Hot take: Troy doesn't actually like basketball that much but its the only level on which his dad was ever willing to relate to him so he kinda had to be into it to have a relationship with him. Over the years the only people Troy got the opportunity to socialise with were other basketball people so it kinda became his life without him choosing it. It's kinda crazy how Coach Bolton basically has to learn the same lesson about not living vicariously through his son for 3 straight movies! Not the sharpest tool in the shed.
Also!!!!! The 3rd movie is not a DCOM due to it being released in theaters NOT on Disney Channel directly, hence the pristine camera quality and Hollywood sized budget lol
In the first movie, the crazy part is that technically, that practice he missed to audition wasn't official. It was a free period, and Chad said the team was practicing, and Troy said he couldn't. Even though he lied about why he couldn't, he still said he couldn't. So he had no binding commitment to that practice.
By the way I don't know if anyone said this in the first video, but Taylor being upset about the way Chad talked about the dance is because he didn't actually ask her to the dance, he just assumed they were going together because they were dating.
Zac Efron did not sing in the first High School Musical. His vocals were provided by actor Drew Seeley, who could hit the high notes required for the role. Efron only lip-synced the songs, but he did sing in High School musical 2 and High School Musical 3.
@@DerekThomasLirioI looked it up and it’s official that it was blended in one(mostly drew though) and 2 and 3 were only zac cause he worked hard and fought for the role on getting to sing himself
The whole point of HSM3 is that it’s actually the songs from their actual highschool play/musical. So just imagine you’re watching a musical and every song that is played in the movie is from the musical you’re seeing in front of you. That’s why is so theatric looking😌
The fact that they don’t realize how legendary Kenny Ortega is, is beyond me. They would’ve understood a lot of the artistic direction and references. HSM3 is my personal favorite because it’s more of a musical but I understand why HSM 2 is a crowd favorite. Saying that all the songs sound the same is wild. “I Want It All”, “A Night to Remember” and “Scream” are true standouts. You really have to understand what camp is to be a lover of this trilogy. I feel like Stef has a better grasp on that.
Here's the thing, some of us were in middle school when these came out and were at least juniors when the last one came out, so it made sense to be extra corny for the third movie. I thought it was super sweet, and it hit the feels for the end of our high school days too.
So little fun fact about Corbin Bleu (Chad)……he was on Dancing With The Stars a few years ago and did pretty well from what I recall. Nowadays I giggle at the part where he says he doesn’t dance cause the actor sure does dance.
Thanks! I loved re-watching these with your commentary. Do you have Promposals? That is all that Taylor wanted, even if she went wrong about it. Ryan came out as gay in high school musical the musical the series.
So I know for MOST American high schools we usually start between 730-830 at the LATEST. I have been getting up at 6 am for school since middle school 😂 I would love to get to school at 9
My first bell rang at 7:10 a.m! I didn’t know any high schools in my area that started 8 am or after. Never understood why school had to start so early.
It’s been years and I still look at what Gabriella is wearing at the new years party and think THAT’s what your mom thinks is your best outfit for a party? Considering the later glow up, her wardrobe at this point was very limited.
One of my bus drivers from when I was in middle school always said “toodles” to everyone getting off the bus and learned everyone’s names and I’m convinced he got it from Sharpay
Well at the time in america theatre kids were seen as weird. High school musical actually popularized it. When high school musical saga was airing I was in elementary and middle school and I was an orchestra kid and I didn’t become a theatre kid til high school. Based on those times, before HSM hardly drama class kids. After HSM more drama kids. Drama kids are actually fun thou. I wasn’t an actress but I helped actors get in their clothing and making the clothing. Some of the best fun I had in school thou I do enjoy orchestra.
I would absolutely love to see reactions to Grease and Grease 2! No matter what pairing would be reacting I can only imagine the hilarious and amazing commentary
Zacs over acting is honestly one of my favorite parts tho lol. Over acting looks really cringey for TV and film, but it’s great for other acting like stage performing or even voice acting. He moves like a fucking theatre kid, he would fit in on a stage, but it’s so over the top for a movie and it’s one of the biggest examples of Disney acting I can think of. Disney acting is some weird mix of stage acting and screen acting with its own twists that are a beast of their own. I’m not sure Zac meant to embody it, idk what classes Disney had him take, but it sends me every time and “bet on it” makes me want to run, strut, spin, and slap the ground and water and make big hand movements too so I will accept that it’s an appropriate way to behave when performing that song.
Oops, I didn't see that the other movies were included! You two had me smiling the whole time. You two are just great with your back and forth. Thanks. (As for milk, that is the drink with dinner for many kids-- or at least was--in the 60's & 70's and carried on in the 80's & 90's for the next generation--strong bones and teeth, you know! I may have already been a grandmother the first time I saw this with some young kids. I thought it was corny but wonderful. The message that you can be or do anything you want, given by the popular kids at school, to me was such a valuable lesson for all of those millions of young people watching. An adult can tell them but it takes someone they can relate to, that they look up to among their peers, to convince them that it is possible. (I liked the third better than the second but both are good) Looking forward to more.
The bat thing where they put their hands up on the bat until one reaches the top is just to pick which team pitches first and which team bats first. Basically like flipping a coin or playing Rock Paper Scissors for turns.
These movies give me such ptsd, my dance academy did a show based on them a couple years ago and oh my goddd, every time I hear certain songs I’m right back on that stage 🫠it’s really just that I’ve heard the songs so much during rehearsals and then every weekend for months that I can’t do it anymore lol Also ngl I always loved Ryan and Sharpay, maybe bc I’ve always been a Theater dance kid and just saw a little too much of myself in them 👀
Troy was probably class President which is voted on and tends to be a popularity contents. Both the class President and the valedictorian will speak in American hs
The other kids showed Gabriella that Troy seemed to not care about her, and their first concern was, "We'd love to have you for the scholastic decathlon." Same thing with Troy's friends making fun of him for singing/trying out for the musical. Terrible people. Who needs villains with "friends" like that?
I'm curious if you have watched Kenny Ortega's project Julie and The Phantoms. It's a take on a Brazilian, I think, show, and it was unfortunately cancelled after one season. *BUT* while it is classified as a musical, it's mostly like how Camp Rock handled it with most the musical numbers being performances the characters are doing. *AND* the music is generally actually band music, which might be more up your alley, with the actors actually playing their instruments. Trying not to spoil anything & be vague, just in case you haven't seen it: two of the actors even created one of the songs together as a homage to Kenny & Troy/Gabriella, and Kenny liked it so much he added it to the show^.^ There are 9 episodes, but they're all very short (under/around 30 minutes). Maybe break them up in two reactions and/or make it a Sam & Maria reaction??? There are some things about being in music and creating/being in a band that the show brings up that I'd be curious to hear your opinions on^.^
It's so weird that you say that Sharpay and Peyton look like they could be related because Ashley Tisdale and Austin Butler are actually 10th cousins once removed 4:29:37
hey guys btw I was binging this and I realized you had a sponsor segment at 2:27:20 and I noticed it was the same as the one in the original HSM3 movie reaction you posted and was wondering if you meant to leave it in bc this video is also sponsored or if you forgot to cut it and it could possibly get you in trouble to claim a sponsor on video that actually isn't. Any ways, hope you 2 are well.
Hey! thank you guys so much for putting a bunch of movies together in compilations whether they be series or movies along the same lines. saves time finding the others when i’m working😂 i appreciate it very much!
Omg and I was just contemplating on watching these again because someone sang like 2 seconds of the songs and I got that sweet nostalgic feeling. Thanks 😂
You mentioned people being trained singers. I've been told I have very good control of my voice, but I've never taken any sort of singing classes or trained to sing. However, I've been speaking in public since my early teens. Not many see a connection between the two, but for public speaking, there are many aspects of it that lead to greater control of one's vocal cords. Such as tonality and adding bass during certain parts. The Movie Budz can't sing yet, but that's not for lack of exercising their vocal cords, it's because they've yet to train themselves to keep a tune. But when you guys get your voices ready, I have a venue for your first concert. Possibly even a band for you to use.
I am glad that I was privileged to change my major a couple of times. It allowed me to work towards something I am passionate about. But I did school my entire life (aside from my infant years). After, I graduate from my Master’s, I am done. I am focusing on career and life.
I think my high school started at 7:40! 😆😭 I used to wake up at 5:30 bc I wanted enough time to straighten my hair and do my makeup and chill. 💀 yet I missed the bus at 7 sometimes and my parents would be so mad. 😅😬
The reason they say waking up at 6:00 AM, is that most schools in the US starts around 8, but the bus routes start at like 6 AM, so depending on how you got to school, you could need to be at the bus stop at 6:30 AM
iirc the Tiki song was only added in the Disney+ release so I actually never saw that scene until this reaction 😂 Edit: i think other commenters said this, but since Troy and his family are well off, his family will most likely be paying for college out of pocket, and getting a scholarship for him, his only options I believe would be an academic one or a athletic one, not sure if there are scholarships for theatrical students/degrees
Words cannot express how iconic these movies were back in the day! Plus the reason they introduced the new charachters in the third movie was because they wanted them to continue the franchise, but they decided to cancel it all instead…
Lmao, the HUMUHUMU reaction is so great. It was cut out of the DCOM version but was on the DVD and the soundtrack so i always just found it soooo campy and stupid and thats what the number was supposed to be. Funny bad uk?
Something else I thought while watching this movie that I'm surprised neither of you said. The team keeps telling him he needs to practice and not sing, and they don't stop telling him. If anything is going to cause them to lose, it's the fact that not one of the other players is practicing. Troy is the captain, and he can very easily practice at home. But no one else on the team is practicing either. I know, don't say it Sam. My saying that brings flashbacks of that one science fair, and how no one else was focused. Science fair for Sam, Ping Pong tournament for Seth. I know what you guys are wondering. Who the heck is this Derek guy, and how does he know so much about us? I am simply Derek Thomas Lirio. Point blank.
Also like Stef I too want to pet a lion. Ever since I saw the Lion King as a kid it's been a dream of mine to cuddle a lion cub. Not sure I could trust myself to hold it above a massive drop to present it to its future subjects though.
You guys talk so much that you didn't understand the ending song. It said that they wished that their life could feel like a High School Musical. You're complaining that they named the song High School Musical, but didn't listen to why it was called that.
3:06:00 I don’t think Troy’s family is pretending they don’t have money because of the truck Troy was given. It’s for Troy to understand that you need to work hard in life. The family cleaaarly has money, and the truck was the dads back in the day. Lol I keep getting annoyed when you guys say they don’t have money, when it’s never mentioned that they are lower class or something. 😂 just my rant for the day.
Well the dad is a high school basketball coach possibly gym teacher so i dont know how much money they actually do have and its never specified what Troys moms does.
3:25:27 you don’t have to be the valedictorian (my school had 4 speeches from students and though they all have high grades, they were not named valedictorian or saladictorian(whatever the second highest grade is called)
Anyone else shocked by that Tiki song in HSM2!?? Never seen it before. I guess it is a bonus scene for streaming!??? I am pretty certain that song was not in the original release
Hi. Please can you add chapters to these compilation videos you have started posting, e.g a chapter for each film within the video. This helps people like me who like to watch films in a franchise in different orders
I found a mistake. They said sharpay was going to college close by and help out at the high school at same time. In spin-off she isn’t even in college yet and it’s been at least a year
Sorry did they just say Gabriella is a better performer than Troy???? Zac literally stood as a performer in the entire series. From the beginning you could see the natural charisma
You would've had to see them as a child to really appreciate it. Like most things aimed at kids. I was 11 when the first one came out. I even had HSM bedding. I definitely prefer the original version of HSM 2 without the Hawaiian song. That was an added scene that adds a level of cringe I don't appreciate.
It’s hilarious how I grew up with Campus Romances in Mainstream Hindi Cinema with more than just song and dance AND then Disney Channel enables that feeling? Yes! Also, I had the biggest crush on the boys and some of us wanted to be Sharpay (minus the putting people down).
the "i don't dance" scene was truly an ✨experience✨ for little 12yo me watching hsm2 for the first time

It's kinda crazy how Coach Bolton basically has to learn the same lesson about not living vicariously through his son for 3 straight movies! Not the sharpest tool in the shed.
Sharpay also had the same arc three times lol so did Gabriella. I think Ryan might be the only one who grew throughout 3 movies
Kelsey and Ryan carried the franchise. I'll fight on that too
Also!!!!! The 3rd movie is not a DCOM due to it being released in theaters NOT on Disney Channel directly, hence the pristine camera quality and Hollywood sized budget lol
Kelsey was a hater in the first movie.

what is a high school ring? :)

I may have already been a grandmother the first time I saw this with some young kids. I thought it was corny but wonderful. The message that you can be or do anything you want, given by the popular kids at school, to me was such a valuable lesson for all of those millions of young people watching.
Very good point. I just saw that house and assumed they were rich af and didn’t question a thing. Momma must be the bread winner🙌
My new favorite expression is "the name of the game is on the nose 🤣"
Are y’all ever planning on looking at the Descendants series? I think the music in those movies are interesting choices
Yes compilation videos ! 💙💙
It’s crazy that y’all didn’t believe Gabriella and Troy’s relationship since they dated FOREVER in real life during and after this 💀💀😂😂
Weird to see how long Sam’s hair was back when this was filmed
I miss it, but things change 😊🤷♂️ - Sam
Definitely fair to not count Humu Humu as a real song in movie 2, it was originally a bonus scene added to entice people to buy the DVD
Love this new binge content
I have an almost 5 hour drive to Atlanta, Georgia tonight. Guess what I will be listening to on the way there? 😊
Perfect 😁 - Sam
Love all these vids
That's because in America we start school by 7:15 am😭
I start at 8-8:20 in USA
I found a mistake. They said sharpay was going to college close by and help out at the high school at same time. In spin-off she isn’t even in college yet and it’s been at least a year
The dad did mention that sharpay wanted to take a gap year tho
U guys missed something at the very end of Sharpe’s fabulous adventure. Spoiler alert: something to do with Ryan. 💜✨✌🏻
Lol Taylor said "hottie super-bomb" not bum haha
You have to watch High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, its really cool and Olivia Rodrigo is in on it❤❤❤❤❤❤
40:00 I hate when mum and dad fight :C
You talked about Charlie’s Angels, and now I’m wishing a react of all of the movies from you guys 🥺
These compilations are so fun to watch
2:11:35 I’m suprised you don’t notice chemistry cause they(zac and Vanessa)were dating while all of these movies were filmed
Oh, I know. That’s what made it so unfortunate to notice 😬 - Sam
I think I’d really like to see them watch Rent.
Believe me as a woman I definetly do google search people....
It's so weird seeing the man who plays Ryan play a straight man in otherroles
