As a child I'd don a bobble woolly hat and watch the show when it was on at lunchtime weekdays, or if I was allowed to stay home from school sick or if Mum let me stay home after lunchtime from Primary School....thems the days! Mum used to call me Pootle an all!
I bought a video in a charity shop , for 50p ..all the episodes..bargain..anyway, this is the best episode..i watched it whilst tripping once, and had laff at the umpty song...lol
There's probably a good reason it says "gay" as Gay Soper was the narrator of this fabulous 70's children's series. Poor Perkin! It's not nice to be "umpty"!
My cousin and I were playing on Xbox, and we got into an argument. He tried to call me overweight, or fat, and instead stutters and calls me Flumpy. And from then on, my name on everything is Flumpy. Let it be Loyal Flumpy, iiFlump, FlumpTheWorld, anything. I also use it as a verb to describe raunchy things like "I would flump all over that girls chest." and "Flump YEAH!"
The DVD release is poor quality - really washed out colours and wobbly jumpy film. This is far better (apart from UA-cam fuzziness!). My kids think this story is great - Thank you!
This button moon, pidgeon street, rainbow, why don't you, wombles, aand many many more programmes watched on a black and white tv that you had to physically tune to get one of the only 3 tv channels

I disliked this as a child. To me it was meaningless and emotionless to a point that it seemed sterile. In summary, the smell of a packet of dry roasted peanuts had the equivalent character. I can't be the only one. And I don't care if you disagree
This simply made me cry. I associate this particular episode with my Grandma - remember so vividly watching it with her as a small child.
Suddenly, I'm a 7yr old, school-skiving little sod again. They need to bring this back, with Jane Horrocks doing the voices.

Pretty much The Flumps was a family of Hairy Yorkshire testicles which wore hats and had kind of mundane adventures in an allotment.
