Warner is a great place too to see a concert. Best Mike

I saw Bruce in 2016 on my 60th birthday, he signed my guitar. Concert blew me away, best day of thousands. Bought his collection and played it over 12 hours driving to New Brunswick... another great day! Bruce n me

your welcome, as he never knew. This was done with a small canon powershot camera as all of my concert videos are done that way. The camera just sits on the table, angled upward. No one sees it. ua-cam.com/video/4XuuEj81Gjw/v-deo.html I have this of Bruce in 4 parts. Same table. I need to merge all 4 parts together for one long video.
Thanks Luke, as it was! So much is going on. We missed Richard this year at Jammin Java, as October is our annual trip to Maine. But we saw Tracy Grammer. Bruce's new CD is outstanding. Funny, I was talking to a neighbor, last week, he was at the Ron Sexsmith concert at JJ years ago that we were at. Ron has been quiet lately.

I produced many shows with Bruce in Montana over the years and he was the kindest, most wonderful soul you could imagine. Musically, you already know.

What a tonic for my soul on these dark home-bound days! Love it.
