Some on the coldest days in that stadium, warmest feelings ever! #17 fan for life. All around #1 leader of the best team ever! Monday nite against Dallas Yaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!
10,000 views and only 160 likes??? Brian deserves better than that ~ come on Browns fans!!! I had no idea he did that RV trip and visited those Browns backers back in ‘95
This clip/interview is 5 years old ... wish I'd seen this sooner (2024) but I had truly become a fan of my hometown Browns because of Sipe's arrival (I forgot they were 9-5? in 1976? ) and that MNF game in 1979 against America's Team the Dallas Cowboys. I was in 7th grade and my English teacher (also the baseball coach) spent most of the period talking about how BIG a game it was for the Browns. Browns won that game 26-7.
As a lifelong Brown's fan at age 68, I loved Brian Sipe and the years he played in Cleveland. I saw him play against the Baltimore Colts in Cleveland and won. I have priceless memories of those Browns that I will take to my grave.
Thanks, Jim! Brian Sipe was our home town hero and the Kardiac Kids were OUR team. On a bitterly cold January day, I was working in a local grocery store and the manager knew I was the only Browns fan, so he assigned me to clean produce, because there was a TV in that area. I don't know if I washed any produce, but I watched every minute of that game. All Browns fans watched and waited and hoped for a last minute victory. We all know the story of Red Right 88 (kids, look it up, but I warn you, it wasn't pretty) and that was that. I will never forget the pride of seeing our Browns in the playoffs for the first time in my memory. Thank you, Brian and thank you Kardiac Kids!
my very 1st "Fav'NFLer" so to speak!!!.....as I was born n 1970 and dad was a BROWNS fan ...by the time "Cardiac Kids " was hittin'; I was a BROWNie somewhat and soon after being so young; SIPE was my fav' player then & I was a BROWNie for LIFE
Every time I watch this I shed tears, both of happiness and of agony. That team brought out the height of both powerful emotions. Brian Sipe somehow embodies all of that and is an example of why we love this football team. Fiercely competitive and honorable in defeat. Thanks for a great interview Jim, and thank you Brian for making our memories so intense and special.
I met Brian Sipes Father in Hawaii. He was a retired Naval Officer Retired. He Had a Surgical procedure at Tripler AMC. I took care of him in the SICU. You could tell Brian was his son. Almost Twins.
This team is the reason my family got together at least one day a week and spent several hours bonding I’ll never forget those times ! I thank this man and this team for all that! Woof woof go Browns!!🐶🦴
I had the pleasure to play with Brain when he was the NJ Generals USFL a wonderful QB and human being and leader I caught passes from many great QBs brain place his passes just nice great memory for me Timmy White #85
I was just thinking about my childhood hero Brian Sipe when I decided to look up some old footage here and came across this recent video. THANK YOU so much Jim ! You are so right though, every time Brian's name is mentioned it does bring a smile to so many of us Browns fans. Anytime I go out and where my #17 Sipe jersey, I get lots of compliments and "attaboys". I'm almost 50 now and I'll always cherish my memories watching Brian and the Kids with my dad. I still haven't met Brian in person yet, hopefully one day soon I'll get that wish. Until them..it's just me and my Kardiac Kids memories. We love you Sipe !
1980 NFL MVP Brian Sipe was ahead of his time. Play him today and he'd be one of the best in the game. I saw him play back in 78, he threw 3td's against us that day. And the team! People who hated the Brown's loved this team! Thanks for the great memory
My all time favorite Brown!!!! He's so right when he says people remember where they were when Red Right 88 happened. My family was glued to the tv, yelling "Kick it! Kick it!" I landed on the floor trying to help Ozzie catch that ball, then lay there for an hour after, crying like a baby. My sister was dating a guy named Michael Davis. I told her the interception was a sign they shouldn't be together. Needless to say, I didn't treat him kindly. LOL! Love this series. It brings back so many memories. Go Browns!
Blew my knee out, leaving the Clev Clinic, Huge guy steps in the elevator, super deep friendly voice, Mr Doug D holds the door for me on my crutches. Walks with me in the garage. His plate on his car... "ME HOLD" Win or lose, best team to watch ever.
At 30:00, it looks like Sipe is fighting back tears talking about Red-Right-88, 40 years after it happened. God bless you, Brian Sipe. We still love you.
Brian Sipe gave my youth great memories watching the Kardiac Kids still after all these years - No Browns team comes close to the love affair we all had with them!
I know where I was. About the 35 yrd line 40 rows back. Couldn't see who caught the ball. Knew it was over, had to get home to see the replay. Lost, but still the best season and team. ❤️ Them Browns!
My favorite QB of all times. For the record Brain Sipe did not call the Red right 88 play. Sam called Red right 88. Sipe could of play two more years in Cleveland, but Art Model would not guarantee his contract and he went to the USFL. If we would have beat the Raiders and won the Superbowl Sipe would be in the hall of fame. Sipe was the second QB to throw for over 4 thousand yards.
Legendary quarterback stuff happens real cold their kicker was hurt wind too much Coach Rutigliano did what he thought was best The wind caught hold of Sipes pass shit happens does not diminish Brian as a quarterback and hes world class took full responsibility would love a man like that as my quarterback true legend
A couple notes about Red Right 88. While it's easy to rag on the Browns and Sipe for the end zone interception, there's caveats. 1. Don Cockroft was having a bad time. He apparently had a bad back and maybe a groin injury and was having a really rough time kicking. He had missed 30 and 47 yard FG attempts and as Sipe mentioned, holder Paul McDonald fumbled the snap on a 35 yard attempt and had to eat the ball. 2. Although the Browns were on the Raiders 14 yard line, it was the open end of the stadium and the wind was blowing - and it was freezing cold - one of the coldest games in NFL history. You've got a kicker who can barely walk and already clanked two FGs and an XP plus a holder who already fumbled a snap and they'd be trying to kick into a howling wind. Small wonder that Sam Rutigliano wanted to try for the TD. 3. It looked on replay as if Sipe slipped ever so slightly when he threw the ball - and it wasn't a bullet. In 1982, DE Lyle Alzado and RB Greg Pruitt were traded from the Browns to the Raiders. Their new teammates promptly told Pruitt that Mike Davis had the worst hands on the team and the biggest shock of all was that Davis, of all people, would make a game-saving interception on a day barely above zero degrees. Gene Upshaw would later say that "Mike Davis couldn't catch a cold in Alaska in January if he were naked."
3:02 - Sorry to disagree, Brian, but there was a Monday Night Football game in Cleveland just two years earlier (in 1977) -- a game in which you led the Browns to a come-from-behind, overtime victory against the Patriots. That, in my humble opinion, was when the Kardiac kids were truly born. If you won't give yourself much-deserved credit for your performance in that game, I will. ;-)
Brian Sipe, by far, is my favorite Brown. I had season tickets back then and couldn’t wait to get to the Game and watch Brian Sipe and the Kardiac Kids!
I attended a Browns game in 1981 when Brian was at his peak, and I still have the program with Brian on the cover. It even has Bill Cowher in it as a player. Would love to have Brian Sipe sign it. Is he doing any appearances while in Cleveland? He's by far my favorite Cleveland Browns QB and overall player!
That was when you were proud to be a Brown's fan. For all you who weren't born yet or to young to remember pull up on you tube the kardiac kids and you will see why!
Ok....just into this 1minute and JD says you mention Brian Sipe in Cle and a smile comes on the faces!!!! How can he ask why that is? I'll tell you why.....BRIAN SIPE IS A FOX!!!!!! Be still my heart!!!!
The Browns last 2 games that year were at Minnesota where they lost on the last play of the game on a Hail Mary to Ahmad Rashad and then the last game of the year was of course this playoff game. Two excruciating losses to end the year.
I have a shrine dedicated to the Kardiac Kids and Brian Sipe in my "woman's cave"! The only jersey I wear is #17. Love him and my Brownies! What a great photo of him and Mayfield. Maybe it's our time again!
The best quarterback you 40 year olds and younger of today, probably never heard of . pound for pound one of the finest, most courageous, intelligent, improvisational and exciting quarterbacks of all time . Tom Brady was just a passing robot (without the software for his feet to run left or right ) compared to Brian Sipe
Lifelong Steeler and loathe the Browns. But Sipe was great and the 1979-1984 Browns were some good teams and fun to watch. Still don’t understand how Kosar is so beloved when Sipe was better!
I do miss the old Browns stadium. It was not kept up though. Not sure if that was on purpose, or the team just did not have money. But it looked so bad playing over the infield and the warning track. Horrible looking.
Awesome story...loved every minute....steelers fan..
.lifelong ohio resident....sipe is pure class .....
My favorite Brown of all time! 17❤
Jim Donovan and Brian Sipe. Two of the all-time greats at their profession. They'll both always have a special place in my heart.
Brian Sipe is my favorite Browns QB hands down. Great interview. Great memories.
My favorite Brown ❤❤❤ remember watching Brian and the Kardiac Kids with my dad and sister
Some on the coldest days in that stadium, warmest feelings ever! #17 fan for life. All around #1 leader of the best team ever!
Monday nite against Dallas Yaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!
Excellent video!
When i was in school, Brian Sipes jersey #17 was everywhere!
So much fun to go back and relive those moments. Hope Brian is still doing well. Jim Donovan is first rate.

Between Brian and Earnest, Cleveland has some unbelievable stand up guys. To still be talking about those painful moments decades later.
Love Brian Sipe and the cardiac kids!
Legendary quarterback
What a great interview. Very special times.
God, we love this guy!
Brian Sipe talking about mosh dives made my day.
What a class act.
Classy man great quarterback

Sipe with the quick snap was the best. Great memories of the cardiac kids. Thanks for the memories

Wonderful memories ! Thanks Brian!
My boyhood idol Brian Sipe # 17.
I became a fan in 80 because of the Kardiac Kids. So much heartbreak through the years... Yesterday's game in Baltimore was so big. Go BROWNS !!!

Sipe and Kosar best QB we have had in Browns history
I was at the red right 88 game...below zero...freezing....what a disaster..love Brian Sipe
Sipe, Newsome, the Pruitts.... Kardiac Kids.... to say they mean so much to me would be an understatement.

My all time favorite Brown! Loved the Kardiac Kids.
Man this bring back good memories for me and my older brothers, Sipe,Logan ,pruitt etcc
He was my favorite player, as a child.
And mine as well. I idolized him he was just as popular as Bernie Kosar!!!!
Brian was my first boyhood hero. Great days.
I was 30 minutes from Stadium still recall Paul Warfield. Leroy Kelly, Biĺl Nelson, ...

I'm always a Brown fan because of he and all teams form his into Bernie Kosar. They deserve titles
my god loved those games and players you knew you never new what the heck would take place out on the field . win or loose you had to love that team

Sipe was my #1 favorite. Keep hoping he'll pop into a fame at the elbow room in Swn Diego since he's right down the road.

I was 11 years old and at my aunt's house for Red Right 88...my grandmother predicted the Raiders would win...I was heartbroken
I still at 55 haven't got over that loss - we will the Super Bowl; that year if we kick that FG to beat the Raiders instead of Red Right 88 play.
Luv this Guy BS Forever
That was when you were proud to be a Brown's fan. For all you who weren't born yet or to young to remember pull up on you tube the kardiac kids and you will see why!
Your cardiac medicine made a lot of money for Cincinnati thanks for the heart condition
Ok....just into this 1minute and JD says you mention Brian Sipe in Cle and a smile comes on the faces!!!! How can he ask why that is? I'll tell you why.....BRIAN SIPE IS A FOX!!!!!! Be still my heart!!!!

Back when QBs called plays. I had forgotten about that.
Loved the Cardiac Kids! Brings back lots of good memories.
Kardiac Kids..... ;) yeah, love them....

My parents left their honeymoon early because of red right 88! However my parents still say that was their favorite team.

Lifelong Steeler and loathe the Browns. But Sipe was great and the 1979-1984 Browns were some good teams and fun to watch. Still don’t understand how Kosar is so beloved when Sipe was better!
Class act wish we had more QBs like this now instead of some of these pampered cry babies
I have to have this documentary on DVD. Can someone direct me to where it is available?
I’ve never heard of anyone else named “Sipe.” Interesting name. Does anyone know what nationality “Sipe” is?
I heard they had the best record in the AFC in 80 sucks they lost that team could beat anyone football is a funny game bounce here or there crazy
I do miss the old Browns stadium. It was not kept up though. Not sure if that was on purpose, or the team just did not have money. But it looked so bad playing over the infield and the warning track. Horrible looking.
the sipe is old get him on tape before he is gone show

The Legend himself Brian Sipe he had another 6 years then the Browns would of had two Super Bowls
