It's hard for me to stay up late enough to watch Seth, which makes me very sad. My elderly mother is the same. A Closer Look is seriously one of her favorite things in the entire universe. I truly appreciate being able to send her the link every night so she doesn't have to make herself take a nap around this time so she can make herself stay up late to watch. She's almost 79 and has some health issues so she needs her rest. This UA-cam channel is helping me stay sane. Seth Meyers is the spoonful of sugar that makes current events easier to deal with.

This misunderstanding is frustrating. It is only 23% at the highest (in a presidential election year) of Americans who are voting Republican.
At this point most Americans seem to treat elections like a team sport. They vote by the color of the jersey, not because of competence or policy proposals.
A news commentator mentioned the Speaker election was “difficult due to the diversity of the Republican Caucus.” Yes, so diverse: almost all white men with political leanings from right wing to completely authoritarian (looking at you, Gym Jordan).

I think the fact that being speaker means you’d have to turn up for work, is probably the main reason trump doesn’t want the job.
The current rules of the House state that someone under indictment for a felony cannot be Speaker. Trump has been indicted in 4 cases with 91 felonies. And the House can’t change that rule until they have a Speaker.

For state-wide races, it becomes obvious that a majority of the voters is in favor of Democratic candidates.

Correction: the Speaker of the House isn't 3rd in line to the presidency, they're second. The President isn't in line, they already have the job. The VP is first in line, and the speaker is behind them.
