Can you reject or be allergic to dental implants? Dental implants have been around since the mid-1960s. Most implants are pure titanium or titanium alloy, and there are others that are non-metal, which we call zirconia implants. I've placed more than 10,000 dental implants and I have never personally seen an allergic reaction. There are some patients who have immune system problems that can make the implant appear it may be something that they're allergic to or that the implant could be unsafe or be rejected from their body.
