Yeah Salmon die after spawning, they don't eat much and it takes a lot out of them given that they have to hurl themselves upstream, they literally give it their all to make it. And indeed Lonesome Cuthbert is a riff on Lonesome George, the last known Pinta Island tortoise and a symbol for the Galapagos Islands, he died in 2012 at the age of 101/102 (since his birthday is never known just that it was circa 1910), we was taxidermied and put on display. All attempts at mating him were largely unsuccessful, with the eggs all being inviable before hatching.
This is definitely one of my favorite episodes of Futurama 😂 I love that they did a nature documentary episode with everyone being different animals in each story. I hope that they will make another nature documentary episode of Futurama 🙏 there are so many different animals that they can follow and portray that would make for good comedy and story telling.
Great reaction! About the salmon, as I remember they actually rot as they struggle to swim up the stream so they aren't particularly good eating when they are fully dead!
Honestly while this was sorta cute & entertaining on first watch I don’t find it that fun on rewatch so part of me would have preferred what you guessed the episode was about.

This is also one of my favorites, they got creative with this one
13:46 yes, agreed
Wow the crew look cool as animals
For some reason, whenever Comedy Central does a Futurama marathon, I always seem to catch it on this episode
Great reaction!

I can't believe Eric forgot Scruffy's name. He's the most memorable character on the show!
The elephant seal is kiff and the female seal is amy
3:10 Bender with Amy
I don't know why but I'm a big fan of the elephant seal one.
Mom's name is Carol
Nice documentary video Eric, AND question next friday are you going to react to Hazbin Hotel?
